The X mount Meike 85mm T2.2 Cinema Lens X Mount Manual Focuscovers Super35/APS-C sensors and offers a minimum focus distance of 35". It's one of the longer focal length lenses of Meike's T2.2 cine lens line, and it features the same all-metal housing, smooth 270° focus rotation, and 77mm filter thread while being about the same in physical size and length. The wide T2.2 maximum aperture helps with low-light conditions and provides increased control over depth of field and bokeh, and multilayer coating is used to reduce flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy.

Both focus and aperture are manual with 0.8 MOD pitch, and the gears have similar positioning across the entire line, allowing you to efficiently swap this lens in for use with your follow focus. Front and rear lens caps, as well as a lens pouch, are included with the compact, lightweight, yet robust lens.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the lens length?

A: The Meike 85mm T2.2 Manual Focus Cinema Lens (E Mount), is a special order item that we unfortunately do not have direct access to. The manufacturer does not state the actual size, but based on other Meike lenses which we can test, the packaging takes up about 2-3" in length and the packaging length is 6", which would put this lens at approximately 3-4" in length.

Q: 2. Is there a set with a case option?

A: As of right now there is no case made specifically for this model lenses. However, the case for the pervious model will fit: BH #MEMKCINECASE

Q: 3. Is there a standardized outer diameter for clamp on matte box adapters?

A: No, the clamp on matte boxes tend to cover a wide range of lens diameters via the included thread adapters so there isn't really a standardized size. The Meike 85mm T2.2 Manual Focus Cinema Lens (MFT Mount) have 77mm filter thread which should make it compatible with most clamp on matte boxes.

Q: 4. will this lens work with z cam e2

A: Yes it wil. The Z CAM E2 Professional 4K Cinema Camera, BH #ZCE2, has an MFT Mount.

Q: 5. does this 25mm work with Canon C70?

A: Yes, the Meike 25mm T2.2 Manual Focus Cinema Prime Lens (Canon RF) is compatible with the Canon EOS C70 Cinema Camera (RF Mount).

Q: 6. Can the SmallRig Mini Follow Focus with the 0.8MOD/43T gear be used with this lens or is the 0.8/MOD38 gear required?

A: The Gear that comes with the Smallrig Mini follow focus will work with the Meike lens directly. You would not need to change the gear.

Q: 7. will meike update this to the cinema prime lens line?

A: At this moment Meike has not announced any plans to update/change the Meike 25mm T2.2 Manual Focus Cinema Prime Lens.

Q: 8. since fuji x-t4 is an APS-C camera, so this lens would be 37.5mm T1.46 lens on that camera ? am i right ?

A: The X-T4 does have a 1.5x Crop Factor, so this lens would be the equivalent of a 37.5mm lens. However crop factor is not going to change the aperture of the lens.

Q: 9. Do these lenses work good with the Z cam E2 M4?

A: Yes they work well with the Z Cam E2 M4

Q: 10. I use MFT cams these days, but I could shift to S35 or full frame in the near future. Wout it make sense to buy a Meike lense that's EF mount and use a adaptor, instead of going MFT mount? Since the lens will be used fully manual I don't really see what I'm losing by adapting a S35 or full frame lense to my MFT cam? Any input? Thanks!

A: Yes, if you would like to keep the option open for use with a super 35 or full frame sensor, as well as for use with a micro four thirds, it would be advisable to use full frame EF options, when available. However, not always are the same options available for both mounts. For a Meike lens in the 50mm range there are both EF and micro four thirds options available. Typically there would be no difference when used with a well made adapter such as the Metabones T Smart Adapter for Canon EF to Micro Four Thirds. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1182562-REG/metabones_mb_ef_m43_bt2_canon_ef_to_mft.html

[T2.2] Just came in today. I have to say it's not an ARRI Signature Prime. So, take this with a grain of salt. I say that many of you are like me, our budget is not in that league. For the price super sharp. The throw is nice and a real solid build. Amazing lens for the price and now I will be adding more to my bag.

[Super35/APS-C] I now have a 16mm, 25mm and a 35mm Meike lens. Great DoF. The gears turn very smoothly and don't have any play in them. The lens has a snug fit on my GH5S.

[85mm] For some years now I've been shooting with Rokinon glass and enjoying my lenses greatly. However, these lenses have been a little difficult to use on my JDI gimbal and with my edelkrone head-1 & follow focus. Without elaborating the details it occurred to me a smaller lighter set of lenses would be easier to work with. I found the Meike primes with the MFT mount. These have proved to be a great answer! They are decidedly smaller, lighter and in my opinion, sharper. The issues with the follow focus before are gone. They balance much easier on my gimbal, especially when swapping. They show little breathing when compared to my Rokinon glass. I have no idea how they would compare to the Zeiss compact primes, except to say they are about 1/10th the price of the Zeiss.

[T2.2] After Veydra shut down the market for relatively inexpensive MFT Cinema Primes got even smaller. Meike has stepped in to take over that niche. The Meike 50mm is a solid, well built lens that gives a lot of bang-for-the-buck. I use it with the Blackmagic 4K Pocket Cinema Camera and it works great. I plan on acquiring a full set of Meike Cinema lenses. Prime lenses are the building blocks of Cinema Grammar and any true filmmaker should aspire to own a set. Zooms are for children...

[T2.2] Rather than go with full frame, I've been shooting with the more economical APS-C lenses and they've been working out great. Be sure to adapt your settings on the Canon, as it is full manual. I have become a huge fan of cine lenses because they are built beautifully, with smooth focus and aperture rings. Super sharp, handles focus pull cleanly with no perceivable focus breathing. Love these Meike lenses! I'm buying them one at a time, as budget permits. And thankfully, they are at a very reasonable price given their high quality and special purpose. Not feeling any urge to go back to photography lenses these days, and certainly questioning whether to return to OEM Canon lenses, since these are 1/10th the price.

[T2.2] I first purchased a 12mm and purchased this one second. I'm more than happy with both lenses. Very cinematic feel and a nice weight in my hands. After shooting 2 weddings using this with my gh5 I'm happy.

Sensacional

[1.82 lb] Has a nice cold heavy feel in your hand, snaps on to the camera and really gets in there. I use this indoors to shoot art with zero distortion. Love it. It pairs wonderfully with my Z-CAM E2C, and makes for some great 4k footage

[Super35/APS-C] While I didn't order this lens from B&H, I wanted to leave my thoughts here regardless so that I can maybe help others.

At the time I'm writing this, it's been almost a year of having this lens, and I can honestly and objectively say, this is my favorite lens that I've used with my Blackmagic Pocket 4K. It's excellent.

Optically beautiful. While it has a more flat look than other cine lenses with more character, I don't have a lot of money to rent lenses for projects, so owning a lens that can behave like a chameleon is great. I can use this lens as a base, and then design the look of the project with lighting or post-production. Technically it's also great, with basically no focus breathing and low chromatic aberration (still present, but easy to correct).

Build quality is great. The only true competitor is Rokinon, which are plastic. This lens is built like a tank, with a metal housing, nice 77mm filter thread, and buttery-smooth focus and aperture gears. It's small and compact, which helps keep my rig minimal, but if I want to build it out with a matte box and follow focus, I can because of its standard cine-style design.

There's a couple quirks, but they're minimal. The lens caps are a bit odd. On the front cap, I would prefer a slip-on design like other cine lenses, but this has a squeeze/clip-on design similar to still lenses. The rear cap is strange too, it only attaches in one specific way. It's hard to explain, but I have to fiddle with it to get it to stay, which is inconvenient when I'm in a rush or in the dark.

Overall, this is an excellent lens, and I plan on getting a couple more in the lineup to complete my set. I have zero regrets purchasing this, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a budget-friendly choice that feels and performs better than Rokinon.

Sorry for the long review! I just had a lot to say. Bonus points if you read it all. Have a great day, everyone.
