A: LANC controllers include products by VariZoom, Manfrotto and others. According to Blackmagic Design, The LANC protocol triggers Record Start and Stop, plus electronic lens control of the iris and focus. We are unable to test this combination but feel confident that you will be able to focus with a quality LANC controller such as the VariZoom VZ-STEALTH Zoom Controller.

Q: 2. Will this work with Blackmagic Design Production 4k (EF)? If not, is there a recommendable LANC?

A: Yes, you can use the VariZoom VZ-STEALTH with the Blackmagic Design Production Camera 4K (EF Mount). The remote port, a 2.5 mm stereo jack which uses the standard Sony LANC protocol, can be found under it's dust cap on the left face of the camera. This can be used to remotely control start/stop record, iris and also focus adjustments when using a compatible lens. Sorry, no zoom control that we know of.

Q: 4. Will this work with Canon HF G20?

A: Yes it will work. It is one of the recommended zoom controls for the HF-G20.

Q: 5. Will this device work with the Sony A7s via adapter? Will all functions work?

A: To get this device to connect to the A7s you would need 2 adapters. First an adapter to go from Lanc to A/V R and then one to go from A/V R to Multi Terminal. Even after connecting those 2 adapter I cannot confirm that all or any of the functions will work for you. The Sony RM-VPR1 is a cleaner solution that will not require any adapters.

A: No. It only works with camcorders according to the chart Varizoom offers.

Q: 7. Will this work with the Sony NX80? Do I need some type of adapter?

A: Yes, the VariZoom VZ-STEALTH Zoom Controller B&H # VAVZSTEALTH will work if you get these two adapter cables. Sony VMC-AVM1 A/V R Adapter Cable B&H # SOVMCAVM1 and Manfrotto AV-R to LANC Cable (7.8 ) B&H # MA522AV. Yes, strange and awkward but it works.
