The clamp easily locks down by switching the MonoballFix mechanism. The head works on arc movements that keep your camera centered over your tripod, so you never lose your center of axis. The clamp locks via its MonoballFix mechanism.

The head works on arc movements that keep your camera centered over your tripod, so you never lose your center of axis.

The X and Y axes each have +/-10° of micrometric adjustment, which is controlled by two geared knobs that are self-locking.

The geared knobs telescope out, so you can reach them when using larger cameras.

There is a 360° pan on the top and the bottom base of the head. The top pan has a scale for a repeated setup or for measuring turning intervals when creating a panoramic shot.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the Arca part of the clamps be rotated 90 degrees so the Arca grooves are in line with the bracket instead of at right angle to it?

A: Unfortunately, the Arca dovetail portion of the Arca Swiss L-Bracket MonoballFix Universal cannot be rotated 90°.

Q: 2. can this be installed directly on arca-swiss monoball p0 ballhead? is this compatible with universal arca-swiss standard plates?

A: Yes, you may use the Arca-Swiss MonoballFix Quickset Device listed above on the top of the Arca-Swiss Monoball P0 with Panning System, B&H # ARMPOPS. It is compatible for use with standard Arca-Swiss quick-release plates.

Q: 3. Can someone clarify the two different answers below - can the dovetails be rotated on each baseplate, to switch whether the Classic or the monoballFix dovetail is the one in line with the lens axis? When I look at the additional baseplate that can be purchased separately, it seems to have the dovetails mounted in the other direction, suggesting they can be changed...

A: Hello Jonathan, Yes I confirm the dovetails can be rotated on each base plate to switch whether the Classic or monoballFix. When the plate is mounted with the narrow width parallel to the optical axis, then you can mount it on monoballFix® quik-release. When the plate is mounted with the larger width parallel to the optical axis then you can mount it on an Classic quick-release. This system is called "Dual Base". Now this L-Bracket has not been designed to change or replace the rotable plates with others monoballFix® plate. However if you absolutely need to do it, that is possible (everything is possible at ARCA SWISS :-)) but I would like to alert you on 2 points which are obvious for us but may not be clear for all the people. 1- If you replace the rotable plates/dovetail by monoballFix® plate, the you will have to choose only the ones with the grooves on their top so they will perfectely fit with the L-Bracket bases (horizontal and vertical). The compatible references are 802284, 802283, 802280, 802281, 802282 that you can find on B&H website. 2- Then you will not be able to use the screws neither the one of your L-Bracket dovetail plate (it may be too long depending on your camera base mouth depth) nor the one delivered with the additional plate (it may be too short). In that case we can provide a custom solution with specific screws but it that case we need to make a prior analysis and eventually a special order with B&H. Hope it answer your question and if you need more support, please just ask. Jean-Pierre from ARCA-SWISS

Q: 4. Will this quickset plate fit the Arca Swiss Z1 ball head 801103?

A: Yes. But please keep in mind that the following adapts to smaller QR plates such as the following plates mentioned. 802255, 802260, 802262 and 802265.

Q: 5. Are the safety pin removable?

A: The pins are not removable by any normal means.

Q: 6. Does this fit the Hasselblad X2D?

A: Yes, the Arca-Swiss L-Bracket MonoballFix Universal is compatible with the Hasselblad X2D.

Q: 7. Does this work with the Smallrig L bracket?

A: Yes this will work with the Smallrig L bracket as it is the Arca Swiss type.

Q: 8. What is the maximum width for plates that can be held in this device?

A: The plate must fit the dovetail slot in this Quickset Device. I've found that the Quickset lever won't lock unless I had a camera plate that fit into the dovetail slot properly. I use an Arca Swiss 802260 Monoball Fix 32 Camera plate (the B&H # on my order was ARSF32C) with the Quickset Device - there are other Arca Swiss Monoball Fix 32 plates available as well. I've measured the 802260's camera plates dovetail with calipers and at the 'neck' of the dovetail, its 19.07mm and at the base of the dovetail 25.85mm The height of the dovetail from bottom of the dovetail base to the bottom of the camera plate is 5.45mm. When the Quickset Device has nothing in the dovetail slot and the lever is in the closed/latched position, the opening is 23.04mm (this measurement is at the location where the camera plate's dovetail neck would fit. When I push the lever as far open as possible, the opening is 25.12mm wide -- but the lever won't close if you fit something this big into the Quickset Device.

Q: 9. Will it fit Peak Design PROplate?https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1096749-REG/peak_design_pl_pp_1_proplate_a_for_manfrotto.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1096749-REG/peak_design_pl_pp_1_proplate_a_for_manfrotto.html/a

A: Yes the Peak Design PROplate is Arca-swiss compatible with this clamp, as well as Manfrotto RC2 compatible.

Q: 10. Does this take genral Arca-Swiss compatible plates?

A: The Arca-Swiss MonoballFix Quickset Device does not use standard Arca-Swiss plates. You need smaller than normal, MonoballFix camera plates like the Arca-Swiss monoballFix Cameraplate 48 Universal. Here is the link: https://bhpho.to/3vqjTqa

[1.145 lb] If you don't have any classic Arca Swiss gear and are looking for a minimalistic camera plate, give the MonoballFix system a try. The baseplates are small and the head clamps are very solid and nice to work with.

[Bull's-Eye] No choice! You have to get this if you buy a D4 MONOBALLFIX - GEARED. Im not happy about that, but whatcha gonna do?!?! Too expensive, but it is well made.

[1.145 lb] This is an absolute requirement in order to attach either a camera or lens to the superior margin of the Arca-Swiss Monoball X-Table System. The Cameraplate 75 for MonoballFix screws into the connecting points of either a camera or lens supporting ring and in turn connects to what appears to be an Arca-Swiss Monoball Fix Quickset Device attached to the upper surface of the X-Table System. The attachment of camera and/or lens appears to be secure and stable.

[14.8 oz / 420 g] I purchased this item to mount directly on top of my gitzo monopod. Which allows me to switch my to camera bodies between the tripod and monopod with out having to remove the plate. Works perfectly!!!

[Bull's-Eye] Light weight, well made and works well. It is pricey.

[44 lb / 20 kg] I must admit, I tried to get other plates for my P0, which has the slidefix QS quick release, to save some money. The cost savings resulted in plates that didn't properly fit and wasted time. These however, do the job they're intended for. Save the headache and just get them for your P0 with the quick release.

[360°] Since acquiring an Arca Field Metric C, I’ve been converting all my RRS and Arca-compatible mounts to the Arca MonoballFix mount. I really love it, except for the somewhat ungainly and awkward name. The quick release on the narrower mounts is so nice; so much better than the QR lever on the classic Arca clamps. For my Sony A7Cr, this fits perfectly. The switch on the bottom that permits sliding adjustment and removal of the side bracket works perfectly and affords very easy access to the SD card slot. Not cheap, but superbly made. That this works with either the classic Arca clamp or the Monoball Fix is a real bonus when traveling with something small and light like the Peak Designs Travel Tripod. I’ll either get another for my M11 or the smaller bracket that only fits the Monoball Fix clamp.

[Bull's-Eye] Without the Arca-Swiss Monoball Fix Quickset Device I could not have attached an Arca-Swiss Monoball X-Table System to either of my tripods. The removable plates located on the camera attachment portions of my tripods (a Manfrotto head on a Bogen tripod or similar attachment plate of a MeFOTO tripod system) screw into the inferior surface of the Quickset Device thus allowing its attachment to the tripod. The lower rail of the Arca-Swiss Monoball X-Table System then slides into the superior surface of the Quickset Device resulting in attachment of the X-Table system to the tripod. It is important to be aware that the inferior rail of the X-Table system has no accommodation for a screw attachment to a tripod and furthermore is too narrow and has an incomparable configuration for directly attaching to either of my tripod heads. Thereafter one must use an Arca-Swiss Cameraplate 75 for MonoballFix in order to attach a camera to the upper portion of the X-Table system by use of what appears to be a second Arca-Swiss Monoball Fix Quickset Device which is included with the Arca-Swiss Monoball X-Table System and attached to its superior surface.

[360°] Because the lens is set a little to the left of center (as seen from the back) this plate still allows the battery/SD card compartment to open fully without having to detach the QR plate. Sweet!
Love the Arca-swiss quick release system!
