Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, the SFP+ ports are described as uplink. Are they limited to communication with the upstream switch or can they be used like "regular" ports i.e. to connect a 10GB NAS such as BH #QNTSH977XU32 ?

A: You could potentially use the SFP+ ports for other uses but the uplink port would be for an upstream switch or to the router.

Q: 2. Does it work with OC200 Omada controller?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG2008P JetStream 8-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch (BH #TPTLSG2008P) will work with the OC200 Omada controller.

Q: 3. Can I run normal CAT5/6 cable from one of the SFP ports to another router/switch's RJ45 port?

A: An Ethernet cable cannot be inserted directly into an SFP fiber port. You would require an adapter such as BH #TPTLSM5310T to facilitate that connection.

Q: 4. Am I able to connect two of these together to add additional pots?

A: The Netgear GS316P 16-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Unmanaged Switch (B&H # NEGS316P100N) can be daisy-chained to an another switch.

Q: 5. Does it support RADIUS?

A: Yes, the TP-Link TL-SG2008P JetStream 8-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch, B&H # TPTLSG2008P, supports RADIUS.

Q: 6. TP-Link has different hardware versions for the same model. Can you confirm if this one is V1, V2, or V2.6?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG105PE 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Unmanaged Switch (BH #TPTLSG105PE • MFR #TL-SG105PE) is currently version 2.6.

Q: 7. Is the cloud or hardware controller a must? Or it can be configured via web Ui and/or app?

A: The TP-Link Jetstream TL-SG2210MP 10-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed Switch with SFP BH #TPTLSG2, can be configured through a hardware controller or through the Omada App.

Q: 8. Can this switch be adopted/managed in Omada?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG2210P 8-Port Gigabit PoE Smart Switch with 2 SFP Slots is compatible with Omada control. See: https://www.tp-link.com/us/omada_compatibility_list/

Q: 9. Will this work with Windows Server 2003 OS?

A: Yes.

Q: 10. It says it comes with a rack mount kit. What are the dimensions of the rack mount kit?

A: TP-Link has not specified the dimensions of the rackmount kit included with the TP-Link JetStream TL-SG3428MP 24-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch with SFP. However, the included rack mount kit was designed to be compatible with standard rack mounting configurations.

[126 W] I'm adding PoE IP cameras from the soffits of my garage and needed an easy way to power 4 of them without having to pull 4 cables up through a hard to pull chase way. Added this in the attic where there's a single outlet and - instantly all 4 cameras have power. Space is non-insulated so this has performed fine at -20F outside so far - will see how it does in the summer heat - but so far very happy with the performance and the price point.
Connects to a 5 port TP-Link Omada switch inside that tags all traffic with the video camera VLAN and works great!

[Yes 1 RU] The size of this device is really small. So it fit great into my IP65 enclosure. I used it to interface four POE GiGe cameras to my fanless PC.

[126 W] Upgrading my home server and associated network this week. Had an old 16 port 10/100 rack-mount switch in the server cabinet which had a few bad ports and was about 10 years old. This 1U rack-able Gigabit switch was a perfect replacement and upgrade. Hope to get another 10+ years out of this one.

[Internal] I wanted to set up some surveillance cameras that required PoE, and this switch required little technical knowledge and worked right away!

[1.5 Mb] My existing switch was becoming a bottleneck as we had more devices supporting Gb ethernet and starting to transfer large files. We pulled that out of our rack and dropped this one in and had nice fast transfers in a matter of minutes. Ou building cable plant was Cat5 but it still managed to get Gb speeds between network segments. Sometime we'll start adding some IP phones so I opted for the slightly more expensive PoE model as a future-proofing method, but haven't really tested that out.
