Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can it be safely used on its side?

A: Generally it is not recommended to use the CyberPower AVR Series CP900AVR UPS this way.

Q: 2. Are the batteries hot swapable?

A: Hello, This unit is not hot-swappable. However, the battery is user replaceable. Thank you for your question.

Q: 3. Does this allow remote monitoring/email alerts?

A: Hello David, Yes this unit will support remote monitoring/email alerts with the addition of the optional RMCARD205.

Q: 4. What is the battery life after power is disconnected?

A: There is no simple answer to that question, as it depends on what the load is. It could be 30 minutes or it could be 5 minutes. A small, low power computer with the monitor not on battery might last 30-40 minutes, where a PC with a large power supply, high power video card, 4 hard drives, and three 27 monitors all connected to battery will go pretty fast. If you know the actual power requirements of your connected gear, you can approximate with your own math. If unsure, get a bigger unit.

Q: 5. Can I plug in a power conditioner to this (Furman SS-6B Power Strip) or would that be redundant, or cause a problem? I’m in residential with power issues that are causing odd hums in audio recordings, and the electrician says a UPC is the way to go, but the studio engineer says a power conditioner is necessary.

A: I'm an electrician and concur with the other answers, you need to look into grounding issues, specifically what's called a "ground loop". As for the UPS, it won't fix this issue, it fixes voltage and power factor issues as well as backup power of course, but it won't hurt anything either. They do make "ground loop isolators" that may do the trick, but sometimes won't help either.

Q: 6. Hi, is this unit noisy?

A: No, the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS, would not be noisy at all when in use.

Q: 7. If my PC has a 1200 watt Power supply will this be strong enough at 900 watts? Is this a pass through design?

A: The 900 watt rating is how many watts it will deliver when on battery. It's rated at 1500 watts pass-through when on line power. Even though your computer has a 1200 watt power supply, it more than likely never pulls that much. Most modern computers only draw 100-200 watts when idle or doing light tasks like email/web browsing. If you have 2-3 high-end power hungry video cards, are doing rendering or video processing, with a pile of hard drives, you could start getting up to the 900 watt limit. Buy a kill-a-watt and measure for sure. Also note that at 100% utilization on battery (drawing 900 watts) the run time is very short; maybe a minute or two. My workstation has an 850 watt power supply, a single GeForce 960 video card, i7-6700k, 16gb ram, 4 hdds and an ssd. With the router, a switch, and 2 monitors, I draw 350 watts when playing games & working on video encoding. I get approx. 15 minutes runtime. Idle it uses 75-100 watts, and a 30 min run time.

Q: 8. Can B&H supply a 220v version of this or something comparable? If so, kindly send a link. Thanks.

A: Unfortunately, we do not have a 220v UPS.

Q: 9. maximum input it can take when power surge occur?

A: The Joule rating for this unit is 1080j.a href= https://www.cyberpowersystems.com/product/ups/cp1000avrlcd/ target= _blank https://www.cyberpowersystems.com/product/ups/cp1000avrlcd//a

Q: 10. Can this be used to power strobes as it's a pure sine wave?

A: Yes. As long as your flash head is no more than 720 Watt second. I have tested this UPS with my Profoto Acute2R 2400 power pack with one Profoto Acute/D4 Head. The power pack must be set to the minimum setting of 1/4 power output. Otherwise, the UPS will shut down. Be gentle transporting the UPS to photoshoot locations and ensure the vents near the bottom side panels have proper clearance.

[3] These batteries are pretty easy to replace from the front of the UPS. Just a few screws and the battery slides out, and the new one slide right in. In my experience these batteries last for around 18 months before needing to be replaced.

[ (84 VaH)] Popped in the replacement battery for my CyberPower 750VA AVR and the unit was functional again. The UPS wouldn't stay on with the old battery so it was time for replacement.

[Lead-Acid] Lost backup to phone and internet. Searched for a replacement, and found this at B&H. Specs were exactly the same, which was great for the age of my backup system. Previously, I ordered another replacement brand from another online company and it only lasted a couple of years. The original Cyber Power lasted for 7 years. As I have purchased photo gear from B&H in the past, ordering this was a no brainer. Received it in very good time, installed it, and we're now back in business. Thanks B&H!!
