A: Yes, but the flange is a little shallow so you have to make sure to seat the flash carefully and then use the locking lever or it can pop out of this cold shoe. I had a 600EX-RT hit the floor after falling off a lightstand, so I know from bitter experience. The weather proofing around the 600EX hotshoe makes it hard to insert into many conventional cold shoes in my experience. I moved to RRS FA-QRCS2 cold shoes that fit the 600EX like a glove, but they're expensive and B&H doesn't carry them (yet)

A: A 2mm hex key is required. This assumes you will be able to remove the (completely unncessary) M4*6 set screws in the side mounting holes. I called Sachtler's US branch and was told those screws are Blue Loctited in. Why Sachtler would do this for screws that need to come out is a mystery. Despite my best efforts using heat, tapping, and lots of torque, I couldn't get those screws to budge. Unforutnately I stripped the heads and had to drill out the screws and tap new threads. Caveat emptor.
