The B55D Pair of Hollow Foam Popscreens from Schoeps are designed specially for use on pressure-gradient transducers in light wind and as a close-speech guard. These popscreens are designed to be effective and only slightly influence the sound of the mic. Each is made of foam but is hollow in the middle. This leads to an enclosed air volume around your mic's capsule, just as with basket-type windscreens. Your microphone must be inserted up to the stop.

It is possible to use these popscreens on the MK 4V, MK 41V or MK 4VXS microphone capsules and the corresponding CCM Compact Condenser Microphones. Any high-frequency emphasis inherent to your microphone will be compensated for.

Q: 1. Do you think this will work to isolate a desktop boom mic stand/microphone from someone tapping on the table during a podcast?

A: Tapping or smacking the table? either way you will still have some transfer to the mic stand. Best way is to shock mount your mic and isolate the stand from the desk.

Q: 2. Will this fit the Rode NTG5 ?

A: The W 140 foam windscreen is designed for use with the Schoeps CMIT5U and MiniCMIT microphones which both have a 21mm diameter while the NTG5 has a 19mm diameter, so the windscreen may be too loose. The W 140 is 5" long and the diameter for compatible microphones is listed as 41 to 50mm (Schoeps has confirmed that this information for the diameter measurement is correct, though it does seem unusual). We have not tested the W 140 on the NTG5. Since the chroma green W 140 is a special order item that is not returnable, you may want to hold off and test out one of the black or blue W 140 windscreens first, which are eligible for return. You may also want to try contacting Rode to ask if they have a chroma green foam windscreen available that will fit. You can reach Rode by phone at 562-364-7400. Q: 3. Can it fit a dpa 4017 capsule?

A: I it might be a bit large for your DPA Dimensions are (LxDiameter) 4.4 x 0.75". The Schoeps shotgun is Length 9.88" Diameter 0.83". The foam is Length 5.5" and the Compatible Mic Diameter 1.6 to 2".

Q: 4. It says windjammer included! which windjammer is it? if it's Olympus WJ-1, it's not compatible to this kit at all, obviously!

A: Included would be the Olympus WJ-1 Windjammer, this comes this way from the manufacturer.

Q: 5. Please let me know if those suitable with m-80?Thanks

A: I wouldn't suggest it on m-80s. I bought them. It's just sitting in my pile of VMODA accessories. Though they work well, it makes your headphones look fatter on the sides. I took it back to the regular cushions. They will function with LP, M-100, wireless crossfades, The wireless crossfades 2 comes with them but slightly smoother edges. I have a current collection of 3 Wireless Crossfade 2, 2 wireless crossfades, M100 and crossfade LP2, and Zen 1. So I'm not guessing this, I change up on the shields and cushions. I do know what looks tactful and what's tastelessM-80s are nice, I would stick to the defaultGood Luck with your decision

A: No, this kit is for use with the Schoeps MiniCMIT microphone. The Rycote Windshield Kit 2 - Complete Windshield and Suspension System (B&H # RYWSK2) is the kit that fits the CMC641.

A: The general rule for getting good dialogue with any shotgun mic, is to get as close as possible to the subject. 5 to 6 feet would be the maximum distance, based on surrounding ambient sound, that is suggested.

[Foam] This Schoeps foam ball microphone windscreen is the best item in my mic kit to guarantee clean, clear sound in the windiest exterior environment. Without needing to resort to a full microphone zeppelin, this windscreen gives good sound without gusts of wind rumbling through. 5

[Foam] MK22 cartridges are halfway between the MK21 Wide Cardioid and the MK4 Cardioid - fairly directional but with extended base response. I frequently record in highly reverberant venues, such as cathedrals. Used as space microphones, the MK22 gives a clear sound with good stereo image, and a good balance with ambience. I plan to use them on a 1 meter stereo in ORTF configuration, with a pair of spaced MK22 microphones. Omnis tend to be muddy in this application and cards lose the warmth I seek. The MK22s will form the core sound - everything else is just for emphasis. MK22s are also effective for chamber music, often in conjunction with a pair of MK2H (far field) Omnis. 5

[Foam] The real deal for light wind . For strong wind I’d use Rycote furry muffs . But these work great for my MK41V’s 5

[Foam] While it took 11 weeks for them to arrive (due to Covid), I am very pleased to have this matched pair. They are great as a main pickup or for spot mic'ing. When neither a cardioid or an omni capsule will do, this is the perfect choice. 5

[Foam] Absolutely fantastic, and absolutely necessary for your Schoeps microphone capsules. The modular series of Schoeps mics are incredibly wind sensitive, and this little screen gives you the freedom to whip the mic around safely in an indoor environment. However, this will NOT cut it when outdoors, you need to get a separate zepplin for that (although you really should just use another microphone). 5
