The Schoeps BLCG Boundary Layer Mounting Plate is designed for directional boundary-layer recording with cardioid and supercardioid microphones. This unit can turn any directional microphone, such as a cardioid or supercardioid CCM compact microphone or MK capsule with active cable, into a boundary-layer (PZM) microphone. This setup is especially useful when recording moving singers or actors on a stage, or when a microphone on a stand would be obtrusive.

When a transducer is placed upon or within a large, sound-reflecting surface, its output voltage will be twice that of an equivalent transducer in a free sound field. A rubber ring built into the bottom of the plate prevents inadvertent rotation of the plate or marring of the surface on which it is placed.

Q: 1. Is this Mic muteable?

A: The DPA Microphones 4060 Omni Boundary Layer Mic does not have an onboard mute switch but you could use a separate mute switch such as the Rolls MM11 Pro Microphone Mute/Talk Switch (B&H # ROMM11PRO) or the Rolls MS111 Mic Switch - Latching or Momentary Microphone Mute Switch (B&H # ROMS111).

A: Yes, the Feisol CB40D will work with the Glide Gear LayLow Universal Camera Mounting Plate.

Q: 4. Will this work with the Ronin 2?

A: Not that we are aware of. However DJI offers the Universal Mount for Ronin 2, B&H # DJCPZM005801. DJI already offers a product for this function. https://bhpho.to/2Tv57vZ

Q: 5. can I use with a ball head ?

A: The Glide Gear LayLow Mounting Plate has mounting options for both the standard 1/4"-20 male tripod thread and the larger 3/8"-16 female tripod sockets used on the base of ball heads. As such, yes, you may connect a ball head to the Glide Gear LayLow Mounting Plate.

Q: 8. Will this mic work with my Sony PCM M10?

A: The PZM 30D requires phantom power 12 - 48v to operate. This unfortunately can not be provided by the PCM-M10 recorder and similar recorders that feature only a 1/8 input connection.

Q: 9. how it setup?

A: The Crown PZM10LL is designed to be surface mounted where only the top portion of the mic is visible. The PZM10LL ships unterminated with 3 bare wires. 2 for audio, and 1 for DC power that needs to be supplied for operation. The PZM10LL outputs a line level signal.

Q: 10. The unit weight is 11 pounds, but the package weighs 1.1 pounds. How is this possible? some mistake?????

A: This item weighs 1.1 lbs. I emailed the B&H webmaster to fix that.

[0.73 lb] I have personally worked with a pair of these mics and they are way cooler than the steel plate look. If you tape them to the lid of a grand piano, one up by the high strings and one down by the lows away from the player, close the lid, put the cover on and pan them, the sound you get with little to no bleed is crazy good. I've also heard of using them as drum rooms and kick outs. But seriously try the piano thing you will be amazed. 5

[0.73 lb] Usual superior quality from Sirui. It fit perfectly, even though it was bigger than the original - probably because my Sirui tripod is so old. But both the product and the B&H service were impeccable. 5

[4 x 4 x 0.5"] Better than expected for the money. It's well made and fits perfectly. I use it on a sirui for shooting a 15 lb rifle using a u mount. 5
