A: The quality of light produced by a light modifier depends on the size of the modifier in relation to the size of the subject and the distance it is used from the subject. If you use the Savage Umbrella Softbox Bounce (36 ) relatively close to a subject for head shots or bust shots (18 to 3 feet), the item would produce soft, wraparound lighting. The farther from the subject, the less wraparound light and the harder the light will become. The same light modifier farther away (12' - 15' and farther) may produce hard light on your subject with no wraparound light quality.

[1.85 lb] I'm quite happy with my 43" umbrella softbox. It is easy to set up and compact when folded, so it stores easily. It produces a nice soft light for portraits or still lifes. It seems to be reasonably well made and for the money, a good buy. 5

[Silver] So I'm just starting off in my journey on OCF and this Umbrella makes a huge difference, I also have a regular umbrella but this softens the light as well as bounces it like a softbox would. I can tell you this much, this will be the only still of umbrella I purchase going into the future in my Journey as a photographer. 5

[1.85 lb] I purchased the 43 and it is really huge. Seriously, you might actually benefit from buying the smaller size. The umbrella seems like it will last a long time with proper care. It takes a little bit to set up at first, but becomes quicker to assemble with use. I use it with a flash and the light is even and incredibly soft. It leaves a great catchlight too. If you want softbox quality at a cheaper price, go for this! 5
