The VD-Mic is just 3.1" long and weighs only 1.4 ounces, making it a stealthy companion for your camera or mobile device. The durable aluminum construction helps to fight against RF disturbance.

Utilizing a cardioid polar pattern, the VD-Mic focuses on sounds in front of it while reducing distracting noises behind it. This makes it well suited for use in noisy environments and ambience-heavy spaces.

The VD-Mic has an extended frequency response (100 Hz to 20 kHz) and high sensitivity, allowing it to yield detailed audio whether you're recording dialogue, instruments, or nature sounds.

With no need to change or charge batteries, the VD-Mic runs on plug-in power for enhanced convenience. Record quickly and never miss an important moment.

The VD-Mic is supplied with two 3.5mm cables—one TRS and one TRS to TRRS—to enable proper connectivity with cameras, camcorders, portable audio recorders, smartphones, and tablets. The cables feature a coiled design and right-angle connectors to maintain neatness in operation.

The included Rycote detachable shockmount effectively prevents unwanted vibration noises caused by body movements and device operations.

The artificial fur windshield aids in reducing wind noise while protecting the mic from weather and dust. This is especially helpful when shooting outdoors.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can I connect this to lightening or USB-C for mobile recording?

A: Yes.

Q: 2. How do you know what to connect where? The 3 ring side or the 2 ring side into the mic or camera?

A: There are two cables included with the Deity Microphones V-Mic D4 Mini Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone. One is 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS and the other is 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRRS. The TRS connector has two rings and the TRRS connector has three rings. The TRS connectors should be used to connect to the mic output and also to connect to a camera's mic input or to the input on a recorder. The TRRS connector is for use with a mobile device and can be used with adapters to enable compatibility for connection to iOS or Android devices like iPhones, iPads, and other smartphones and tablets.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with Nikon Z6 ?

A: Yes, fully compatible.

Q: 4. I'm looking to save space vertically. (from the mount, upwards) Is this the same size vertically as the D4 DUO?

A: Yes the V-Mic D4 and V-Mic D4 Duo will take up the same amount of verticle space. The Duo is a slighly larger mic though.

Q: 5. David what cable would work for this?

A: This microphone includes a TRS (for most recorders and cameras) cable, and also a TRRS cable (for connection to smartphones, and laptops which use a combination jack for mic/headphones).

Q: 6. Is this just the Duo without the rear facing mic?

A: Correct this is the regular one capsule version.

Q: 7. Is there a deadcat accessory for this mic?

A: There is not a deadbeat that is specifically designed for it, but the Saramonic M3-WS slides right over the Vmic Mini's windscreen and works extremely well.

Q: 8. What is the pinout of this unit with and without the input jack attached? Is the capsule attached to both L, R? Does the input replace the capsule = R? Does it take L, R, or Both on input for the R channel output?

A: When using the Deity Microphones V-Mic D4 Mini Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone on its own, the signal captured by the microphone capsule is sent to both the left and right channels of the 3.5mm output connection. When using the V-Mic D4 Mini with a secondary input source, the microphone signal is allocated to the left channel of the output connection while the secondary source uses the right channel.

Q: 9. I did not receive a user manual for the Vmic mini, How do I connect it or get it to work?

A: There is no manual because it is just as easy as plugging it into your camera, phone or tablet. There are 2 cables included, one TRS output cable for cameras and a TRRS output cable for mobile devices. The TRS output cable has right-angled connectors on both sides, while. the TRRS output cable has right-angled connector for the mic and straight connector to plug into the mobile device.

Q: 10. Does this Synco mic M1s work with a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra?

A: The Synco Mic-M1S Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone can be used with an Android smart phone as long as you have a 3.5mm to USB-C audio adapter such as BH #SASRC2003.

[Black] I highly recommend this mini shotgun mic to anyone looking for a compact setup with good sound and value for money. I use it both atop my camera while recording to capture the sound of subjects in the environment, as well as on a mini tripod for voice chats. It works best when your subject is close to the mic, within about 1 metre.

[Cardioid] This is the first mic I have bought to record sound for social media. Before buying I read reviews of external mics and watched online demos on how to use one. Since I set my PC sound controls correctly for a USB mic, the V-Mic D4 Mini has worked well. After throwing together a quick voice box for a shotgun mic, the small amount of ambient noise was easy to remove. I like the D4 Mini's sound clarity for both music and voice. The suggested recording range in dB in Audacity for an external mic obtains a full sound from the D4 Mini without distortion from overdriving the signal. Overall, the sensitivity of the D4 Mini means the quality of recorded sound depends on the acoustic treatment for this shotgun mic's cardiod pickup pattern. The included dead cat does help in isolating desired sound. The TRS to TRRS dongles plug solidly into the mic's output jack and a TRRS cable. As a newbie to sound recording it took me a while to figure out how everything works. But now that I have succeeded in recording clear, crisp sound, I am happy with this Deity mic.

[0.425 lb] I have done a few tests with this mic as I try to spec out a smartphone rig for citizen, mobile, documentary filmmakers. At about 4-5 feet away from the camera, this mic captures excellent sound. It is far and away better than the sound coming out of the smartphone mic. The included dead cat does a nice job of mitigating the effect of wind. I love the ability to connect a second mic to this one. I highly recommend this mic for this kind of basic production.

[Solid-State] "What!? No way!" I did not expect this little mic to make me happy. I wanted cheap knock around mics that I wouldn't have to fuss over. I got tired of lugging XLR shotguns and recorders for field work when shooting docos etc. (not to mention the stress of looking after said gear in the elements). A matter of diminishing returns for time and energy invested, plus the risk of gear failure & gear damage.

Great value with included windjammer and cables. I bought two for stereo recording ambience etc, but I'm going to use it for back up interview audio instead. It's not great audio, but there's nothing really wrong with it either. The sound quality & levels for this little mic blew me away. Not bad at all for something that's camera mic jack powered. This mic is ridiculously good value for money. I have no problem using this for most paid gigs.
