The Shure SLXD14/DL4B offers actors, performers, instructors, clergy, and presenters a wireless lavalier microphone system that's easy to set up and dependable, which delivers crystal-clear digital sound quality. Built around a rugged, single-channel, half-rack receiver with removable antennas, the system is ideally suited for portable rigs or long-term installations in small- to medium-sized venues, event spaces, conference rooms, houses of worship, and education facilities.

The SLX-D operates in the UHF band to transmit high-quality, 24-bit digital audio with over 120 dB of dynamic range for crisp, detailed sound. It utilizes Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference and deliver a solid, reliable RF signal without dropouts.

This configuration comes with a black DL4 DuraPlex waterproof miniature omnidirectional lavalier microphone built to withstand the rigors of professional use. The discreet bodypack transmitter has a selectable 1/10mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'. It provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries or an SB903 rechargeable battery (available separately).

The all-metal, rackmount SLXD4 receiver features an intuitive LCD interface with meters for RF, battery status, and audio output. It also offers 60 dB of gain control, and both mic/line XLR and 1/4" instrument outputs. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning and IR sync to easily link the transmitter and receiver to the same frequency.

With up to 32 mic channels available at the same time, the SLX-D is ready to expand as your needs grow. What’s more, setting up multiple systems is made fast and easy via the Ethernet port, which links the receivers together for quick, coordinated frequency scans from a single location.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are there external antennas?

A: Only on the belt pack. The receiver and handheld mic have internal antennae.

Q: 2. Will this system be impacted by the recent re-allocation of portions of the the 600mhz frequency ranges to cell phone companies? Or is their use illegal?

A: The bandwidth referred to collectively as the 600 MHz band includes frequencies from 617 to 698 MHz. Since this product operates below this space, it will not be affected by the reallocation.

Q: 3. Can you use 3 of these units together? We need a total of 6 mics for a theater production.

A: Yes, technically you can use 3 of these systems together. The normal max channel count for BLX systems without frequency distribution is 6. Having little to no interference really depends on where you will be using this system. Please use Shure's Frequency Finder website to make sure you are purchasing the correct frequency band based off your area code. https://www.shure.com/en-US/support/tools/frequency-finder

Q: 4. Does this set work without a mixer?

A: The wireless mic system can be plugged directly into a powered speaker, via the MIC level XLR output or the LINE level 1/4-inch output.

Q: 5. Shure BLX 1288/CVL-J10 is this rack mountabled??

A: No it isn't. I used a 1U rack shelf and used command strips to secure it.

Q: 6. Is there a battery level indicator on the receiver or transmitters?

A: No there is not, but they hold a charge for a good amount of time 3+++ hours. And now I will check out this LED solution.

Q: 7. Are these Mics UHF?

A: Yes. These microphones are UHF operating at 584 - 608 MHz

Q: 8. Can both of the microphones work at the same time? Can you connect additional bodypack transmitters, and run all of them at the same time?

A: The Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel is what is known as a dual channel system. You get 2 mic's but 1 receiver with 2 outputs. Yes you are supposed to use both mic's at the same time. That is the purpose of the system. You cannot expand on the system.

Q: 9. Can I buy several sets on two different bands for 12 mics all working at the same time a?

A: Yes you can use 3 systems of the Shure BLX188/CVL in one band and 3 in another band to be able to use 12 mics at the same time without their signals interfering.

Q: 10. Do these work with the paddle antennas to get more range or help with interference?

A: No, the Shure BLX88 receiver included with the Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Microphone System has built-in internal antennas and is not able to connect to external antennas. For this option, you will want to consider using the Shure BLX4R, SLX-D, QLX-D, and ULX-D series receivers.

[Omnidirectional] I am using this lav mic to amplify a 5 string banjo. I had been using a generic electret battery driven lav mic (think radio shack) for that purpose, replacing the mini-plug with a female 1/4 inch, then using a standard guitar cord, plugging into a Baggs Para DI, then into the board of the sound system with an xlr mic line. That was OK, but I had lots of thin wire to coil, a fragile battery pod and the nusiance of dead watch batteries if I forgot to switch the thing off. The SM11 of course needs no batteries and the wiring is much more robust than the cheap lav mic. I can go direct into a mixing board and the sound is quite nice. The banjo doesn't really need a lot of high end amplification, and doesn't produce deep lows -- all of which the dynamic mic doesn't pick up. So the result is a nice warm sound, and much more full-spectrum than the electret mic to my ear. Probably because the diaphragm is larger, I guess. I don't need to hide this rather large (thumb size)lav canister in clothing, like a video person would. It rides in the backside of the banjo. The included tie clip worked fine, clipped to a little jig I sometimes use. But instead I wrapped the body in some dense memory foam, and made my own mount that also acts as a tone regulator behind the head -- it's an open-back banjo thing. Looks like this product is robust and should work for years. Works fine going straight into the mixing board. But when I run it through the Baggs Para DI (which is a preamp as well as a DI) I have to use a transformer to change the signal to HI-Z for the 1/4 inch input. Then the output from the Bagg's male xlr (lo-z again) is too hot for the mixing board, so I use a 20db attenuator between the DI out and the board mic-line in. Works fine that way.

[46 MHz] Exactly what the description said it would be. It's about twice the size of an ECM-50, but it has excellent sound quality for lower level productions. Seems fairly rugged and requires no batteries. Use it for church shoots.

[1840] I have 5 of these. I have recommended them to other performers. I use them on my banjos. The are incredible, I use a tywrap and fix it to a tension hook on the outside of the banjo facing down into a sound hole. It has a great sound, I have used it for years, from a small pa, to onstage for a large audience. It always performs well. I have also used it for recording along with the front mic. With Banjo, when you move off axis it changes the tone, but with this, mic, you have no problem with that. The sound is always consistant. Well Done Shure.
