The unique design of the Tele Vue Starbeam 1x39 Finderscope Quick Release Baseoffers two modes of use: straight-through line-of-sight, or 90° angled viewing when the optical tube assembly (OTA) is pointed high overhead at or near the zenith. A mirror flips up for a more comfortable viewing angle when the tube is pointed up, and simply folds down when the OTA is pointed more parallel to the ground.

This scope is configured as an unmagnified finder with a larger 39mm aperture for a wide field of view and a 6 arc-min accuracy. In its straight-through setting, you see the natural sky with a 10 arc-minute field of view, and when using the mirror flipped up, the sky orientation is the same as when viewing through the scope's eyepiece. A center red-dot reticle helps with precise positioning and controls allow the brightness and blink rate to be adjusted.

This version of Starbeam comes with a Tele Vue Quick Release (QR) bracket and a dovetail. The QR bracket easily mounts to channels in the Tele Vue ring mounts and mounting rings—this makes installation and removal quick and easy for transport and storage, or for installation on other OTAs. The QR base will also fit on Orion and Sky-Watcher finder shoes as well as on some Vixen models not made in Japan

Q: 1. What is the maximum weight load for this tripod?

A: Recommended by Tele-Vue for their TV-76 refractor telescope which weighs 5lbs. No other specifications are given.

Q: 2. Will t b is fit a vortex diamond back spotting scope 20 x 60 x 80

A: No, the Tele Vue FoneMate Universal Digiscoping Adapter is designed to work with TeleVue eyepieces.

Q: 3. Does this kit include a star diagonal or is that included?

A: No, a star diagonal is not included, a non issue with me as I already had two of them.

Q: 4. B&H review note says Delos 8mm eyepiece is parfocal with GROUP B, what is that?

A: That is referring to compatible Parfocal Group 'B' Eyepieces. Here is a list of those eyepieces: 8 - 32mm Plossl eyepieces All DeLite eyepieces 19 & 24mm Panoptic eyepieces 3.5 - 12mm Delos eyepieces 16mm Nagler 5 eyepiece All 1.25" Nagler 6 series eyepieces

Q: 5. Will this work from a Leica Rangemaster CRF 2800.com to a Google Pixel 2?

A: The Tele Vue FoneMate Universal Digiscoping Adapter will fit your Google Pixel 2 phone but it has not been tested on a range finder.

Q: 6. How does this work with the Meade LX 600 12”? Would it be too much? I would like to do planetary photography with either a Nikon D750 or a Nikon Z6. Thanks

A: This would work with the LX600,but might be very dark/distorted. You can definitely try it with the Scope. The View just might be a little grainy due to the high magnification.

Q: 7. What I feel that needs to be better explained about eyepieces and focal lengths as in 6mm or 25mm is that the opening is tiny for 6 mm as compared with 25mm that is wider . The lower the focal length the difficult it gets to train your eye throughthe opening due to its tiny opening. My child experience with my first kid telescope that came with 6mm and 25mm eyepieces told me that 25mm is more enjoyable to use despite lower magnification than the higher magnifying 6mm which is so restrictive in the opening for my eye to keep peeking through as steadiily as I can. I think that a minimum of 10mm is acceptable to me or maybe 12mm. . Am I correct?

A: Yes that is correct. 10 or 12mm will be okay. It also depends on how large of an aperture your scope has. The bigger front opening of the scope the brighter the image.

Q: 8. I'm considering purchasing a TeleVue 90-Degree Everbrite 2 Mirror Diagonal for my Celestron 8 HD OTA. Do I need the TeleVue Schmidt Cassegrain Adapter functionality to connect the two?

A: Yes, you will need the adapter. You can go with the long or short SCT adapter. I use the short adapter with my 8 and the long with my 12 SCT.

Q: 9. Could I use this with my Meade 125 etc?

A: If your telescope has a 1.25 eyepiece opening then this eyepiece will work. To determine if your scope does I will need to know the exact Meade Model that you have.

Q: 10. What size and pitch thread is on the phonemate ?

A: They do not publish the thread pitch but it is only compatible with Tele Vue brand eyepieces: Eyepiece Compatibility: All DeLite All Delos Plössl: 55mm, 40mm, 32mm Panoptic: 41mm, 35mm, 27mm, 24mm*, 22mm, 19mm All Nagler Type 4 Nagler Type 5: 31mm, 26mm, 20mm* All* Nagler Type 6 All Ethos

[0.935 lb] I have tested the 4X Powermate with all of my eyepieces on my 12" focal length 2438mm telescope. Even when I exceeded the theorectical maximum magnification the views were good. I have also done some limited prime focus + 4X PM astrophotography of some planets, which was the primary reason I purchased the 4X Powermate. Image scale was what I hoped.

[39mm] After 25 years of being basically unhappy with the original Qwik Point that came with my Tele Vue Pronto, I bought the Starbeam and the differences are amazing: solidly made, easy-to-see (and easily variable) red spot, and a 39mm objective that I can actually see objects through. I shouldn't have waited two decades.

[0.935 lb] Contrary to my impression of the photo here on the website, the Starbeam is an extremely well-designed and well-made instrument that is simple to use. It is not a cheap piece of plastic. For me, it has been well worth the price.

[0.935 lb] I used the Tele Vue 2x Powermate to image the planets, as well as doing some visual observing. As usual, Tele Vue optics never disappoint!

Highly recommend this great addition to your eyepiece line up!

[39mm] The Televue 2 2X Powermate is a well-built item, as expected for
Televue. Compared to a standard barlow, the Powermate delivers better off-axis correction, making it more suitable for imaging. For visual use, the Powermate pretty much disappears and the observer just enjoys the greater magnification.

[39mm] Does just what it says on the tin - makes any eyepiece you have put out 4X the magnification. I can't see any degradation of the image quality when the Powermate is in place. Big and fairly expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

[1x] Got this for my Tele Vue TV85. It's basically plug and play - it bolts directly onto the scope mounting ring with supplied machine screws. Instructions on mounting and use are very clear and straightforward. Not shown on the photo is the light module at the mirror end. When turned on, it shows a blinking red alignment dot (which can be adjusted for intensity/brightness by the rotary on-off switch). Either by looking from the mirror end (mirror folded down) through the lens barrel or flipping up the mirror and looking at it at a 45-90 degree angle from the scope axis, all you do is align the blinking red dot with your target object (star, planet, terrestrial object) and, bingo, your scope is aligned with your intended viewing object. I've not closely checked the Starbeam-scope alignment yet, but there are adjustment screws in the device to center the Finderscope/red dot precisely on where your telescope is pointed/on your intended target. That said, out of the box and mounted on my TV85, the Starbeam's alignment appears to be essentially on target - i.e. it's aligned with the scope right out of the box. I'd assess this is a must have accessory if you want to cut down search times (and frustration) trying to align your telescope with your intended viewing object. A little pricey on the surface, this is a precision-machined device that functions as intended - worth every penny.

[1x] I'm using 4x Powermate for astrophotography with an E0N 72mm. The first things that I noticed was the high quality of the optics and the manufacture of the barlow. It is important tho say that I had to use several extension tubes to reach the focus point.
