Styled in a black finish, this Warm Audio WA-84 Omnidirectional Microphone Capsule Blackfrom Warm Audio WA-84 Omnidirectional Microphone Capsule Blackis designed to be used with the company's WA-84 microphone. That condenser mic features an interchangeable capsule design, so you can plug in cardioid capsules to get a directional response and this omnidirectional capsule to get an even frequency response both on or off axis.

This capsule helps the mic to achieve the microphone's 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range. When it's plugged into the WA-84, you'll note that it achieves a flat frequency response between 20 Hz and approximately 4.5 kHz, where there's a subtle dip before the capsule gives you a flattering boost in the higher, airier frequencies between roughly 7 and 16 kHz.

A: This will work with the Rode Go systems very well, I've used them together in the past and overall had a good experience. A: Yes you can.

Q: 8. What are people using to mount these, and to minimize clothing noise?

[0.175 lb] I am of the humble opinion that for $ there is no better single channel mic pre on the market. The harmonic distortion on this unit is absolutely yummy!

[0.175 lb] I bought a pair of these about a year ago to use as piano close mics for a jazz duo album, and Ive been impressed every time Ive used them after that.

Since then, Ive used these whenever I have an instrument which needs just a little more warmth and a little less brilliance (oboes, recorders, piccolos, sax players desiring a dark tone, etc.). Not only that, the WA-47jr has become my voice-over mic of choice. It suits baritone and bass voices extremely well.

Think of this mic as a perfect contrast to the modern ideal female vocal mics- a round, warm tone, but with vastly better-defined highs than even the best ribbons. When someone wants a dark tone, this is it!

The only issues I had with the mic were-
- The default shockmounts are absolutely terrible- the thumbscrew mechanism was barely able to hold the mic in place. I understand why they included them, but the first thing I did was order of a pair of replacement mounts.
- My old Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (1st Gen) had trouble with background noise. Not sure if it was an impedance, phantom power, or other issue, but using a higher-end preamp, these work flawlessly. I guess its just however those two devices are designed doesnt quite play nice.

Hands-down, this is easily my top recommendation for a LDC under $300, especially for male/low voice and acoustic instruments. Multiple polar patterns, highs that dont sound like garbage, good off-axis coloration, and solid noise performance.

[Condenser] I did a good bit of research and am glad I decided on the Warm Audio WA-47 tube microphone. Great addition for my home studio. I'm using it for both music production and voice over. Interfacing with ART Voice Channel. Love the rich smooth sound. No limitations, complaints or areas for improvement.

[Condenser] I have four 84s and had to have a pair (from 1975) serviced for capacitors and a bias adjustment. One of the capsules had a loose need/pin and caused that mic to almost sound like an omni. Probably a backplate problem. I had the capsule replaced with a new one from Neumann and can't believe how perfectly it matched the other old one from the pair. No noticeable difference between the two, even next to each other above a drum kit. Amazing.

[Omnidirectional] After letting it warm up for an hour I sang into it for the first time and the tones it captured (through a UAD Neve preamp) brought a tear to my eye. It's like this mic was made just for me; I've never sounded better.

It's great on my jumbo Guild acoustic, too. I'm looking forward to putting this mic through the paces in the studio over the next few months.

Packaging is great. Build quality is great. Tone and character is amazing. On one hand I feel like I don't need any more mics in my collection after this, but on the other hand I'm really curious to check out more of Warm Audio's products... I think maybe another mic or two and some rack gear wouldn't hurt.

[0.175 lb] This thing is AMAZING! Best investment I've made for my studio. I use an AKG 414B XLS-II and run it through this baby. The tone beast gives it a certain brightness for crisp vocals, but also allows for warmth as well depending on which setting you choose. Run your mic through the front or back, or both if you have 2. A great mic needs a great pre...and this is just the pre for the job.

[0.175 lb] I have been very happy with this purchase. As with all mics, the best results will come from working with them to make sure they're right for the task. I use this primarily as a vo mic and it works very well with my voice.

[Condenser] I already have two mics: AKG C 214 and C 2000. This new one gives me a new color to my small collection, transparent sound, almost no noise, great natural sounding timbre... for sure, the right choice avoiding similar sound among my mics.

[Omnidirectional] In terms of noise, distortion, sensitivity, coloration and (as far as I could tell, polar pattern) there's nothing to fault. It's a very good LDC mic.

Such high fidelity reveals everything in the recording environment too. I would have to spend a fortune on acoustic treatment and sacrifice other uses for my room before I could tolerate the sounds it produces here.

Analogy: an ultra hi-res camera reveals all the things impairing the focus and contrast in your photos: defocus and motion blur, lens deficiencies, etc.
