Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have read the two reviews of this item. It appears they the threading is of a very close tolerance. As far as I'm concerned that is a good attribute. My question concerns the locking mechanism itself; i.e., part A tolerance to part B. If you have already bought this and have had it in service for some while, I'm asking if the joint is solid and without any free play of tolerance. Yes, I have an Atlas MS20C. It would be much nicer to have a quick connect between the shaft and base because as we all know, it is typical to separate the two pieces during transport. Also, I'm know from experience that hasty and often assembly / disassembly of the base from the shaft invites the risk of stripping threads. On paper, this device looks very useful and I would definitely buy it if I only knew that it has a very solid fit between the halves with no wobble at all. Thank you very much.

A: Atlas as you well know makes excellent products. I cannot guarantee the QR-2 will not have some play to it. As the connection is not a thread its ball bearing.

Q: 2. How much weight is this rated for in a ceiling mount configuration?

A: While the manufacturer doesn't provide a load capacity, we feel that the Light Stand Mount with Wall Mount Base can hold a light or accessory no more than 4-5 lbs.

Q: 3. Can I attach a shock mount to this item?

A: Yes the Atlas Sound MS-10CE has a 5/8 tread on it allowing you use a shock mount on the top.

Q: 4. What size is the thread where it connects to the base?

A: The thread size of the cast iron base on the Atlas Sound DS-7E Desk Stand is 7/8"-27.

Q: 5. Will this work with the Shure SM7B in the lowest position? Does the height adjust grip get in the way of the XLR connection?

A: Yes, the Atlas Sound DS-7E Desk Stand can be used with the Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone. The mic's XLR connector will not be blocked by the height adjustment grip on the stand.

Q: 6. What size is the treading on this item?

A: The thread on this microphone stand is 5/8"-27.

Q: 7. Will the base on this stand accept the Atlas wheels (three casters on arms)?

A: Looks like it should. Try contacting Atlas direct. Maybe they can help you be certain of compatibility. Sorry couldn't be more help.

Q: 8. Is this adjustable?

A: Yes it's adjustable and it extend from 35-63"

Q: 9. What is the diameter of the base for this item?

A: The Atlas DMS10E has a 10 diameter cast iron base.

Q: 10. Will the atlas qr2 work with this stand?

A: Yes. It will fit into the base of this stand and fit the tube.

[0.925 lb] I had purchased a vintage Mercury microphone and needed a stand for it (it's a photo prop for me). The mike screwed on perfectly, and it's perfect for what I needed it for.

[0.925 lb] These haven't changed much in 70+ years. The clutch is still amazing, and the build excellent. Get it, use it. Not really the best thing for recording, in my experience, as they are more prone to transmitting vibration.

[0.925 lb] This magnificent device seemingly conquers the Newtonian attraction of microphone. Vs. floor. An elegant design which far surpasses other options such as duck tape, coat hangers, or very small presenters.
