Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the current batch problem free? Some people mentioned that the batch 2019/08/09 has some issues.

A: To our knowledge, there have been no issues reports with the current batch of this chemistry.

Q: 2. Can I use acetic stop bath with this fixer for printing? Thanks!

A: Acetic stop bath can be used with Arista Premium Odorless Liquid Fixer (32 oz) when making B&W prints.

Q: 3. Can I mix this powder 1L at a time? If so, what is the suggested method for preserving XTOL powder after the package has been opened?

A: No. Highly suggest mixing all at once with 1 gallon of water.

Q: 4. Can this be fixer be used without a stop bath - ie - water rinse after developer?

A: Yes, you can use fixer, such as the Arista Premium Odorless Liquid Fixer (32 oz), without a stop bath when printing on RC paper. A water rinse would be recommended to remove the developer prior to fixing.

Q: 5. How long is the shelf-life of the dry powder? I have powder from 15-20 yrs. ago and was wondering if I can still use it.

A: While dry powder has a long shelf life, I highly doubt that your 20 year old powder is any good.

Q: 6. what temp do you mix it at, is it the same as D76?

A: It is the same as D76. Water temperature needs to be 105°F. The mixing instructions are on the package label.

Q: 7. How long does a partly used bottle last on shelf at 68 degrees?

A: A partly used Arista Liquid Paper Developer needs to be stored in a bottle with no air. The bigger the area with air, the faster the developer will oxidize and not work anymore. A half bottle would last about three weeks. As the developer turns orange brown it loses its effectiveness.

Q: 8. What's the shelf life of an opened bottle?

A: Storage is usually 6 to 24 month for liquid depending on storage and room temp anything below 65F is ideal temp for storage.

Q: 9. can i use it with all black and white film?

A: Kodak Professional XTOL Film Developer is compatible with many black and white films. But since some films require specific developers, it would be impossible to say any one developer is compatible with all films.

Q: 10. need developing times for fp4, fp5, plus x, and tri x with arista 76 film developer powder?

A: Search for "Arista 76 development times" online and you will find many sources.

[Liquid] I bought this to develop Arista B&W paper, and this developer worked great! 1 oz of concentrate was enough to cover 5x7 paper and develop half a pack (perhaps more). You seen an image in about a minute. No complaints!

(eTone safelight worked great too - here's a picture of my paper in the actual developer. Arista odorless fixer in the right tray, and I washed under the faucet between chems).

[Liquid] I purchased a small bottle to try out. On my VC RC neutral tone paper it still gave a very subtle coolness to the image.

[13.57 lb] I used this with ISO 200 and 400 4x5 films. Found it to be very flexible in dilution, temperature and developing time. Fine grain developed image. Great contrast as well.

[13.57 lb] An economical, fine grain developer that delivers excellent results with many films, especially with tabular grain films and classic grain films with ISO 125. Simple to use but check the MSDS if you are on a septic system.

[13.57 lb] I love working with this developer. I tend to let the prints develop a bit longer than the recommended 2 mins. It produces nice cool tones and is incredibly affordable.

[Liquid] This is rebadged clayton F76+ it's one of my favorite developers, has the look of D76 but the convenience of a liquid chemistry.
I can attest that a bottle of concentrate stays fresh at least 4 months after opening, and that is without any efforts to keep air out of the bottle.
