The Shure SLXD14/DL4B offers actors, performers, instructors, clergy, and presenters a wireless lavalier microphone system that's easy to set up and dependable, which delivers crystal-clear digital sound quality. Built around a rugged, single-channel, half-rack receiver with removable antennas, the system is ideally suited for portable rigs or long-term installations in small- to medium-sized venues, event spaces, conference rooms, houses of worship, and education facilities.

The SLX-D operates in the UHF band to transmit high-quality, 24-bit digital audio with over 120 dB of dynamic range for crisp, detailed sound. It utilizes Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference and deliver a solid, reliable RF signal without dropouts.

This configuration comes with a black DL4 DuraPlex waterproof miniature omnidirectional lavalier microphone built to withstand the rigors of professional use. The discreet bodypack transmitter has a selectable 1/10mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'. It provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries or an SB903 rechargeable battery (available separately).

The all-metal, rackmount SLXD4 receiver features an intuitive LCD interface with meters for RF, battery status, and audio output. It also offers 60 dB of gain control, and both mic/line XLR and 1/4" instrument outputs. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning and IR sync to easily link the transmitter and receiver to the same frequency.

With up to 32 mic channels available at the same time, the SLX-D is ready to expand as your needs grow. What’s more, setting up multiple systems is made fast and easy via the Ethernet port, which links the receivers together for quick, coordinated frequency scans from a single location.

  • The mic also offers high gain before feedback, making it well suited for speech and vocals at events with loud sound reinforcement.
  • The omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound evenly from all directions, allowing for flexible mic positioning.
  • Designed to stand up to adverse conditions, the mic is equipped with a long-lasting, fully paintable, 1.6mm Shure Plex cable.
  • The mic plugs into the locking TA4M connector on the compact SLXD1 bodypack transmitter.
  • The rugged, plastic transmitter has a belt clip that attaches to the talent's clothing and an LCD that shows essential information.

  • The SLX-D delivers 24-bit digital audio with a fast transient response and over 120 dB of dynamic range—resulting in clear, accurate sound.
  • The system operates in the G58: 470 to 514 MHz UHF band with a 44 MHz tuning range and 1760 selectable frequencies, far away from potential Wi-Fi interference in the 2.4 GHz band.
  • Digital Predictive Switching Diversity uses a microprocessor to switch between the two antennas for the cleanest signal—before dropouts occur.
  • With a low latency of 3.2 ms, the system is ideal for applications that require live sound reinforcement.
  • The SLX-D's spectrum-efficient digital transmission technology allows for up to 32 mics to be used at once.
  • Up to 10 compatible systems per 6 MHz TV band and 12 systems per 8 MHz band are supported.

  • The SLX-D is engineered to provide outstanding sound for small- to medium-sized spaces and facilities—without costly, complicated features required primarily for large venues.
  • Intuitive front-panel controls and a high-contrast LCD screen with audio and RF meters makes set up a snap.
  • The auto-scan function automatically seeks out the cleanest available frequency for you. The receiver and transmitter then easily link to the same frequency via infrared.
  • The receiver offers up to 60 dB of adjustable gain and the display shows you where the ideal level should be.

  • Adding the SB903 lithium-ion rechargeable battery, along with an SBC10-903 single charger or an SBC203 dual-docking charger, offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to throwing away AA batteries (battery and chargers available separately).
  • Using the SB903 battery and SBC203 charger simplifies the task of keeping multiple transmitters charged and ready—you can even recharge the battery while still in the transmitter.
  • When powered by an SB903, the transmitter displays the remaining battery life in hours and minutes.

  • Adding UA874 active antennas or PA805SWB passive antennas increases the range of your system and offers increased protection against interference.
  • The UA844+SWB antenna distribution system (available separately) lets you stretch the power of your antenna pairs, giving you more on-air channels in less setup time.

Shure offers numerous lavalier, headset, and handheld microphone options to adapt your SLX-D system as your needs evolve.

  • The WL185 (cardioid) and WL184 (supercardioid) lavalier mics offer narrower, feedback-resistant pickup patterns for louder events.

  • The SM35 is a comfortable, durable headset microphone for active performance.
  • The SLXD2 handheld transmitter is available with several mic capsules choices for presenters who prefer the flexibility of a handheld microphone.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what is the latency ?

A: According to the manufacturer, because the Sennheiser EW 112P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System sends an analog audio signal, it has no latency.

Q: 2. Is there some sort of adapter I can use to plug this into a laptop using USB?

A: An audio interface, such as the the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (3rd Generation), BH #FOSCARSOLO3G, is a great way to get quality audio into your laptop from this wireless sytem. The Sennheiser kit comes with a CL-100 cable that will connect via XLR to the Focusrite device, which includes a USB cable to connect to the laptop.

Q: 3. will this system work in a fitness studio? we have coaches who sweat and are active during a group fitness class

A: Yes, the Shure SLXD14D Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Bodypack System with No Mics will be able to function inside a fitness studio. Please be aware that you will need to add microphones to connect to the transmitters and that the antennas for the transmitters and receiver must be within line of sight of each other in order for the system to function properly.

Q: 4. Would this work with the Shure MX412D?

A: Yes, the Shure SLXD3 Digital Plug-On XLR Transmitter is compatible with the Shure MX412D.

Q: 5. Does the receiver of this system use a removable battery?

A: The Shure SLXD4D Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Receiver in the Shure SLXD14D Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Bodypack System with No Mics does not use an internal battery but rather receives a 100 to 240 VAC external power connection from a dedicated power supply.

Q: 6. I've read that the AVX series introduces a 19 ms delay. Does this system introduce any delay? I will sometimes want to run wireless and wired microphones at the same time.

A: Hi Dave - the evolution Wireless series is an analog wireless system that operates on UHF frequencies - there's no delay with respect to transmission time. However, the distance of your wired microphone capsule from your wireless lav capsule should also be taken into consideration - due to timing differences between direct audio and distant audio, you can get a phasing sound, making your audio a bit hollow or lacking body. The AVX system operates on a DECT Wireless standard, which has 19ms of delay - we generally recommend to not mix G4 and AVX wireless together for that reason.

Q: 7. it seems geared to I struments, the ta4m ports will fit a WL185, but will they work well with them?

A: Although the Shure SLXD14D Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Guitar System (G58: 470 to 514 MHz) BH #SHSLXD14DG5 is packaged for for two guitar or bass players, itmay be used wih Shure WL185 microphones as well.

Q: 8. Which frequency would be best for Hawaii (specifically the North Shore of Oahu)? I see some frequencies aren't allowed in Hawaii? Maybe? A specific frequency would be appreciated.

A: There is no one frequency that is best to use all of the time. Any of the bands offered will work throughout Hawaii. The reason there are three bands is so that you can use many systems in the same space and at the same time. The receiver will scan for the best available frequency within that band to use at that time. You can use up to around 8 systems in the same band, in the same space and at the same time, before you would need to worry about switching bands for your next group of systems, to avoid interference with your first group of system.

Q: 9. Can I used this mic to shoot with my gopro 6?

A: Yes you can, if you have the GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter, BH #GO35MA. https://bhpho.to/2xKXdEv

Q: 10. Is this compatible with a Panasonic AGUX90?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser EW 112P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System is compatible for use with the Panasonic AG-UX90 UHD 4K Professional Camcorder.

[MEMS] We've been using the BLX models for a while, and they had lots of signal breakup issues and the plastic bodies were falling apart.

These are built like a tank, go much farther with no issues, and the ability to charge them has been a game changer.

[32] The Shure SLXD mic system is a great upgrade to the older SLX system. The setup is fast with open frequency scans in less than 10 seconds. It's also nice that this unit scans for both mics at once. The mics have a nice professional feel to them. The all metal housing of the mics is a great feature. Battery life is great at over 7.5 hours. Sound is just as good as a wired mic. Very happy with this series.

[101 dB] The SLX-D product line brings several high-end features into an affordable price range. Only problem is, parts are in short supply and these are very difficult to find. I've been buying the Guitar versions, as the Handheld + Lav Combos are scarcer than hen's teeth. Keeping my eye out for G58 Handhelds to add to these. B&H seems to get more in stock than other resellers and I appreciate that.

[220 µA] This is a fantastic mic for the Price. My only gripe is that it doesn't work with Shure wireless workbench in online mode.

[220 µA] As a Wedding DJ, I have a console with room for only one 19-inch rack mount mic receiver. I was going to buy two single units, but I didn't want four antennas. I stumbled across the SLX4D4 that's two receivers in one that only uses two antennas... PERFECT! And, it's easy to configure and sounds fantastic!

[MEMS] My Sure wireless microphone system is top notch. I love it. It worked flawlessly from the time I plugged it up without me having to change the channels. I'm really considering ordering another one just to have when I get those requests for three to four microphone set ups. Thanks B&H
