The xSPINE Vest from FLOWCINE is the world’s first universal vest made for all kinds of camera operators in mind, made for versatility and moveability. The xSPINE can currently be used for Steadicam™ operation both as front and back mount in various configurations. It also allows the operator to mount a gimbal support system such as the GLINK. There will be more mounting options and accessories down the road as well. The xSPINE is a low-weight, 8.6 lb vest designed to be as comfortable and rigid as possible. The pads include a dual layered air mesh system with air channels, enabling good ventilation while at the same the memory foam makes the vest very comfortable to wear. All parts are made with strong carbon fiber and/or low-weight aluminum, creating a rigid cage that equally distributes the carried payload in the best way possible.

All main sections such as front, back and sides can be detached with quick release pins, to allow the vest to be packed down in a very slim format. All parts are also fully adjustable for different operator sizes. The curved carbon fiber bars in the front keeps the chest region free to ease breathing, also making it an excellent choice for all body size operators. The xSPINE incorporates dual locked ladder strap adjustments in the front, quickly enabling the operator to adjust settings on the fly, and be able to open up or close any side of the vest. The buckles are designed so no accidental opening can be performed, while still allowing the operator to open them safely even while carrying payload to perform adjustments or corrections while resting. The extra wide straps keep the vest as rigid as possible while maintaining an easy procedure for opening and closing the vest. The xSPINE ships in a soft bag that has room for the vest and the optional xBONE CF. There is also a hard Peli case for rougher travel as an accessory.

Q: 2. So you are advising us if we own a Steady Cam solo not to buy this Vest and Arm? BEST ANSWER: This arm and vest kit is made for the DNA line of Glide Gear stabilizers. You might be able to use other systems with it, however we do not advise it. The DNA 5050 would work very well on this unit.

A: For for Steadicam-type stabilizers, we suggest keeping the vest, arms and sleds in the family since they are all meant to work together. This is easier for those operators starting out. Now historically, the Steadicam, the invention of a tinkerer, has always engendered mixing and matching and moding. If you wish to do so, you are of course free to do what you wish. However, since the permutations are endless, we cannot vouch for the efficacy of what ever combination you are considering.

Q: 3. Does it work with the crane 3?

A: Yes, you will be able to mount the Crane 3 on to this arm and vest kit. Keep in mind that this kit supports and gimbal and camera set up that weighs between 6 to 13 pounds. The Crane 3 weights around 4-5 pounds and has a 10 pound load capacity. You would need to keep the total weight of the Crane 3 and camera between 6-13 pounds for this to work, which is possible.

A: Yes you can. This system fits any gimbal with a 1/4"-20 base which includes the DJI Ronin-S.

A: We do not recommend this system with a camera the size of the Sony FS7. First it will require a Glide Gear Stabilizer and the options that will work will have a hard time handling the weight of the FS7.
