Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this ballhead hold nikon d800 plus 80-400 mm lens?

A: The combined weight of the Nikon D800 DSLR camera and the Nikon is 5.43 lbs. As such, the would work to support your camera/lens setup. While it is personal preference, as a safety precaution, I typically like recommending tripod heads with a maximum load capacity that is 3x higher than the combined camera/lens setup weight. As such, my personal recommendation would usually be for the Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with B2-mAS Mini Clamp, B&H # REBH40PRO, or if you needed a head with a smaller base diameter, the Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Mini Screw-Knob Clamp, B&H # REBH30PRO, is a good option, but yes, the Really Right Stuff BH-25 Ball Head would work for your usage needs.

Q: 2. The RRS website shows a Full Size Screw Knob option for the BH-30. That option is not shown on the B&H website. Is it an option from B&H?

A: I'm sorry, that is a version that B&H doesn't carry at the moment.

Q: 3. Has anyone had any experience with the FB-52 ballhead?

A: The majority of Sunwayfoto ball-heads sold by B&H have 4 to 5* reviews. Most of their other products have the same ratings. We feel that you will be satisfied with your purchase of this head.

Q: 4. Looking to use the BH-40 Ball Head with the Wimberly Arca Sidekick with the new OM 15-600 lens @ 4.55 lbs. Will this work?

A: Yes, Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with Full-Size Screw-Knob Clamp has a standar arca clamp which is fully compatible with Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapter.

Q: 5. Comparing this ball head to the smaller FB-44III ball head (BH #SUFB44III) shows this has a lower load capacity (44 lb vs 66 lb). Is this correct? Shouldn't this larger version have the greater load capacity?

A: While it may seem the FB-52 should have a larger maximum load capacity, according to Sunwayfoto's website, the Sunwayfoto FB-52 Ball Head has a maximum load capacity of 20 kg, which is 44.1 lbs. The Sunwayfoto FB-44III Ball Head has a maximum load capacity of 30 kg, which would be 66.1 lbs. If you need more assistance, you may contact Sunwayfoto directly by e-mailing them at service@sunwayfoto.com.

Q: 6. Will this be okay to use with an a7Riii and a Fe 24-70mm f4? Seem to be under the 8lbs weight requirement, just not sure how it is in real-world use for traveling.

A: Yes it will be. This head has an 8.8 pound load capacity, the combination of A7RIII and FE 24-70 F/4 lens are well under that load capacity.

Q: 7. Will this work on a Nikon D750 Camera?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. Will this fit on the Feisol TT-15 Mark 2 Mini Carbon Fiber Tabletop Tripod?

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Mini Screw-Knob Clamp is compatible with the FEISOL TT-15 Mark 2 Mini Carbon Fiber Tabletop Tripod, B&H # FETT15M2.

Q: 9. Does this truly pan 360 degrees or is panning achieved only by movement of the ball?

A: The BH-25 will pan by the movement of the ball head. The BH-30 will have a seperate panning lever. See: https://bhpho.to/2yDP42r.

Q: 10. I am really confused as to what is needed to use this ballhead. I just bought the tripod, about to purchase a ballhead_but it doesnt come with a camera mounting plate? I look for wat I think is a mounting plate to use with my R5 and I'm not sure what I am looking at and what I am looking for. Can't find anything on the website that resembles other sites for comparison. Help

A: RRS heads do not come with plates, and they primarily recommend dedicated plates that fit your camera exactly that work with the BH55, such as these ones: https://bhpho.to/2T8XHjW https://bhpho.to/3rNsilf

[Black] I love these ultralight bits. Always reliable and work well. I am not a fan of the wooden camera versions as the screw in base just never locks in enough. This tie down does the trick and you can really crank it to lock it in!

[Aluminum] Great for use on camera, a lot more adjustable than the ones without cutouts with only slightly compromised grip because of the smaller surface contacting the ball.

[Black] Not as versatile as the double cutout but having only one half cutout makes the connection stronger while still allowing the ability to mount in more directions. Also a vibrant touch of red for A cam folks.

[Black] The ULCS triple ball clamp with cut-outs on both sides is ideal when you want to mount a light and GoPro to a hot shoe, or a Go-Pro or light to the joint between two arms. Having the notches gives you extra flexibility in the angles the arms can reach. In my case, it helped tremendously when using a GoPro with a very wide angle lens, and a focus/video light. I was easily able to move the focus light out of the field of view of the camera. The standard non-cutout triple clamp doesn't work nearly as well for this purpose. The clamps don't seem to have lost any clamping strength by adding the cutouts. Highly recommended!

[0.165 lb] I have black clamps, black arms, black floats, a black housing, black port....you get the idea. Having red colored T-knobs for the clamps makes it easier to grab and adjust the knobs, without having to look to see which side of the arms the knob is on, or to even have to think about it. They are an exact perfect fit and replacement for the OEM ULCS T-knobs. Love them!

[Aluminum] I replaced all of the T-knobs on my underwater camera rig (all 7 of them), as with a black housing, black arms, black floats, and black clamps with black T-knobs, it wasn't always obvious which way the T-knobs were facing. Adding this Red T-Knob to my black clamps instantly solved the problem, and makes quick adjustments underwater easy and fast, without thinking! The machining and quality of the knobs is superb, and matches the quality of all the other ULCS products.
