Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I just wanted to ask about the new once piece focus ring on the new model? I am a little worried about it as the last model had a course and fine focus and I wanted this primarily for target shooting. Is the new swarovski type focus ring just as good as the old fine focus or should I look for another brand of scope? Thanks.

A: I have both and prefer the new focus ring. Smooth as silk and stays put once in focus. It also is much faster than the old style to focus. The optics are a tad bit better on the new one as well

Q: 2. For bird watching I saw this scope in Costa Rica. Really liked it. Is this one the one to get? Or any other recommendations?

A: Vortex Viper HD 20-60x85 Spotting Scope (Angled Viewing) BH #VO2060X85A • MFR #V502 one of B&H most highly rated scopes. In a 20-60X85 there would be nothing better

Q: 3. Is there an attachment that allows a camera to be attached to the spotting scope? Something that would allow a Sony "e" mount camera to be attached to this scope?

A: Yes, you will need (2) items. The Novagrade T-Mount Digiscoping Adapter BH #NOUA00T101 • MFR #UA-00T1-01 to attach over the eyepiece and the Vello T-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Adapter BH #VELANEXT • MFR #LA-NEX-T to attach to the Sony camera body. Those (2) pieces will now screw together.

Q: 4. How does the GEN II model differ from the Fury HD GEN I model?

A: The original Vortex 10x42 Fury HD Laser Rangefinder Binocular had a Laser Rangefinder range of 1,600 feet. Generation II has a range of 5,000 feet.

Q: 5. Can I attach my IPhone to the scope for digital viewing

A: The Vortex Viper HD 20-60x85 Spotting Scope (Straight Viewing), BH # VO2060X85S, will work with the Opticron USM-2 Universal Smartphone Mount for Digiscoping (BH # OPUSM2USM).

Q: 6. does the Vortex Razor Hd 27-60x85 spotting scope come with a protective case?

A: Yes and it works great because it always stays on the scope, it has Velcro so you can pull it back while your using it and it has a zipper on the objective lens end of the protective case. The case also works when its on the tripod

Q: 7. What do I need to attach my Fuji XT-5 to this please ?

A: You will need the Novagrade T-Mount Digiscoping Adapter BH #NOUA00T101 • MFR #UA-00T1-01 to position over the eyepiece and the FotodioX Lens Mount Adapter for T-Mount T/T-2 Screw Mount SLR Lens to Fujifilm Fuji X-Series Mirrorless Camera Body BH #FOT2FXRF • MFR #T2-FXRF to attach to your camera body. Those (2) pieces will now screw together.

[1 x CR2032] Awesome scope, clarity is amazing for the price. Switched from Leaupold Venta, definitely superior glass on the vortex

[Picatinny] I had considered getting a telescope but wanted something that could use terrestrially and for digiscoping. A telescope might work but it would be too cumbersome and not as useful. I git the Vortex Razor HD so I could watch wildlife and be able to use it at night to look at the moon and planets. The sun's been setting too late at night lately for the latter but that'll change as the year wears on.

The optics are superb! The image is crystal clear even at long - in excess of 1/3 mile - and makes reading even small print possible. I was able to read a license plate in excess of a quarter mile. Not just the number but the state name as well. The only issue I had at that distance was atmospheric interference and that isn't the problem with the scope.

The neoprene cover that came with the scope is pretty useless to me. It wouldn't do much except protect the scope from possible dings and scratches. It has no handle so it doesn't provide much other functionality. I might think about a soft carrying case instead.

The controls all work smoothly and don't drift unexpectedly. The biggest issue I had was having the eyepiece out and turning it in with my eye still on it. I'm missing several eyebrow hairs from doing that.

I'm getting used to finding the subject at the 27x zoom then zooming in. The 60x zoom is significant! I'm still playing with the Celestron Star Finder scope I bought. It doesn't really fit this spotting scope but I fix it to to that. I now have a red dot scope to find a subject.

I'm looking forward to getting this scope out more and, using the t-mount and micro four thirds adapter for my camera, to shoot wildlife.

This has changed my viewing habits!

[Aluminum] I am very satisfied with this scope. Has good eye relief and I like that it assist me with my astigmatism and that it has an etched reticle so I can see the BDC markings even if my battery dies.

[Aluminum] I got tired of the heavy LPVO and having the crank the magnification throw lever around the eye relief is as good as a high end LPVO when at high magnification I’m older so I need magnification at further distance and paired with a Venom 3 MOA man what a awsome combo I found a old Scalaroworks mount I had laying around I installed the mount facing backwards to get a bit more eye relief. Good glass quality is high high as heavy as Eotech and lighter than LPVO and Acog.

[Red] After researching and trying several spotting scopes, we finally uograded to the Vortex Razor. We are very happy with the crisp images! The angled eyepiece is helpful for minimal adjustments to accomodate our different heights when viewing birds.

[5x] I bought a pair of viper vinos about 6 years ago and from the day of purchase I have longed to get a razor spotter! Well the day finally came about 4 months ago! I am blown away by this amazing instrument! The clarity is off the charts! I have used other high end brands like sworovski, Leopold, night force, and Leica and I have to say that for the price you can not beat vortex! Especially when it comes to the warranty! You have a life long customer in me from binos to spotters to rifle scopes and range finders! I will not but anything else!

[0 to 69 mm] I've used a Celestron Regal M2 80ED as my birding scope for several years. It was a good scope, and performed quite well at the lower end of the magnification range and under bright viewing conditions. I've had opportunities to use high-end scopes during some birding tours, and while some were impressive (Swarovski in particular), I was reluctant to spend that kind of money. I recently purchased a pair of Vortex Razor binoculars, and I've been really pleased with them. After reading tons of reviews of this scope, I decided to purchase it and I've been very happy that I did. In a side-by-side comparison with the Celestron, this scope is obviously brighter (which would be expected at 85mm vs 80mm), but it's the performance at 60X magnification that has really pleased me. I never felt like I could get the Celestron in really sharp focus at 60X, but that's not a problem with this Vortex Razor. I took it to a local turfgrass farm after a recent rainstorm to look for late shorebird migrants, and was able to get extremely clear views of birds hundreds of yards off the road in suboptimal light. Vortex also has the best warranty in the business. I strongly recommend this scope.
