The FJ200 has a 9-stop power range in 0.1 stop increments and recycles in a fast 0.5 to 1.3 seconds. The flash has a 5/8" receiver to mount on industry-standard light stands, as well as a USB-C port for Windows and Mac firmware updates. Westcott generously provides a reflector, travel case, 30-degree grid, and a USB cable.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there any way to link this to a Good X2TN?

A: No ! must use Westcott transmiter

Q: 2. Is ti compatible with Hasselblad model H & X?

A: As the Westcott FJ200 Strobe has a 3.5mm miniphone sync terminal on the flash unit, you may use a miniphone sync cable to connect the flash to your Hasselblad camera for your usage needs. Likewise, as the Hasselblad H and X Medium Format Digital Cameras have hot shoes, you may use the Westcott FJ-X2m Universal Flash Trigger for FJ400 Strobe, B&H # WEFJX2MUWLFT, to wirelessly trigger the Westcott FJ200 Strobe. However, do note that you would have to set the flash output power manually when using the Westcott FJ-X2m Universal Flash Trigger on the Hasselblad cameras listed above.

Q: 3. what softbox can I use this light? I have 2 FJ200s and the bowens bracket also.

A: If you already own the Westcott Quick Mount S-Bracket, B&H # WE2543, for use with the Westcott FJ200 Strobe, you may use any softbox that uses the Bowens S-mount speed ring. The following link are softboxes that would be compatible for use with the above bracket. https://bhpho.to/3CTACF3 As the Westcott FJ200 Strobe also has an umbrella receptacle, the umbrella-mount softboxes on the following link would also be compatible for your usage needs. https://bhpho.to/46rwppF

Q: 4. Flashtube

A: The Westcott FJ200 Strobe BH #WE4740 uses the BH #WE4745 flashtube.

Q: 5. I have a FJ80 and a FJ X2M. I'm thinking about adding more strobes for a wedding reception. I can add 1 or 2 more FJ80s and trigger them by either the FJX2M or the FJ80. If I use 2 FJ 200s for wedding reception dance scenes,is this a bit overkill ? I want a fast recycling flash so that I won't have to worry about overheating.

A: You can add more units to the system. The quantity you use will be dependent on style and location.

Q: 6. Somebody asked if this uses a Bowens mount and someone replied yes. But I watched an FStoppers video for this light and Lee said it uses a smaller proprietary mount. This looks very similar to the new Godox AD300 Pro which uses a proprietary Godox mount. So which mount is this light actually using? Could it be the same as the AD300 Pro?

A: Yes you are right it is not a Bowens mount, they have not announced yet the size of the mount.

Q: 7. What are the flash durations at each power level?

A: Westcott does not list the flash duration of the Westcott FJ200 Strobe at all power settings. They only list the maximum and minimum flash duration, showing the t0.1 flash duration measurement (when the light is emitting 90% of total light) in normal mode is 1/260 second at full power and 1/2600 second at minimum power, and in freeze mode, the flash duration at minimum output is 1/7000 second. At the t0.5 measurement (when the light is emitting 50% of total light), at normal mode, the flash duration would be 1/800 second at full power and 1/8000 second at minimum output power, while at freeze mode, the duration at minimum output would be 1/20,000 second. For flash duration measurement at other output settings, you would have to contact Westcott directly by e-mailing them at sales@fjwestcott.com or by calling them toll-free at 1-800-886-1689 Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm ET.

Q: 8. How long will this light continuously function properly without overheating when indoors (since there is not fan)?

A: The FJ200 Strobe is designed with passive cooling that allows the unit to perform without shutting down from overheating, no matter the environment.

Q: 9. Can the power be remotely controlled via the Canon RT system?

A: Unfortunately, remote control of the FJ200 is limited to the Westcott FJ-X2m Universal Flash Trigger only.

Q: 10. What's the life of the "unreplaceable" Flashtube on the FJ200? (asking 10/6/21)

A: The flashtube can be replaced by Westcott directly. They state that the life expectancy is about 10,000 flashes.

[4.96 lb] This strobe hits the sweet spot for most of the work I do in terms of power output and portability.

I also own the FJ400 and the FJ80, but if I had to pick just one, this would be it.

It is super-packable and can easily be handheld by an assistant, no problem.

My favorite combination is this with the Rapid Box Switch, either the Octa-M or the Octa-S.

Color consistency, battery life, and intuitive menu are great.

Also great is that the FJ-X2M trigger is universal.

I teach and I can pass the trigger around to students with different camera brands and still use High Speed Sync and TTL if I want to.

[9-Stop Range] I bought this to pair with the FJ-X3 S trigger and FJ 80ii S flash and love it all. The whole Westcott system is seamless and easy to use. The digital display is bright and easy to read. Battery life is good. Refresh is fast.

[Yes] The FJ200 is much smaller and lighter than the FJ400 but it still packs a punch in terms of lighting your subject (or background). I specifically added the FJ200 to my kit to light my background or to use as a hair light. Incredibly easy to use as a solo light or as a part of a larger set of lights using the Westcott transmitter. The modeling light is not as bright as the flash output but more than enough to give you a visual reference of where the light will hit your subject.

[20 fps] I bought this and the fj 400. I'm a beginner and had no trouble getting them set up with my modifiers and trigger. I highly recommend Westcott products

[1x Monolight] I wanted this kit for location shoots. It was convenient and the light worked like it should. I still have to test it when the WiFi is spotty or none at all.

[Yes] This small and simple-to-use flash sets up quickly and delivers a lot of power. I use this with my FJ400 or as a single flash. I use to use the FJ400 when I was shooting with just a single flash but this is powerful enough for most shoots and easy to carry and set up.

[Yes] This strobes rounds out my kit that previously just included 2 400ws heads. It's handy to have a 200ws unit to light backgrounds or as a hair light. The strobe is compact and solidly built, with a good LCD screen and simple controls that get to the heart of your settings quickly. The battery that fits into the lower rear section of the strobe can hold over 400 full power pops (I haven't gone far above that so I don't know the total capacity). There's a separate charger so you'll be needing to remove the battery for that function. You cannot charge the battery in the strobe. An AC adapter is optional and it will require that you remove the battery to use it. Also part of the kit is a retaining ring that can hold colored gels (included) or the rigid baffle for light control. Perhaps the only negative is that you'll need the optional adapter to accept larger modifier mounts, such as the Bowens S. If you don't need that, then leave the light stand/pivot bracket on the strobe head that's included in the kit. Other standard parts in this set include a reflector, USB A to C cord for firmware updating, and a carry case. Recycle time is really fast, even after a full power burst. Remote control via the multi-camera FJ-X2m. All in all, this is a very competent, fairly priced strobe head.

[1x Monolight] I purchased this as an addition to my current setup of 2 FJ400 strobes. This light and portable and also packs a lot of power. This is a great addition to an existing setup or as a light for your first strobe purchase!
