The Sirui ST125 Carbon Fiber Tripod 5-Sectionfrom Sirui ST125 Carbon Fiber Tripod 5-Sectionwas designed with the idea of taking mirrorless and compact DSLRs on location in mind. The unusual triangular center column reduces the diameter of the leg set to less than 3" but still supports a maximum height of 59.1" and a load capacity of 26.5 pounds. The column is removable and reversible for shooting from a floor-level perspective and also features a ballast hook for added stability.

Like the center column, the legs are made of 8x layer carbon fiber for lightweight strength and durability. The legs feature waterproof twist-lock joints to seal the legs against water, dust, and debris when working in the field. The rubber feet provide traction and incorporate retractable foot spikes for ice or other slick surfaces. Independent leg spread and locking leg positions allow the ST125 to be leveled on uneven terrain. The leg spider features dual 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded accessory mounts for mounting accessory arms for accessories like monitors, microphones, LED lights, and more.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are the retractable feet on this removable if I should want to put standard feet on this instead?

A: The legs on the Sirui ST124 Standard Series 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod can be removed but they are not interchangeable with other tripods.

Q: 2. What is the diameter of the various legs, compared to the P-424FL?

A: The diameter of each leg of the Sirui P-325FL 5-Section Carbon Fiber Monopod, from largest to smallest, is 32mm, 28mm, 25mm, 22mm, and 19mm.

Q: 3. What is the minimum height of the monopod without the base? Can it fit in a 22in carry without the base attached?

A: The minimum height of the Sirui P-424FL 4-Section Carbon Fiber Monopod, without the base, is 24.01". Even if it is placed diagonally, it still may not fit inside a 22" carry-on.

Q: 4. How much does it weigh?

A: The Sirui AR3204 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod weighs 4.41 lbs / 2.0 kg.

Q: 5. What is the minimum height of the monopod without the base? Can it fit in a 22in carry without the base attached?

A: Without the base, it's 21.2''. So you should be able to fit into a 22'' carry case.

Q: 6. When the feet are folded upwards, do they lock in that position or otherwise stay up?

A: There is a lock on the Sirui P-325FL 5-Section Carbon Fiber Monopod that secures them downward. When they are lifted upward, there is no lock, but there is enough friction that they stay upward easily.

Q: 7. Is the mounting screw a standard size to that I can mount my RRS BH-55 ballhead onto it?

A: Yes, the Sirui ST124 Standard Series 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod has the standard 3/8"-16 male threading that will mount the Really Right Stuff BH-55 Ball Head.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with Sirui VH-10 Fluid Video Head?

A: Yes, the Sirui VH-10 Fluid Video Head can be mounted to the Sirui AR3204 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod.

Q: 9. I see that this tripod is marketed as a "born for mirrorless" tripod, but, with a sturdy enough ball head, say the K-30 or K-20, would this be suitable for a full frame DSLR? I shoot a Nikon d750 and my heaviest lenses include a tokina 24-70 2.8 as well as a Nikon 70-300.

A: Yes with a strong enough head Sirui ST124 Standard Series 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod will hold the D750 and those lenses well.

Q: 10. Is this the same exact tripod that comes in the ST125 + K10x kit?

A: Yes it is the same tripod that is sold in a kit with the K10x head.

[3/8"-16 Male] Far preferred for my use would have been a longer three section tripod, if only to avoid a last thin leg section and three leg locks for each leg and the pursuit of rigidity. So far, that last section has not been a problem on stability but there is one heavy lens/body combo that I have not tested yet. The extra length would not be a travel problem because the tripod ends up in checked luggage anyway.

Aside from that subjective preference there is nothing about this tripod that I consider a detriment. Excellent attention to details, craftsmanship, material selection and design. I love the bowl base for quick leveling, handy for panoramas which is my primary pursuit. I use three different bowl mounts with the tripod head pre-assembled for each application. Easy to swap out that assembly instead of fidgeting with the short mounting screw base and bulky, awkward heads. The only sacrifice is upside down mounting for macro, but there are other solutions for that.

I've owned a lot of tripods from many different manufacturers. And I've lost lens and equipment to bad designs. But, I'm betting that the current crop will be referred to as Peak Tripods someday. This is very much one of them.

[Carbon Fiber] It was especially auspicious to purchase this waterproof tripod on sale from B&H and to receive a mail-in rebate from Sirui. I feel confident about using it on wet ground, in damp areas, or standing in a creek without worry of corrosion or mold growing within the tubes or between tube sections. The rubber feet are great for flat areas and there are retractable stainless steel spikes for use on softer ground - no need to remove the rubber feet and replace them each time with separate metal spikes - very handy.

[3/8"-16 Male] I did my research about its specs (size, weight, max load etc) and I'm very happy with my purchase. If I need to save more space when travelling the head is not difficult to remove, which is a big plus. Last, I hope I won't need it, but having 6 years of warranty adds to my peace of mind.

[Twist Lock] I like this tripod. It is perfect for traveling and even comes with a case. My L brackets work with this tripod without having to buy a heavy ball head. My other tripod was too short but this one extends to a good height for me. I have been looking for a good lightweight tripod for a long time and I think this one will fit the bill perfectly.

[2 Positions] While I haven't yet used this tripod, on first inspection, it is lightweight and sturdy. The legs unscrew easily and the ballhead has a level on it.
