Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this work with Ableton Live 9?

A: This interface will work fine with most popular DAWs including Ableton LIVE 9.

Q: 2. How much is the transformer for 5V input ?

A: We do not have the Tascam branded power supply for this unit, You may wnat to contact them directly. If you would like a universal power supply this one would work for you: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/574791-REG/Hosa_Technology_ACD_477_ACD_477_Universal_Power_Adapter.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 3. Does it's class compliantness allow me to use it with Linux? How am i "punished" for this? Do i still get the 16 in/8 out?

A: The TASCAM US-16x08 USB Audio/MIDI Interface (BH # TAUS16X08) includes drivers that have been re-written from the ground up, providing improved compatibility and performance on Mac, Windows and iPad recording systems. LINUX drivers are not available. Note: Driver Software The US-16x08 includes a driver architecture that was written in-house by TASCAM engineers. The Windows driver software can be installed without connecting the interface, with simple on-screen instructions. Mac users can use the interface without installing a driver at all. Simply install the control panel software in order to change device settings. Finally, the class-compliant driver allows it to be used with tablets like Apple's iPad. (Requires Apple's Camera Connection Kit for USB connection, not included)

Q: 4. Sitting at a computer for prolong periods can cause spinal discomfort from degenerative disc disease. With that said, in simultaneously recording 16 channels interfacing, a term I know little about, with a software platform means foregoing standalone units with built-in mixing that I would find physically easier. I am just learning of sound recording have last worked with a Teac 4-track recorder, so I am admittedly intimidated technically overwhelmed by this approach. However, since someone bestowed upon me an iPad (that I have little idea of what it does), interfacing seems the most inexpensive way to approach the aforementioned goal of learning to simultaneously record a sizable number of tracks. As a revived joy of music has given me brighter days in anticipation of helping others enjoy, too, what resources exist to begin to grasp merely the basic concept of interfacing, which I presume means using an editing software. I sincerely am asking pointing me toward materials availability on this subject. Our wonderful B&H resource (that is to say, staff) has put together a collection of books on various audio and other topics. Any suggestions on where to start, please? Respectfully, Jeff F.

Q: 5. can this be used with a usb hub, a powered hub? i only have one usb-c port om my computer.

A: It is recommended that you use a powered USB hub.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with DaVinci Resolve?

A: This interface is compatible with DaVinci Resolve, which requires USB connected audio interfaces. According to users, DaVinci Resolve generally requires the sample rate to be set to 48kHz.

Q: 7. I have the Adobe Creative Cloud and I work on an HP workstation. Does this supply 16 separate channels of audio to Adobe Audition over a single USB cable? Would I need a special adapter to record the separate channels of audio?

A: No special adapters are needed. And it will supply all 16 separate channels of audio. 8 on XLR connectors and 8 on 1/4" TRS connectors. Make sue all required drivers are installed.

Q: 8. I am concerned that one day in the future, Tascam will stop updating the Driver/app you need to get all 16 inputs into your DAW. If that happens, I guess you just get the 1st 8 mic inputs, which would work for me but who wouldn't like to have all the features work all the time?

A: If such a thing should come to pass in the future. That will be out dated and you will buy a new one with many inputs.

Q: 9. The specs don't mention drivers for using the 16x08 interface with Android tablets. Are there drivers for Android?

A: There are no Android drivers or apps available.

Q: 10. Is that thing REALLY 52 long?

A: I know it seems hard to believe and you will be relieved to know it is not 52 long. If it was 52 long it would be 4.3 feet. The true dimensions are 17.5 x 2.3 x 8.6 . It seems to be an error that can be found in several places. Those are the correct dimensions.

[USB 2.0] Having a home Studio consisting of 2 rooms of Analog and Digital this Tascam interface is great. The onboard Digital Mixing Console is great for those who do not have a physical console.

[1x USB-C] I had a us-1641, which is the predecessor to this model. It was no longer supported on the later versions of Mac OXS, and now macOS. I was forced to upgrade to the us-1608. It is a great device, has a smaller footprint, and works better than the 1641. I recommend this product. It works great with GarageBand and Logic Express 9.

[-128 dBu ] We are using our Tascam US-16x08 USB Audio/MIDI Interface to connect several XLR mics and bring them into a laptop that we use for Zoom. After setting up the Tascam in t Upload he Settings Panel, the mics now get mixed and flow through the USB cable into the laptop. Zoom picks up the combined mics as if they are one device. This combined mic output can also be sent via the line out to be used by a wireless hearing system for hearing-challenged people. The Tascam is easy to set up, connects to multiple devices, and simple to operate via its software.

[3.215 lb] It has low noise and isn't plagued with EMI issues like my last interface. It works out of box for Windows 10.

The things I could ding it for are, no channel independent phantom power and I wish it had a little bit more gain, but it's OK for me for now.

[-128 dBu ] I use this with four analog microphones to capture presentations for hybrid meetings involving Zoom. This works very well. Online participants can hear what is being said at the meeting and the output of the interface feeds well into the sound system so the in-person attendees hear what is being said via the Zoom participants. Each mic output has its own volume control. Problem solved.

[1.75 W] I ended up getting this audio interface after looking into the available options. Some of the other options seemed to be very hyped up, but a little digging showed some of the products failing after a short period of time.

This one flew under the radar but had some great reviews, particularly the one from Julian Krause on YouTube. The price was great and, so far, it's working as advertised.

Amazingly quick delivery by B&H!

[8.4 x 8 x 4.1"] When I bought it, I had Windows 8.1, no issues at all.All 16 channels plus MIDI work beautifully.I love that I can record 16 channels simultaneously. If you want to record stereo, as someone else suggested in their review, just assign 2 channels to the stereo track - perfect!I now have Windows 10 installed and it works better than ever.I am running Pro Tools 11.3.1 on a PC laptop.I can't say enough good about my purchase, you won't find another 16-channel interface near this price, and top quality with rack ears included if needed.

[3.215 lb] This interface does everything I need it to do and more. I am finally able to record my drum kit in to Garage Band using multiple microphones with a separate track for each. Works awesome. there are more features that will come in handy like the pre amps for when I record to tape. I highly recommend this unit.

[2] Cool that it can be a standalone mic pre, tho I haven't needed that. The mixer and fx function well.
