Q: 1. Can these speaker cables be used in the wall?

A: That is not their intended use. They are not made for installation work. They are made to use outside the wall in your home. Canare makes an excellent product and I think part of the design is made to be seen. How you use them is up to you.

A: I bought 4S11 (MFR # CA4S112B2B6). They are not fiber optic. You should call B&H if you're not sure. Customer service is very good.

A: I purchased the 4S11 6 ft cables. Made in Japan is indicated on the cables. Not sure about the connectors. These cables and connectors are high quality. Worth every dollar.

Q: 4. are there two sets per box to connect two speakers or do you have to order "2"?

A: This is single cable with banana connectors on both ends. The cable is constructed with two sections -- the red side is for connecting the hot signal and the black side is for connecting to ground. This cable will connect to one speaker. You will need a second cable to connect your second speaker. This item (B&H # CA4S112B2B12) is one Canare 4S11 cable.

A: The Audio Engine A5+ ship with 12 feet of 16AWG cable to connect the speakers together, however the binding posts will accept a banana plug terminated cable as well.

Q: 6. What can I use to split the connection for two speakers into one output? One output from the preamp going to two speakers.

A: Generally, an output may be split to two speakers with a simple "Y" type cable. Isuues arise when the impedance is too low; for instance, id the two speakers are 4 ohm and split from one output, the impedance then becomes 2 ohms; an impedance this low is almost always an issue for an amplifier. Also by changing the impedance which an amplifer is "seeing" will affect the loudness, so be aware and proceed with caution. Two 8 ohm speakers connected to one output of an amp is almost always ok, using a quality Y splitter and quality cables. Again, it WILL get louder!!
