Make handheld, mobile miking easiser with the BOYA BY-HM2, a digital handheld mic specifically designed for iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows devices. The mic offers a cardioid polar pattern to help minimize background room tone and ambience. Since cardioid is a directional pattern, it focuses the audio capture on what's in front of the capsule, minimizing the back and, to some degree, the sides.

The BY-HM2 offers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz to ensure you get a great sound. On the digital side, the mic offers recording specs up to 24-bit/96 kHz, covering the range of broadcast to studio quality. On the mic itself you'll find both mic gain and headphone volume controls.

[24-Bit ] I have used this dual microphone directly plugged in my X-T4 and the sound is great. It has a tiny preamp powered by an LR44 battery. I don't know how long it last though. Of course, it works even with the preamp turned off (i.e. with the switch in OFF/smartphone position), but you have to turn up the internal preamp of the camera in that case. I can't say for certain if it mic would work as well on a camera with a lower quality pre-amp than the X-T4, but I'm very impressive quality for the low price. 5

[Cardioid] I purchased this for a video adapter for a mirror-less FUJI camera, installed it easily. There were many higher costs options, but do not do that many videos so wanted a lower cost option. This did the job and glad I purchased it. 5

[Bus Power] After receiving this mic and making a quick test I can conclude that voice quality on the record is very good compared to the built-in microphone (I use Nikon Z6 mirrorless camera). It has pretty good voice selectivity and directionality (for the money). I also liked the metal construcion and a furry windshield, that, to my surprise does not affect the sound quality (I tested with and without windshield). The good thing is that it includes a cable for the smartphone/laptop and can be used to imporve the quality of your Zoom sound. What I didn't like is that the plastic shockmount was attached loose to the shoe base, so the mic was vobbling and I had to tighten the screw to make it feel solid. 5

[Handheld] I did a text with an XLR input on a camera and it sounds great! Definitely I recommend this Lavalier for someone working one low budget productions! G. Mota 5
