ONE NOTE: I discovered that the supplied carrying case is a snug fit, and can change your switch settings. I lost audio for 1 take, and that was my fault for not double-checking. Two thumbs up. 5

[Cardioid] For outstanding clarity and resolution in a portable (hand-held) instrument nothing compares to these binoculars - period. I guess that's why they were standard kit on the Space Shuttle and ISS. While a little bulky, this is more than compensated by the viewing experience. They would continue to sell at twice the price. 5

[Black] I have been through more budget-friendly shotgun mics than I can shake a stick at. If I were to add up the costs of each, I could have probably purchased two of these SoundBird mics. Excellent build quality. The best sound of anything I had previously recorded with (again, I spent years on cheap shotgun mics). The case is great as well. I would maybe be more critical coming from from a mic of over $1k but after watching lots of reviews on YouTube I was pretty confident in this purchase and do not regret it. 5

[Solid-State] Went through a number of other products that were not compatible with applications where we were needing external audio. This was the first device we came across that worked as we had hoped. It works very well, provides clean audio, appropriate levels both to and return. Allows for phantom power and is small enough not to be too cumbersome. We are using this mainly for Comrex Field Tap but also for Facebook Live and Skype. Some other devices we tried only worked with proprietary recording apps. 5
