The AMT Z1L Studio Custom Microphone comes complete with the AP Studio preamp, a case, and AMT disconnecting cable technology to allow the microphone to be used wireless with the Wi5C. Shure, Sabine, and Sennheiser wireless systems (sold separately). The cables are also sold separately.

Designed and manufactured by hand, this microphone is intended to reproduce the rich deep sonic tones of an alto and bass flute while clamping to the instrument (clamp sold separately). It uses D.C.T. (Disconnect Cable Technology) and is suitable for professionals looking for a natural sound reproduction from a clip-on microphone.

The system allows the player to easily change to and from AMT's different preamps (sold separately) while also allowing for direct connections to the Wi5IIC, Sabine, Shure, or Sennheiser wireless systems (sold separately), creating a belt pack free operation. With a change of cable (sold separately), you can convert your Z1L Studio from a wired AP Studio style preamp over to a wireless setup quickly and easily.

The microphone is suspended in a 4-point isolation ring reducing key and handling noise. Phantom power or 9V battery is required for the Studio model. It can be used for soft to loud music for a principal artist, ensemble setting, or for a soloist.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this work with a zoom h4n or should i get the adapter ?

A: This will work with your recorder without any additional adapters. The VideoMic uses a 3.5mm connector which the Zoom H4n will accept.

Q: 2. Does this microphone record in stereo?

A: No, the M40 is not stereo, it is mono.

Q: 3. I know for the fact that this mic uses A9 battery. is there anyway I can get rechargeable A9 battery for my mic ?thanks

A: You mean, 9 volt battery, Rechargeable, Yes. B&H # POMHR9VP - Powerex 9V Precharged Rechargeable NiMH Battery (9.6V, 230mAh) - That battery is a hassle to replace. Hope that helps!

Q: 4. How does it mount in grand piano? Is it mounted in any way or just laid in?

A: Hi Barry: (Sorry I didn't realize that I needed to reply via web form)the microphone was laid in. I was worried that the foam sticker would have a dampening affect on the sound, and so I didn't use any sticker. The sound is still not good in the lower register. I continue to try different locations. Please advise.

Q: 5. Does this work with Canon EOS 550D AKA Rebel T2i?

A: The Rode VideoMic Pro is compatible with the Canon T2I.

Q: 6. Will this mic work with my Panasonic HC-WXF1 Camcorder?

A: This mic would work perfectly with the Panasonic HC-WXF1 camcorder.

Q: 7. Assuming I get this mic what other devices do I ned to connect to our sound system?

A: The AMT P800W Trumpet Microphone System with 1/8" (3.5mm) Mini Connection for Sennheiser Evolution Series Wireless Transmitters includes the P800 microphone along with an extension arm and mount that enables the microphone to mount directly in front of the instrument's bell. This is just the mic and mounting hardware, but it does not include the wireless system (wireless transmitter and wireless receiver) that the P800 microphone will be connecting to. The P800 can be connected to a Sennheiser wireless transmitter that has a locking 1/8" (3.5mm) input connector like the Sennheiser EW 100 G4-ME2 Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System - A1: 470 to 516 MHz (B&H # SEEW100G4MA1) or theSennheiser XSW 1-ME2 UHF Lavalier Microphone Set - A: 548 to 572 MHz (B&H # SESXSW1ME2A). Just use the P800 microphone with the wireless transmitter instead of using the lavalier mic that is included with the Sennheiser system. There are also wireless systems from other manufacturers that are compatible and use the same wiring and input connector as Sennheiser, such as the Rode RODELink Performer Kit Digital Wireless Microphone System (B&H # RODELINKPF) and the Saramonic UwMic 9 (B&H # SATX9RX9). The output from the wireless receiver can be connected to a standard microphone input on a mixer, amplifier, recorder or camera using an appropriate cable.

Q: 8. Can this mic be adapted to run of of camera power?

A: There is nothing to indicate that this is an option. There are no external connections for power, just a place to put the 9v battery.

Q: 9. How can I connect the Rode VideoMic Pro to my iPhone 8? Do I need another cable than the Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter?

A: The Rode SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Adaptor, (B&H # ROSC4) would be required as well as the Lightning to 3.5mm adapter to connect the Rode VideoMic Pro to an iPhone 8.

Q: 10. Can this be used as a mic for a Bass recorder?

A: Yes, the AMT WS microphone can be used with a bass recorder.

[Mono] I have used this microphone as my go to piano mic for years. I bought this one as a spare. Less expensive than most of the competition and sounds just as good or better.

[Black] Nice quality with good protection. I'm using it for a Samson TrackPro mic and fits well.

[Low Cut/HPF] We use this mic inside our grand piano with the cover closed. Set up is so easy - we can leave it inside and just attach the XLR cable to the external box, mounted on the dolly. And the sound is excellent - much better than the mic on a boom with the cover partly open. Because the lid is closed, there is much less unwanted sound from the rest of the band. Overall, an excellent product.

[Low Cut/HPF] Great quality sound, easy setup and use. Doesn't get in the way. Easy to move between my tenor and alto without any wires hanging anywhere. Compared the sound to DPA 4099, which I thought lacked a little bit of the body of the tenor sax sound. Returned that and kept the AMT. seems like this is the best. Full wireless and no body pack is great, but you do have the transmitter on your bell which some may not like the look of. It's light though, so you don't fee it or notice.

[Mono] This is an outstanding microphone for micing a closed lid on a grand piano. While we don't need a microphone to enhance the sound in the church sanctuary it is needed to supply sound to monitors and the streaming signal. We have been using the M40 for several years and when the old one failed we immediately purchase a new one.

[End Address] I use this microphone for live performance of clarinet + live electronics. Finally I am able to be mobile and compact on the stage, not using two separate microphones (with so many holes sound source is practically everywhere in this kind of instrument). I hope this solution will also help to avoid feedback problems. Sound quality is great, but I am not expecting it to be 100% natural, since the lower microphone is pointing almost directly to the bell, getting very rich of low freqs sound. I think it will be best to combine it with wireless solution.

[Low Cut/HPF] I've been hunting a relatively inexpensive solution for our on-stage piano and this microphone has worked wonderfully!

[Solid-State] For under ... I think this is the money worth spending.Easy to install and small enough to hide.

[Mono] Comfortable way to lug around my twin-lens Mamiyaflex. Didn't cost a fortune. Bonus: easy to install.

Highly recommended. The only downside is that it doesn't look as elegant as the $100 leather strap on my Canon rangefinder. But cameras should be thought of as tools, not jewelry.
