Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the total length at collapse position? I want a stand with arm that will fit inside my Pelican 1650 case for flights.

A: I contacted the manufacturer to confirm the collapsed length of the Auray MS-5220T Short Tripod Microphone Stand. The collapsed length of the stand without the boom arm attached is 17.7” and 24.5” with the boom arm attached.

Q: 2. Would this stand be suitable for a shotgun mic (like the Rode NTG2)? I want to use it for interviews.

A: I believe so, it's possible you may need a different clamp than the one that comes with it. Note that although it is a telescoping boom, you still need to balance the weight, so make sure the distance is sufficient.

Q: 3. can i use this for podcast or youtube stream? what is your best mic for that?

A: The Sennheiser e 609 Microphone is designed for capturing audio from instruments and speaker cabinets. It could be used for voice, but we have many other microphones available that are better suited for voice. To best assist you in finding the best option for your application, please contact us by phone or through live chat on the website and we will be happy to help you.

Q: 4. What size Threading Adapter do I need?

A: It really depends on what device you are trying to connect. The standard threading is 5/8 -27.

Q: 5. Does this work well with a Rode Pod Mic? Or too heavy?

A: Yes, the Rode PodMic can be mounted on the Auray MS-5230T tripod mic stand. You may want to use sand bags on the base of the stand to prevent any movement. If you want a stand with a heavier base, the K&M 21070 Tripod Microphone Stand with 32" Boom - Black (B&H # KM21070) is a good option.

Q: 6. Does the legs can unscrew and disconnect? I want to connect table clamp to it

A: No, the legs on the Auray MS-65CL Professional Mic Stand do not unscrew and disconnect. Perhaps you may want to check out the Auray Telescoping Boom Arm Mic Stand with Table Clamp Mount (B&H # AUMSDTCL32) for a mic stand with a boom arm and table clamp.

Q: 7. What kind of mic mount does this take?

A: The MS-5230T features a 5/8 threading compatible with most standard mic clips and mounts.

Q: 8. -Is this tripod really stable to mount a Cascade Microphone New Fat Head II with its Shockmount (# CA119A MFR # 119-A)?

A: I have a iRig Studio Mic, A Metal Pop Filter, and a metal script holder mounted on this Stand. I think it should be able to handle it.

Q: 9. Do I need an adaptor to attach a Shure MV7 microphone to this mic stand?

A: No. You just unscrew the included mic clip and screw on the MV7.

Q: 10. How tall is the mic stand itself, or how hight does it extend without the boom arm?

A: The base of the Auray MS-5230T Tripod Microphone Stand reaches a height of up to 63 inches. The telescoping boom arm can extend up to 33.9". Together these components allow the MS-5230T to reach a total height of almost 96 inches when the arm is oriented directly upwards.

[Boom Stand] Good build and quality, clamps to surface securely, adjust and stay in place, I will be buying another one

[Boom Stand] I have bought a lot of boom stands over the years and have had some sorry excuses for boom stands as a result. One of the two I use that have lasted over the years and continue to be my favorites is the On-Stage MS7701TB Tripod Microphone stand with boom. The rings for tightening the mic clip are designed to be easy to turn, the boom itself is easy to tighten and release, and the telescoping boom is easy to adjust to exactly the right tightness. A good value, and not to be confused with stands whose parts break under normal use. Problems Encountered: The only thing that makes this my second-favorite stand is the fact that the boom only telescopes once - my favorite stand has two telescoping adjustments, so one can be used to adjust the length and the closer one can be used to re-align the mic just right.

[5/8"-27 Male] Very lightweight compared to other mic stands I’ve used. But still quite stable. I take this on video shoots for interviews. Setup is easy and the stand is reliable.

[Twist Clutch] This stand is the 4th best investment I've ever made. The only thing I have as concern is the fact that I don't have another job so I could buy this once more. I bought one for a Small Advertising Company that I and a Business Partner are raising and it has definitely done what it was made for. It's stable, it's light weight and most importantly, it's in my possession. Definitely recommend it.
