[SDI] I love this capture card so far. My favorite part is the fact that you can just plug it in and pull up signal. I do not have to match the exact frame rate and size in Wirecast in order to see signal at all like the Blackmagic Ultra Studio Express Capture cards. One tip I learned from hands on experience streaming corporate video is to put this on a separate USB bus so it has enough bandwidth to work. I have been adapting the custom USB type a that is provided with an adapter cable that goes to USB type C so it's on it's own bus and works super smooth with my laptop ; )

[32 GB] Earlier firmware versions lacked features, but the last couple updates have added helpful functionality (eg. access to built-in local storage, RTSP stream, API, improved bitrates)


During the early days of the API the developer was very helpful and responsive to feedback.

We're now looking to use the device as part of our classroom lecture capture solution. Relative to other dedicated lecture capture appliances, this is significantly less expensive.

[32 GB] We purchased the Ultra Stream for our small church to be able to stream our church services since our older members are staying home to avoid the risk of infection from Covid 19. We have been using it for 8 weeks streaming at 1080/25fps at 4 mbps. After initial configuration it starts a live stream to our Youtube page by just pressing the green button on the case. We first tried streaming via a PC but there was too much lag, crashed occasionally, was rather complicated, and it would have required a dedicated person to manage the stream. The Ultra Stream was the ideal solution. Relatively low cost, very simple to use, very stable, and no lag. We have connected a single video camera on a permanent mount via hdmi. One comment I would make is that the manual states that if you use a line input to the mic jack the volume will be very loud, and we have not found this to be the case. We are taking line output from out mixerboard directly into the Ultra Stream and the volume settings on the mixerboard and the Ultra Stream are at about midpoint, and the audio meter levels almost never go into the red. This means that after finding the right levels on our mixerboard, we no longer have to make any adjustments on the fly for the Ultra Stream, the audio technician adjusts the volume in the room and those levels are also correct for the Ultra Stream.

[2 Streams] Took 720 SDI from an ATEM to usb on windows for Skype. Worked fine.
Plug and play.

[SDI] I used it on my Sony PXW-X70 camera, and it had no problem handling both video and audio signal. I streamed to FB and YouTube, no problems. This will be a great addition for my streaming business.

[ (6 W)] the prefect way to connect an SDI camera to your laptop!!

[5 to 90%] This works great for my needs. Now I'm able to view SDI sources over the company network. I've connected this to the multiview out of a switcher in a remote room, so now I can see and control everything from anywhere on campus. I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can do with NDI to support more meetings at once. This one was for testing, so I'll be buying more of these soon.

[32 GB] This little metal box really does a great job. Zero audio to video lag, great quality, feels very solid yet its lightweight. I am glad I spent the extra money, its so nice just to know something will work.

[ (6 W)] Used this with a PTZ Optics camera and it was plug, play and stream! SDI adapter cable looks fragile so will be securing it accordingly. It did not like being plugged into a USB hub but could have been a compatibility issue or simply too many devices on a single connection.

[5 to 90%] We use these with our PTZ Optics cameras to convert SDI to USB. We have had zero issues with latency or image degradation.
