[Sony NP-FZ100] I have just received my new camera, generic battery and charger. Though I can't speak for it's length of service yet, it was a great alternative to the full price of an Olympus battery and gave me a nice, small charger as well. The new camera doesn't come with a charger. I have used generic extra batteries in the past and have found them to work about as well as the factory battery. 5

[Lithium-Ion] I don't like charging my batteries in camera. If you want to carry a spare charged battery with you while shooting with the battery in camera, you have to have a way to charge that spare. The Bescor battery charger does the job. You can be charging a spare while you're out shooting with your camera. 5

[Sony NP-FZ100] First, I don’t know why this item doesn’t show up as an accessory on the FX3 page of the B&H site. I had to do a Google search for the product and then follow a link to the B&H site. That said, I purchased this dummy battery and power source for my Sony FX-3. My initial need was for a setup to record a two hour stage play during which swapping out batteries would have caused a gap in footage. The dummy battery fits nicely into the camera battery slot. Something to keep in mind is that the camera door will not shut since door does not have a cutout/recess for the power cord. However, the quick release top and bottom plates allowed sufficient spacing to mount the cares on my tripod with the camera door open. Another important issue — which initially caused a bit of a controlled panic — is that during setup, I noticed that the battery charge indicator on the camera was going down—it never went below 96%. (I hadn’t noticed this during my at-home testing.) Apparently, the “charge” indicator will go below 100% based on a couple of factors such as extension cord length and power input need/regulation attenuated by the camera itself. Overall, the product does what it’s supposed to do, and I will be using on my next project — a short documentary. 5
