Uniquely fast, the Sony E-mount 50mm f/1.05 Lens, from 7artisans, is a versatile normal-length prime characterized by its distinct and bright f/1.05 maximum aperture, along with an intuitive all-manual design. The speed of the lens suits working in low-light conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for isolating subject matter and using selective focus techniques. Complementing this is a pair of ultra-low dispersion elements, which control chromatic aberrations and color fringing in order to produce high clarity and color accuracy. The manual focus design of the lens permits working with subjects as close as 1.9' away and the manual aperture ring has also been de-clicked for silent adjustments that suit video applications. Also, this lens features a 13-blade diaphragm that contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Normal-length prime is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however it is also suitable for use with APS-C models where it provides a 75mm equivalent focal length.

Immensely fast f/1.05 maximum aperture benefits working with shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques, and also suits photographing in low-light conditions.

Two ultra-low dispersion elements reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve high clarity and accurate color rendering.

Manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 1.9'.

Depth of field and distance scales aid pre-focusing and zone focusing techniques.

De-clicked aperture ring promotes smooth and silent aperture switching to benefit video applications.

13-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does focus peaking work with this lens mounted on a Leica SL2 or SL2-S?

A: Focus peaking on the Leica SL2 and SL2-S is lens independent . So technically it will work with the 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm f/1.05 Lens for Leica L. It has not been tested with that specific lens but should work.

Q: 2. What would happen if you put this on a full frame sensor?

A: If the camera you are working with does not have a S35/APS-C mode the 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm T1.05 Vision Cine Lens (RF Mount, Feet/Meters) would provide an unusable image and view on a full frame camera.

Q: 3. Hello, canI use it in f/1.4 mode with an object at infinity? What will be the field of view in that case? Thanks

A: Yes. The 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm f/1.4 Tilt-Shift Lens (FUJIFILM X) can be used at infinity at any aperture including f1.4. The angle of view is about 33 degrees due to the crop on the Fuji camera.

Q: 4. Does this have any contacts for metadata?

A: The 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm T1.05 Vision Cine Lens (RF Mount, Feet/Meters) is not electronic in any manner. It does not have any contacts for metadata.

Q: 5. Hi there, what are the 6 screws for that come in a pouch with the lens?

A: The Screws are for focus assistance and would give you more of a grip to control the 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm in a more easy fashion giving you something to hold onto. Also the package does not include a pouch.

Q: 6. Does this lens have autofocus? Weather sealing?

A: This is a manual focusing lens. It is well made, and it can handle different weather conditions like rain & snow.

Q: 7. Does lens barrel include?

A: The 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm f/1.05 Lens for Sony E includes front and rear caps in the box and also includes a limited 1-year warranty with 7artisans.

Q: 8. Would these lenses work on a Super 35 sensor like BMPCC 6K?

A: The 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm T1.05 Vision Cine Lens is designed for super 35 cameras. The lens mounts that they will work with are specifically listed on the page:Canon RF, Fujifilm X, Leica L, MFT, and Sony E mounts. This lens will not work on the Canon EF Mount.

Q: 9. Does this have any contacts for metadata?

A: The 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm T2.0 Spectrum Prime Cine Lens (RF Mount) does not have electrical contacts.

Q: 10. is this works with sony fx3 ? full frame sensor

A: The 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm T1.05 Vision Cine Lens (E Mount, Feet/Meters) is meant for use in super 35mm mode.

[58 mm (Front)] Feels so solid! The focus breathes like a cinema lens. The 1.05 Aperture is heaven. it comes with a really nice leather like case. I feel like I own a Leica lens.

[Full-Frame] The lens came on time. Price is unbeatable for starting out cine lens. Fits my BMCC 6K FF perfectly. Packaging was very nice, the quality of the lens is nice and heavy. I will be using this a lot. Very happy and satisfied!

[Full-Frame] This lens works great for night time photography.

[Sony E] I've always been skeptical about reasonably priced lenses but went on a whim buying this one. It's pretty outstanding. Lots of character, and actually really intuitive when focusing, even wide open. In LOVE with the separation, and seemingly effortless focus. I am a hybrid shooter and it fits both needs, especially the de-clicked aperture. If 7artisans came out with a similar 35mm, I would buy in an instant.

[50mm] Tried this out on my Lumix S1H and now I don't want to remove it. Not much beats the Leica 50mm M lenses, but -- for the money -- this comes awfully close.

[Manual Focus] This lens is far from perfect. The technical reviews chronicling the problems with sharpness in the corners and chromatic aberration are accurate, but therein lies this lens's charm. This lens is an absolute light vacuum and flares like no other lens I've shot with, making capturing artistic portraits a blast. Wide-open, nailing critical focus (or as close to it as this lens can come) is a challenge but rewards you with really breathtaking images when you do. Honestly, it's even a better video lens as its incredible shallow DOF and its unusual flaring really lend itself to rendering a very pleasant cinematic look.

[13] I have the Nikkor lens 24-70- 2.8 and 70-200 2.8
Sold my 50mm 1.8s for this lens and LOVE IT!
This is not an easy lens! That is my love affair with this lens. When you massage the focus to the exact point you will be astounded with the results. I have also bought the 90mm 1.25 Artisan and that is great too. Again no comparison to Nikon but with some sharpening and contrast you acquire fantastic images with out of the park bokeh!

[f/1.05] Mounted on a Sony a7rii the photos are crystal sharp. For a $200 dollar lens it competes any $600 lens. The focus ring and aperture rings are stiff, but I like it that way. The auto/manual switch did change from just carrying the camera, but again not a real big deal. Lovely bokeh at f1.8 in the background, giving a nice touch to the picture.

[46°] Good sharpness, build quality, and autofocus is functional. In my opinion, a better value than Sony's 50mm f/1.8.

[13] As of July 2021, the only options of an ultrafast 50mm prime lens for Canon RF are: 1. Canon RF 50mm f1.2 - $2400 or Canon EF 50mm f1.2 - $1200 2. Sigma 50mm f1.4 art via adaptor -$900 3. This 7artisan 50mm f1.05 - $500

I would say this lens can achieve the same dreamy effect of 1 and 2 without double or quadruple the price. As a amateur photographer, I think this is the most sensible choice given the canon native lens' high cost and Sigma lens's weight. It's ok to manual focus with the help of focus peaking and magnifying function on my Canon RP, especially for static portrait shots. The 57cm close focus distance is not good fit for macro though.

Bottom line: a great affordable bokeh lens for portrait!
