[0.18 lb] I bought one of these for my 9 because the cheap 3rd party one I bought for my 8 was pretty useless as it was way too stretchy and floppy. A couple of times the 8 fell out the cheap case when running but thankfully landed on a soft surface both times. The official GoPro one is far superior and I'm 100% confident it won't fall out whatever I subject it to. I am very happy with my purchase. The lanyard is far superior too and very handy.
It's a little expensive but having the subscription saved me a fair bit and it's worth every penny to protect my shiny camera. I will get one for my 8 soon.

Its hanging around your neck or attached to your wrist and is protected from bumps and bounces by the well fitted silicon sleeve. The lanyard itself feels like a paracord but is sufficiently strong that you won't have to worry about it breaking and your camera crashing to the pavement. But it is also equipped with a breakaway connector. So, if you should become entangled in anything or if an unsavory individual should snatch your camera, you will be unlikely to suffer injury. The lanyard also has a slider which allows you to carry it on your wrist and tighten it. This is a very good accessory.

[Silicone] Works great, I can fill a 256 Gb card by recording for hours, or until the 12 gets too hot. Plug in a small battery back up and video away.
However, don’t recall mine getting too hot as I was recording mostly in AC conditioned rooms.
