A: YES...Just unscrew the laser tip, which is how you turn it on and off, and the batteries will be just inside the long part of the site. I think it takes 2 small watch style batteries. I often do 2 stops when subject is 7 to 10 feet in front or more, but if my subject is closer, I will try to lower the wrap around effect by lowering the light to 1 stop more than the key, or less. I know some people are not even trying to get pure white because of this and will settle with a very light grey, then make it white is post production.
