[Cage] Excellent quality and performance for a generic/universal cage. Feels solid and rigid. I personally don't use the hot shoe connection to secure the camera, I use only the camera screw, which makes it much quicker/easier to attach (I'm reasonably gentile with the rig, so skipping the hot shoe connection isn't concerning me). Currently using the cage with an EOS R, and the cage is just tall enough for that camera model when utilizing the shorter 4.9-inch side rod (the longer side rod included with the kit being 5.7 inches in length). All parts of the cage can be reversed so that the side rod is on the right, EXCEPT for the wood handle, because the wood is carved to fit your left hand. Note that there is side-to-side adjustment provided for the top and bottom cheese plates (i.e. camera plates), effectively allowing you to position the side rod closer or further from your camera body (an adjustment option that is easy to overlook). The cheese stick within the top handle can be loosened and rotated around its long axis in order to give some adjustment as to which threaded holes are facing upward, however you will need to supply your own 2.5mm hex wrench (the only size of hex wrench not furnished by the manufacturer). My only quibble (minor) is that the camera screw does not have a D-ring on the bottom end to permit secure tightening without a screwdriver. I personally have not used the wood handle very much (unneeded in my use case), so I can't comment on the frequent criticism that this CAMVATE wood handle design (which is used in multiple CAMVATE products) tends to develop slop in its connection regardless of how much you try to tighten it.

[Cage] Can't ever go wrong with SmallRig. I like that a coldshoe mount was designed on the right side of the cage. Helps keep the rig neat and tidy.

[Aluminum] For the price it doesnt get much better than this. I cant envision myself ever spending $200+ on something like this after buying this product. The build quality is fantastic - absolutely no loose points or any wobbling once you take your time to get it adjusted to your setup. Connection points everywhere, all the hardware fits perfectly and the tools you need to set up are included, although I was provided with an additional alan wrench that doesnt appear to fit anywhere as well as extra hardware that I cannot figure out what it was intended for - not that I think I will need it seeing as the construction is quite sturdy and the materials seem high quality. The real test will be how well it holds up over time. 


PROS: Build quality is fantastic. two different size side-rods for different camera sizes, the other can be used in the 15mm rod mount on the handle. Minimal hardware


CONS: Wood is low-quality. Might be heavier than some prefer. Not easy to just pop the camera in and out of the cage, definitely requires a bit of time for setup/breakdown

[Cage] For anyone looking for a top handle for the URSA Mini Pro, I was really happy with this purchase. I wasn't interested in paying $400 for the additional shoulder mount kit, and wasn't sure of the options. This thing is sturdy as hell and I can still mount a monitor on top, perfect addition to the camera.

[Cage] You can do a lot with this cage. A great base for any rig. With the S1Hs stabilization, you can build a handheld rig with a couple of handles, or get some rods and make a shoulder rig.The magnetic key is also convenient for screws, and an extra hot shoe goes a long way.

[Cage] A value priced cage with excellent build quality that fits my S1H well, leaving room for access to every door and button. Most importantly - it leaves room for the Panasonic audio module that sits in the camera's hot shoe. Not every cage does that - and it provides its own cold shoe on the side. Really perfect for my professional use scenarios.

[Cage] A professional camera is a significant investment. This cage doubles as protection, accessory mount, and - in my case - features a handle that serves as the mounting point, whether horizontally or vertically.


I hang the camera from this handle using a cardellini clamp. I have one clamp for its horizontal talking head position, and another where the camera hangs for a top-down view.


Regardless of circumstance, the cage and handle enable safe use of the camera, always.

[Aluminum] I bought this accessory to go with my Revo SR-1500 shoulder rig. Fits perfectly. Its definitely no Red Rock Micro, but it gets the job done. I love it and didnt have to spend a fortune.

[Aluminum] I am using this to hang my video gear. Very nice setup. Still have access to all controls, very secure fit, and light weight. Plus affordable.
Recommend over all other cages on the market.
