The 100x100mm UV/IR Cut Filter for Iceis an ultraviolet and infrared control filter that is useful for digital cinematography and still photography. While recording video with a CCD or CMOS camera, multi-stop neutral density filters are used to maintain proper exposure by compensating for increased light levels when widening the camera lens' iris to obtain a narrower depth of field. As the increased amount of light passes through multi-stop neutral density filtration, visible light is progressively blocked, while infrared light is allowed to pass through. As the proportion of infrared light that reaches the camera sensor becomes greater, the results can show unwanted color shifts, particularly in dark areas of the frame, such as shadows where the appearance of black is dominant.

When the Ice 100 x 100mm UV/IR Cut Filter is applied, ultraviolet light waves and infrared light waves are suppressed, helping to ensure that light falling on a camera sensor is limited to the visible spectrum. When used along with multi-stop neutral density filters, potential infrared color shifts are prevented or minimized, preserving color accuracy throughout the frame. This filter may also be used to help ensure that the appearance of unwanted blue casts is reduced while recording video or still photos under daylight that also features intense ultraviolet light.

This filter cuts UV rays below 390nm and above 750nm, providing 99.4% light transmission between 400-700nm. The front surfaces of the filter include seventy layers of interference coatings, which limit the light that falls on a digital camera sensor to the visible spectrum. This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. This 100x100mm filter is 2mm thick and fits filter holders, including the Haida M10, ICE PRO, Kase K9, LEE, Cokin Z, and more.

Filters out UV rays below 390nm and above 750nm

Provides 99.4% light transmission between 400-700nm

Suppresses ultraviolet light waves, reducing the bluish cast of daylight when recording video or still photos.

Useful with CCD or CMOS sensors to filter out infrared light pollution that causes color shifts frequently associated with high-definition recording with multi-stop neutral density filters.

Does not require exposure adjustment while in use.

Seventy layers of interference coatings on the front surface limit light that falls on a digital camera sensor to the visible spectrum.

Constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity.

Plastic case included for storage and transport.

This 100 x 100mm filter is 2mm thick and fits most 100mm filter holders.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the filter come with a case?

A: Yes, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (95mm, 16.5-Stop) comes with a case.

Q: 2. Which solar filter is for the Nikon 400 mirrorless lens?

A: The Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lens can use the Tiffen Solar ND Filter (46mm, 16-Stop), B&H # TI46ND48. Note, it is not ISO 12312-2 certified. It should not be used to look directly at the sun with our eyes. It can be used for the camera to take a photo of the sun. Look only in the LCD live view to compose the photo. Do not look in an optical viewfinder.

Q: 3. Can I use this with the nikon Z 24-70 F4? The nikon website lists diameter as 77.5.

A: The Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens has a filter thread of 72mm. If you want to attach the filter directly to the lens with an adapter, you would want to get his option instead: https://bit.ly/3ujiIec

Q: 4. What color will the sun be orange or white ? The sample photos show both.

A: The NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop) will provide the most color-neutral results. The saturation of the color is based on post image editing and/or the brightness of the sun.

Q: 5. Can it be used on NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens ?

A: Yes the B+W UV-IR Cut #486 MRC Basic Filter (46mm) is compatible with the Nikon 800mm f6.3 Z lens.

Q: 6. How much reduction in UV and IR spectrum, respectively, is specified? I understand the reduction in visible light is 16.5 stops.

A: Unfortunately, Nisi does not specify how much of the IR and UV is reduced for NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop). They do state that the UV and IR cut is to offer a color neutral result. Therefore the UV and IR cut should not be relied upon for anything else other than offering an image that is color neutral.

Q: 7. is this appropriate for shooting solar eclipses?

A: Yes, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (67mm, 16.5-Stop) can be used for solar eclipse shots. Note, it is not safe for direct viewing of the Sun.

Q: 8. What order should this go on the lens? Before or after mist filter?

A: I recommend placing the NiSi 82mm UV IR-Cut Filter for True Color VND and Swift System first, since it is the clearest filter, and stacking the mist filter after.

Q: 9. Could this be used for video? We are hoping to use a Canon XF105 to livestream the upcoming solar eclipse.

A: Yes, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter can be used for video as well as photography.

Q: 10. Is this the filter to use for Leica M8 to not get purple blacks? In other words the same as what Leica supplied for M8 buyers?

A: The B+W UV-IR Cut #486 MRC Basic Filter (49mm) blocks 88% of ultraviolet light waves and 95% of infrared light waves.

[Glass] This filter has greatly enhanced my photos of the night sky. I use a Canon EOS 6D Mark II that has a full spectrum modification and this filter helps reduce the red spectrum which makes the picture look more natural.

[0.195 lb] Filter have a slim design. Build quality is good. Eliminate Ir cut pollution on my bmpcc6k totally.

[IR/UV Control] When used for astro photography, there is little lens distortion at the edge of field on an 90mm dia F4 scope / lens. Star roundness is more difficult to achieve as compared to regular day time photography. This lens is very usable and appears to be relatively uniform across the entire field of view at F4

[Glass] If you use ND filters on BM pockets, you need this filter. period. Works beautifully and seamlessly.

[Glass] Less expensive then Hoya, but do the same job. Blackmagic Pocket 6k mostly suffers ir pollution. Ice ir cut eliminate it. On hard ND stops gives little green tint, that can be changed in postproduction.

[Glass] The filter works well, but the delivery was a week later than promised! I received it 2 days before I left Seattle so all photo shoots were cancelled
