Drummers looking to take their electronic drums to new heights will love the quality, functionality, and usability of the Yamaha DTX-PRO Drum Module. The unit includes many technological advancements to generate creativity and provide freedom for your playing style and sound, including the Kit Modifier function, which allows you to create your own unique sound by dialing in the ambience, compression, and effects. Alter the tone and ambience of sounds sampled in some of the most respected studios in the world.

By undertaking exhaustive investigations into how drums respond when hit, Yamaha has leveraged this information to achieve a truly faithful representation of instrument behavior. The DTX-PRO covers the full range of sound, from the initial attack to the final cutoff, all based on authentic sounds tuned by a skilled sound director. Additionally, professional drummers from around the world evaluated the performance of the DTX-PRO, allowing Yamaha to improve the expressive capabilities for even better performance.

The DTX-PRO features a variety of connections for a broad selection of applications. Use USB to send and receive MIDI and audio data. You can send sound directly from the DTX to DAW software or a smart device. A standard DIN MIDI connector allows you to send MIDI signals to any MIDI device, such as a hardware sequencer. Up to 14 triggers or pads can be connected to the trigger input terminals making it simple to create a hybrid setup with electronic pads and acoustic drums.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work with Pentax cameras?

A: it should but i don't have pentax camera

Q: 2. Does this item works with the cable of the hahnel shutter release for Phase One XF camera?

A: Unfortunately, B&H does not carry the Phase One XF Digital Camera, and I do not see a shutter release cable designed by Hahnel for use with the Phase One XF Digital camera. I cannot confirm if the hahnel Captur Pro Module would be compatible for use with the Phase One XF Digital camera.

Q: 3. I understand the IR beam transmitter can be set to a high or low setting. Does the transmitter go into a low power stand-by mode when not being activated? For example, if this was set up over-night would the battery quickly drain? Thanks!James B.

A: I would recommend not keeping the device on while it is not in use.

Q: 4. Will it work with the Pentax K-1?

A: No, it will not work with the Pentax K-1. The system is compatible for use with Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Olympus/Panasonic cameras.

Q: 5. How wide is the IR beam? If someone could tell me how many degrees wide it is or just a good guess that would be great. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!James B.Thanks!

A: The beam width from the transmitter varies depending on the power setting and the distance to the receiver. For example, if the distance to the receiver is about 20 feet and the transmitter power is at high, the angle of width is about 30 degrees. Closer it is wider. On the low setting, it is about 10 degrees or less. Aiming it is not an issue. As for breaking the beam, it is a very narrow zone like less than 1 degree in each direction. Basically, the subject has to break line of sight between the transmitter and receiver.

Q: 6. For sound triggering, can you adjust the sensitivity of this device? Also, can you set it to delay the shutter release after it detects the sound? If so, for how long and what increments? Thanks.

A: I have only used the Captur Pro once while target shooting so far but I intend to do so more often. I had some confusion about the sensitivity but that was more not reading the directions carefully first. The lower the number the less sensitive the unit will be and I needed to make sensitivity number very low to react only to the sound of discharge and not wind noise (it happened to be a very windy day and it took a while to get the right setting to compensate for wind moving over the unit). I don't remember exactly the delay setting I used but it was around one or two milliseconds. You will have to play with the timing. The movement of the slide mechanism is very fast but I was able to capture images of spent cartridges being discharged from the pistol. As a side note I also use the unit as a remote for my Canon 60D. The button between the Lock and the Start/Stop buttons is the remote trigger. Hold halfway and it focuses, press all the way down and activates the shutter. Also, as a bonus it works with my old Canon 20D. You have to order the cords separately but they are not very expensive. The other option is to order the remote controllers but I decided not to do that just yet. Hope this helps.

Q: 7. can the Captur Pro be connected by cable directly to Nikon D810 with no other equipment required to capture sound?

A: yes this can be hooked up to a camera directly through the correct cable. the sound triggering will work through the captur pro module.

Q: 8. Are the line outputs balanced or unbalanced?

A: The Yamaha DTX6KK3-X 9-Piece Electronic Drum Kit with DTX-PRO Sound Module has 2 unbalanced 1/4" / 6. 35 mm outputs.

Q: 9. Does it work with Fuji film x t2 camera? Thanks.

A: along with the hl capcord F this will work with the XT2

Q: 10. If this works on a hot shoe, would it work for older film SLRs?

A: The hotshoe is only for mounting the trigger on the Camera and there is no Data transfer there. Film Cameras used a Cable Release to trigger the shutter. So, I do not think the Hahnel Trigger would work.

[3.3 lb / 1.5 kg] Before buying the kd7 I bought the pintech ergokik and the kat percussion kick trigger. Both broke within a month. Not only has the kd7 lasted longer than both of those, the build quality is much better, and the triggering is much smoother and consistent. Don't waste time with the others. The Roland is a bit more money but definitely worth the extra expense.

[3.3 lb / 1.5 kg] The PCY175 is so much more responsive than the PCY135 in many ways. IT reacts and sounds more like a 20 brass cymbal by either Zildjian, Paiste depending on how you have the sound parameters set up on your module. I have the DTX-Pro module and love it!

[3.3 lb / 1.5 kg] I'm using these to control my microphone input gates. I originally tried another name brand that has XLR outputs since I'm sending the signal to my audio console (the very thing most people complain about those, is the very reason I wanted them). They where also made of metal and mounted so close to the drum shell, I felt the need to wrap them with tape. They interfered with the mounting system of my rack tom, and 2 of 4 of them failed within a couple uses (the solder joint on the piezo pickup broke off). Okay - I said all that to say - this little guy didn't have any of those issues. Mounts easy, low profile, been working reliably. I had to build a 1/4 to XLR adapter due to my use case, but that's proven to be worth it. I intend to buy more of these.

[3.3 lb / 1.5 kg] The only Roland trigger pad that was developed in the early 90's and still being sold today - and for good reason. The rock solid design, the impeccable tracking, and feel just can't be beat - even 20 years later. Leave it to B&H to sell it at price point others can't even touch.

[3.3 lb / 1.5 kg] I've used an S&S Industries kick trigger with my DW5000 since 1996. The KD-7 was very easy to attach to my DW Pedal, plays just like my S&S, has wonderful sensitivity and sounds great with my TD-5 brain.

[3.3 lb / 1.5 kg] you're not going to win any style points by using this, and if you're in a room above someone (apartment complex, etc), the down-firing beater transmits directly into the floor, so you may want to avoid this. Beyond that, however, it works perfectly fine, and doesn't take up much space. This is my second KD7, the first of which stopped responding to soft hits after about 3 years of abuse (5+ days a week, 2-4 hours a day, on average). I imagine I could've gotten away cheaper w/ a piezo replacement, but I figured I'd order a new one and try to fix the old one eventually. Anyhow... works great.
