[3 Positions] I own lots of RRS gear. This tripod filled a niche of compactness and sturdiness that is perfect for travel. The quality is outstanding.

[Yes] Smooth and very fluid at 0F with -20F wind chill. Rigid with legs fully splayed out in extremely cold temperatures. Can operate with winter gloves on. Performed like a stellar tripod should, under duress of extreme conditions. RRS is worth the investment.

[3/8"-16 Male] I waited 2 months for my back ordered tripod to be delivered. No one was able to give any estimates on when it would be available. I waited because I believe this is the right tripod for my needs and indeed it is.
Tall enough without needing a center column. Strong and stable platform for my medium format film cameras and Fujifilm GFX medium format camera.
The hand strap is great idea to hold and pull down while taking a photo to give it more stability. I wished it came with leg protectors. Hate to scratch the beautiful carbon fiber legs.

[3.9 lb] This is my first real tripod and I'm quite proud to own it. The build quality is exceptional. It looks very heavy but it's not. I carry this tripod with me all over the world. It packs into a rollerboard suitcase, not a 20 but a 26. I sometimes wish I had the Versa version, but this tripod packs tighter than the Versa and RRS makes a screw-on leveling base which is an excellent addition.

[Carbon Fiber] Product arrived in Canada without a hitch. Fast delivery and no issues. Product is as advertised, not much to say, it's RRS... it won't disappoint! Buy with confidence, happy with transaction from start to finish.

[4] This is a superb tripod. I use it for travel (pack in a suitcase) and for hiking. It is rock solid. No center post means you can get it very low. The overall diameter of the Ultra is narrower than the Versa model so it just packs smaller. Very quick and easy action to open and close the legs. There is webbing affixed to the underside from which you can attach weight, such as a pack. The rounded rubber feet can be swapped out for spike feet or claw feet (which fit virtually all the more recent (last 10+ years) RRS tripods. Highly recommended.

[3/8"-16 Male] What a wonderfully machined tripod. I use it with confidence on all surfaces, in streams; muddy ground, slick rock. It does what it's supposed to do. I am mystified why RRR doesn't include a center pole and a set of ice feet. I have less expensive tripods that came with those things, included with the price. I waffled between 4 and 5 stars because of that. But it is well made.

[3 Positions] I believe bird photographers love their cameras and tolerate their tripods. Really Right Stuff tripods may change that belief. I have had Gitzo, Induro and Sirui tripods and those while good or better do not compare to Really Right Stuff.
I use this in the field with Canon great whites so appreciate the security of this tripod

[4] I have owned a lot of tripods over the years. All major name brands and some off brand, too. I came back to RRS for three reasons - quality, reliability, and stability. After my last tripod bit the dust due to sand and the one before that had a broken leg lock at the worst possible time, I realized there was only one I could actually trust in all conditions - RRS. This tripod is a thing of beauty, the craftsmanship and attention to detail is second to none. The compatibility within the RRS ecosystem is excellent, everything just works. Thats what you want when placing a high value body and lens combo on top of a tripod. Everything to work, reliably. Yeah it’s a lot of money, but it’ll last you a lifetime of shooting if you take care of it.

As a side note, I was torn between this model and the TFC24L Mii. Get this one, the weight difference is negligible and the stability and added support is worth the few extra bucks. I use this with a Z8, Z 2.8 trinity, and the Z 180-600. Absolutely rock solid, zero vibrations and above all - it just works.
