This K&F Concept Slim Polarizer Filter 72mm Multicoatedfrom K&F Concept Slim Polarizer Filter 72mm Multicoatedis a 72mm multicoated glass circular polarizing filter that helps reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a nonmetallic surface. The light from the sun becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges and filters directionally polarized light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from nonmetallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

This filter is constructed from Japanese optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity, and it features multicoating to prevent internal ghosting and reflections. It is made with an aluminum alloy filter ring that can be rotated to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect. The slim design reduces the potential for vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Zeiss or Hoya HD3 CP? They are about equal in price, but which is the better filter for Sony f/2.8 24-70?

A: A lens filter is made of the glass, the filter material, the ring and the coatings. The quality of each determines the quality of the filter. Both of these filters, ZEISS 82mm Carl ZEISS T* Circular Polarizer Filter B&H # ZEPOLF82 and the Hoya 82mm HD3 Circular Polarizer Filter B&H # HOCPHD382 are the best the manufacturers can make and they are of the best you can get for your lens and camera. Saying which is best is like which is better, a BMW or a Lexus? You will not go wrong with either of these beautifully made, thin profiled (no vignetting) optically perfect Polarizers. The only difference is the Zeiss does the normal 1.5 stop loss for a Pola whereas the Hoya claims only a 1.25 stop loss. For the vast majority of shooting situations with a Pola, I think that negligible but in certain situations it could be a valuable asset. You might be the type who likes to standardize on filter brands in which case since Hoya makes only filters, they do have a larger variety. Then again, maybe you only want one or two filters. Have fun.

Q: 2. IS this polarizer brass or aluminum?

A: The ring is made of aluminum.

Q: 3. Is this filter slim enough to not vignette on the Sony FE1635z?

A: I own both zeiss, the cp and the uv one, and I do not see any diffrence with/without filter at 16mm or 35mm regardin fall off/ vignette on the sony-zeiss 16-35f4 lens. Hands down best filters I oned.

Q: 4. This product is listed as having 'slim profile', but would it be suitable for a Fujifilm XF 14mm lens?

A: The Zeiss filter would be too thick. I would recommend this B+W filter instead. Please see the following link:http://bhpho.to/1uxPx0aThe B+W filter is the same thickness but the ring is pushed out wider so there is less rick of vignetting.

Q: 5. Does this Zeiss 67mm polarizer filter fit my Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 lens? Do I need a filter wrench?

A: I keep this filter on my Zeiss Batis 25 mm lens 98% of the time. It fits on very nicely and screws off without a filter wrench. The filter also has front threads so that you can stack another circular filter such as a ND over it. Easy.

Q: 6. Will I be able to put on a lens hood onto the front of the filter?

A: Hi--yes, you can attach a lens hood to this filter.

Q: 7. Is there a lens cap or cover that I can put on this Zeiss 95mm Circular Polarizer Filter to protect it while I have it attached to my Zeiss Milvus 15mm/2.8 lens? The Zeiss Milvus lens cap (or a Nikon 95mm lens cap) does not snap on to the front of this polarizer filter.

A: The Lens Cap for the Milvus 2.8/15 lens does fit to the ZEISS 95mm Polarizing filter.

Q: 8. Will the Olympus hood for the Olympus 75mm f/1.8 Lens fit over this filter?

A: I am not familiar with this particular lens but as far as I know any 58mm lens cap will fit.I had no problem with my Canon 58mm lens cap.

Q: 9. Would this work with the Nikon Z 14-30 mm at 14 mm without vignetting?

A: I'm sorry for the worthlessly late reply. I don't know. I do know that my Heliopan "slim" filter for my Zeiss 15mm on my Nikon D800 has no vignetting.

Q: 10. For what is this filter so expensive?

A: ZEISS, ZEISS,ZEISS ... you get what you pay for. If you want to see true color stop using Nikon glass and purchase a Zeiss lens

[Aluminum] Doesn't block the lens at all, nice and short for no barrel affect. Inexpensive.

[Multi Coated] Well made, does exactly what an ND filter should.

[Aluminum] I'm honestly surprised at how good this Polarizer is for the money. No discernible color shift or noticeable sharpness loss on my copy and it just does what it's says it's supposed to.

[0.16 lb] I got this to pair with a Tokina 14-20mm f/2.0 EF-S lens. It does a great job and the lens sharpness doesn't suffer noticeably from the extra glass. One downside is that if there is a strong light source like the sun in the frame, it causes some nasty circular flares in the image, but this is a problem with every other filter I've used as well, so I'm not sure I'd ding it a star for that.

[Aluminum] I have never regretted or disappointed in the performance of any K&F products

[Aluminum] I am a film photographer and I bought this for my Pentax f/1.4 50mm lens to shoot long exposures of waterfalls. For such a low price I was prepared for problems but all of my images were beautiful and consistent, no difference in picture quality at different exposure times and different lighting conditions. The fact it is waterproof was greatly appreciated since the spray radius off some of the falls was quite impressive. Overall very pleased especially for the price, I would def buy from this brand again.
Good to note: I primarily shoot black and white, and the only color shots I took with this filter were at night, so I can't really speak to how it might affect colors. What I did shoot looked accurate and I don't see any discoloration.

[0.16 lb] Bought this filter for a 28mm Leitz Biogon lens on a range finder camera. Density scale in the lens makes it a snap to use -- not to mention that it's absolutely necessary to have it since one is not looking through the lens to see how much polarization one is getting.

[Glass] If you're looking to try long exposure on a budget, this is a very solid buy.

I bought this for a first attempt at long exposure waterfalls and I am immensely pleased, especially with the price point. I shoot black & white so I can't comment on any possible color aberrations, but all of my shots are clean and sharp. It took getting sprayed by waterfalls in the middle of winter very well, cleans easily and threads smoothly. Best paired with 100 speed film on bright sunny days, it only took me down to 1-2 seconds with 400 speed.

[Multi Coated] I was very surprised at the results of this filter. I wasn't expecting much based on it's price (sale price especially), but when I tested it, I noticed virtually zero difference in sharpness. I also didn't notice much of a color shift either when using it. Definitely worth the money!
