Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What does the limited 1 year warranty cover?

A: The Limited 1-Year Warranty covers failure due to defects in the manufacturing process.

Q: 2. Can I use line level signal on the AT897?

A: It only has an XLR out, so it will be a mic level output. It does have a spot where you can put a battery in, if you do not have phantom power in your recorder though.

Q: 3. This mic looks like it has to be mounted in a vertical position to get proper L/R sound, correct? i.e., if I was to mount it from a left or right-facing cold shoe mount, I'd be recording an up/down stereo image, correct? Basically, can the mic be rotated in its shock mount, or no?

A: Hello to achieve a proper recording the mic must sit pointing forward and horizontal in the shoe mount. Any other configuration will not be conducive to a natural reproduction of the sound recording. Also it's extremely important to use the windscreen outside and to set proper volume recording levels in the camera. Best,MG

Q: 4. Do I need a pre-amp to connect it to a laptop?

A: The Audio-Technica Pro 35 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone requires a USB audio interface with XLR inputs for connection to a computer.

Q: 5. Can you recommend a preamp/power supply for this mic? I don't need a mixer as I plan to feed the mic into an ATEM mini with an adapter

A: You can use the Rolls MP13 Mini-Mic Preamp (B&H # ROMP13) to power the Audio-Technica U851Rb Cardioid Condenser Boundary Microphone, then use an XLR female to 3.5mm TRS male cable like the Kopul XRSM 3-Pin XLR Female to 3.5mm RA Stereo Mini-Plug Cable - 3' (B&H # KOXRSM03B) to connect the output from the MP13 to the 3.5mm TRS input on the Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini HDMI Switcher.

Q: 6. Does the microphone come with a stand?

A: The Audio-Technica AT2040 microphone does not ship with a stand, that will be an additional accessory that can be ordered separately from our site.

Q: 7. If I reversed the signal flow, would this work as a line level Stereo RCA Splitter?

A: The only way you could reverse the signal flow on the Galaxy JIB/R is if you opened it and soldered it to reverse the inputs and outputs to be able to achieve what you are describing. If you require a splitter then you would need something more like B&H # GAJIBS or BH #HEPB2.

Q: 8. Will the power module fit into a xvive phantom power unit?

A: Yes, you can use the Audio-Technica Pro 35 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone with the Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply with Rechargeable Battery (B&H # XVP1). The Pro 35 is also compatible for use with the Xvive Audio U3C Set Wireless Plug-On System for Condenser Microphones - 2.4 GHz (B&H # XVU3CSET). The transmitter in this system will supply phantom power for the mic.

Q: 9. Will this mic work with the Leica SL2S?

A: Yes. The Audio-Technica AT8024 Stereo/Mono Camera-Mount Microphone BH #AUAT8024 • MFR #AT8024is plug and play compatible with the Leica SL2-S Mirrorless Digital Camera.

Q: 10. Is the 1/4" output balanced or unbalanced?

A: Per Galaxy Audio, the 1/4'' output is unbalanced.

[Black] This mic will be used by the pastor in a sanctuary--who moves around--and appreciates the omnidirectional capability.

[Black] I had never even heard of the brand before seeing them on the B&H site. I gambled and purchased 3 of them for an event that was 5 days away. I received them 2 days before the event so I had them for dress rehearsal and the event itself. The mics worked flawlessly and performed better than some mics that I have that are double the price of these! Awesome first impression of Point Source mics!! These make me want to try some of those ultra flexible CO-7s. :)

[Black] We have only used this once, but our congregation definitely noticed the difference. Everything was projected clearly with no noticeable distortion. Small enough to be inocuous, and not uncomfortable. The only concern that we have is if someone borrows it and unknowingly tries to bend the boom; not sure how adversely it may be affected.

[Black] I bought this mic for my new Senn G3 wireless bodypack. I filmed an exercise video and the talent forgot they were even wearing it and I think it sounded great for the price. I was very happy with the size too...it is small and not very noticeable. .... It can only be used for the left ear as indicated.

[Black] We use them in a church for all the pastors. Being as how the economy is where it is we have had to cut cost. The CO-3 microphone is priced so we did not have to down grade quality for our sound system. You may want to use a foam wind screen the mike is rather hot. I would recomend this to any one needing this type of mike.
