The low-profile MX153 condenser earset microphone is built for clear vocal reproduction, especially when improved gain before feedback over lavalier microphones is desired. The mic's omnidirectional polar pattern offers enhanced plosive protection with no proximity effect. Commshield RF Filtering minimizes RF interference from nearby smartphones, and the tailored frequency response is optimized for speech intelligibility.

The SM58 dynamic capsule features a cardioid polar pattern that minimizes background noise and feedback. The brightened midrange and bass roll-off deliver that sought-after warm and clear vocal reproduction. The built-in spherical wind and pop filter reduces plosives for clean and intelligible speech.

The durable bodypack transmitter offers a lightweight, ergonomic design that is comfortable for the presenter to wear. There is also an easily accessible On/Off switch and a TA4M 4-pin input jack.

The lightweight handheld transmitter is comfortable to hold and is equipped with an On/Off button and a black identification cap. The WA621 Color ID Caps kit containing assorted colored caps is available as an optional accessory.

The BLX88 receiver employs a microprocessor-controlled internal antenna diversity feature to improve the quality and reliability of your wireless audio. Two LED displays show group and channel settings, while four LED lights indicate when the system is ready for use and the strength of the incoming audio signal. The unit offers two 1/4" and two XLR outputs for connectivity to PA systems and mixing boards.

Shure offers a variety of lavalier, instrument, headset, and handheld microphone options to adapt your BLX system as your needs evolve.

  • The WL185 cardioid lavalier mic provides exceptional clarity in spoken word applications.
  • The PGA31 is a comfortable, durable headset microphone for active performance.
  • Instrumentalists can attach the WB98H/C flexible gooseneck instrument microphone for brass, woodwind, and percussion applications.
  • The WA302 guitar cable lets you connect the bodypack transmitter to a guitar or bass.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the on/off switch have a mute option?

A: It does not have a formal mute button. You can turn it off and then on again and it will stay on the same channel.

Q: 2. Can the receiver connect to my mirrorless camera or computer to livestream a presentation?

A: Yes, you will just need to connect the Shure BLX88 Receiver to the camera's audio input or to an audio interface like B&H # FOSSOLO4G to allow for livestreaming.

Q: 3. Is this just plug and play what else I need to play my instruments do I have to connected to my computer and download software?

A: The Shure BLX24/SM58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System is not an audio interface and cannot connect directly to a computer. To connect this or any other microphone/wireless system to your computer, you would need an audio interface such as BH #FOSCARSOLO3G. The BLX24/SM58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System also does not have any support for connecting instruments. It comes with a handheld transmitter, although beltpack transmitters with an instrument input are available separately.

Q: 4. Will the receiver transmit static when the mic is off?

A: The Shure BLX4 receiver in the Shure BLX24/PG58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System with PG58 Capsule should not, in theory, create any noise when not paired with the PG58 transmitter. However, this is not a specification that manufacturers provide for their wireless products. Because this system operates on open frequencies, the receiver could be susceptible to RF activity in the area, which could manifest itself as audible static noise.

Q: 5. Can you take this audio into a cell phone or tablet?

A: You would need a compatible audio interface for the phone or tablet like the iRig Pro Duo BH #IKIRIGPRODUO.

Q: 6. Is there a version of this system with lav mics? Can you mix and match?

A: The Shure BLX188 is the version with lavalier mics. Yes you can use 1 handheld mic transmitter and 1 lav beltpack transmitter with the receiver in the same frequency band.

Q: 7. can you replace the heards on these transmitters with Beata 58 heads?

A: You cannot change the capsule on the Shure BLX288/PG58. But you can buy the Shure BLX24R/B58 which comes with a Beta 58A Capsule. This is the B&H part number BH #SHB24RB58H10

Q: 8. Am I able to record audio to be used for video with this system, or is this strictly for presenters? I'm looking for a mic system that would work for both.

A: This will work for both presenter and camera and will output two diferent levels. The XLR outputs mic level and the 1/4" outputs instrument level. If using with a camera you may need to adapt the XLR to 3.5mm with this https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387850-REG/Rode_VXLR_VXLR_Mono_Mini_Jack.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 9. BLX24/PG58-H11 What is difference in the H-11 and H-9?

A: The difference between the H9 frequency band of the Shure BLX24/PG58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System with PG58 Capsule and the H11 frequency band is the operational frequencies. H9 covers 512 to 542 MHz, and H11 covers 572 to 596 MHz. Deciding which one is best can be influenced by factors such as location (where Shure's Frequency Finder comes in handy) as well as whether you are using the new wireless system(s) alongside any existing wireless, and if so, how the new frequencies will interact with the existing frequencies.

Q: 10. Is this the frequency for Central Kentucky?

A: Yes, H10 will work in Central Kentucky. With 12 microphone reservations on this channel for that area code. You should have no problems running H10. Future reference, please feel free to visit: ShureFrenquencyFinder.com This website allows you to pick your area code, the type of shure analog system you will be using, and it will show you how compatible certain frequency bands are.

[Black] You can't beat Shure IMHO

[5.21 lb] B&H is my source for just about everything they sell that I need or can use. I had an issue initially setting this up correctly for my church. You need someone to assist to do it right. It took 3 weeks to get the channels correct doing it myself, but it works awesome. Shure is for sure my go-to brand for microphones.

[20 Hz to 20 kHz] Updated to a dual channel receiver so we can run both of our lapel mics and signal strength and clarity are great as expected with Shure products.

Our old single channel BLX4 worked well for over 7 years before starting to have some signal strength issues so if we get the same lifespan from this unit we will be very happy.

[Off/On Switch] I've used this unit on a handful of wedding ceremony gigs, all of which were outdoors. One of the gigs was incredibly windy. The lapel mic picked up wind noise (even with the wind guard) while the handheld mic had virtually no noise. However, the noise was completely tolerable given the situation. This unit is very easy to set up/sync. I've not had any issues with connectivity, signal or going out of range. Hopefully, this will remain the case going forward!

[Black] Perfect for our set up of a small student ministry to have the wireless pack for preaching plus the handheld for worship or games or another speaker

[1 to 5 V] The quality of the microphone is good, and the price was reasonable. The best part was the expert from B and H that guided me directly to this product. It would have been very difficult to find this product without the assistance of the expert sales person who earned my business.

[Black] This system is replacing a 25 year old VHF wireless unit. Sound is clear, natural and free from hiss and hum. Everything worked right out of the box. The mics will be used in our college TV studio, and although they probably won't last another 25 years... for the money we got a good deal.

[-20 to -10 dB] I purchased 2 Shure BLX14 for an event and they worked very well. Client's were handling trained dogs and throwing disc while speaking at the same time. This was my first time using a wireless headset with my dj set-up. I am very pleased.

[100 dBA] We needed the dual channel receiver to be able to have simultaneous use of a lavalier and handheld mic, and it works well. The sound is clear and without static, and simple to set up after you have done it once. Our meeting group is about 100 persons once a month in a restaurant event room. The only problem we have is that the speaker box provided by the restaurant has one mic volume control for the same 2 inputs. When the volume is set properly for the lavalier mic, we have to decrease the volume slightly when the handheld mic is used (or ensure the speaker holds the mic about 8 inches from his mouth).
