Add two fast, high-capacity 2.5" U.2 SFF-8639 NVMe SSDs to your desktop computer with the Sonnet Fusion Dual U.2 SSD PCIe Cardfrom Sonnet, which fits into a full-height, full-length PCIe 3.0 x16 slot on your host Windows, Mac, or Linux system. This card operates electrically at PCIe 3.0 x8, so each drive receives four lanes of PCIe 3.0 bandwidth, which allows for read speeds of up to 6250 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6000 MB/s in RAID 0. If you don't need the performance boost of RAID 0, RAID 1 is available, which provides data redundancy, as are non-RAID modes.

The Fusion Dual may also be used in external Thunderbolt enclosures with a full-height, full-length PCIe 3.0 x16 slot at speeds up to 2750 MB/s. Intel and M1 Mac users may use the Fusion Dual with Thunderbolt 2 or Thunderbolt 3, while Windows and Linux users will need Thunderbolt 3.

Do you need more storage capacity for your computer? Is super high-speed throughput plus maximum IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second) performance critical to your work? U.2 NVMe PCIe SSDs deliver both. Sonnet's Fusion Dual U.2 SSD PCIe Card enables you to upgrade your system in a flash, mounting two enterprise class U.2 SSDs in a single full-length PCIe 3.0 x16 card slot, with no separate power or data cables, drive adapters, or mounting trays required.

U.2 SSDs and 2.5" SATA drives look similar. They even share the same general dimensions and mounting screw hole placement, but their connectors are different, and so is their performance. Unlike SATA drives, U.2 NVMe SSDs interface with your computer's PCIe bus, enabling them to perform seven times as fast.

Current PCIe 3.0 U.2 SSDs deliver sustained performance of up to 3500 MB/s read and 3500 MB/s write, or about seven times the performance of the fastest SATA SSDs.

U.2 SSDs are good for for storing large video projects. Sonnet's Fusion Dual U.2 SSD PCIe Card will support bigger SSDs as they become available.

Install the Fusion Dual U.2 SSD PCIe Card with your SSDs into your system and configure the SSDs as a RAID 0 set for read speeds of up to 6250 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6000 MB/s.

The Fusion Dual U.2 SSD PCIe Card is a full-height, full-length PCIe 3.0 card with an x16 (x8 electrical) interface, designed to support full performance from two U.2 NVMe PCIe SSDs.

The Fusion Dual devotes four lanes of PCIe 3.0 bandwidth to each installed SSD.

A specific motherboard or specific SSDs are not required to support RAID features. Also, no PCIe bifurcation is required.

Windows, Mac, and Linux compatible.

Connect and mount two U.2 SSDs directly to the card, with no power or data cables, adapters, or mounting trays required.

Supports RAID 0 and 1 configurations in Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Supports booting from a single (non-RAIDed) attached SSD.

Mac Pro 5,1 users can install macOS on one SSD to create an incredibly fast boot drive and use the other installed SSD as a fast media storage or scratch drive. The Fusion Dual U.2 SSD PCIe Card makes it possible.

Unlike M.2 SSDs, which require heatsinks to be attached to enable stable performance, U.2 SSDs are designed with their cases acting as heatsinks, which means that installation is much easier. As a result, the Fusion Dual U.2 SSD PCIe Card doesn't need a fan to keep the SSDs cool enough to enable them to maintain their high performance.

Got a Thunderbolt connection, but no PCIe card slot? Sonnet's Fusion Dual U.2 SSD PCIe Card is made for use in one of their Thunderbolt 3 expansion systems that accept full-length PCIe cards. The combo enables you to add two U.2 NVMe SSDs to any Mac computer with Thunderbolt 2 or Thunderbolt 3 ports, or Windows or Linux computer with Thunderbolt 3 ports at speeds up to 2750 MB/s.

NVMe compliance ensures that integrating a Fusion Dual U.2 SSD PCIe Card into your system is easy, as the necessary drivers are installed automatically. The Fusion card uses your computer's built-in drive formatting utilities to format the SSDs. SSD health monitoring is supported through S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) data reporting, too.

[Full Height] The board is very well designed to support maximum read and write rates for the M.2 memory modules. It took a little bit of time to install as the M.2 modules are sandwiched between two layers of heat sink material to keep the modules from overheating and throttling back.

Once installed the OS detected the new modules and then I used Widows Disk Management to format the modules and then create a RAID1 partition with the two modules mirrored.

Lots of online support options for the computer novice to integrate the new memory modules or to set up the RAID level desired.

[Full Height] I bought it to use in RAID 0 configuration. It took some time to figure out how exactly to set that up as the instructions took a roundabout way to describe it (have to hold down set button for 5 seconds while booted). But the Mac sees the 2 drives as 1 and after formatting I'm at a cool 1000Mb/s read speed. Not bad for the price!

[Full Height] Added 4 Samsung m.2 ssd cards to this and blazing fast under raid 0 even via the old PCIe 3 connection. The card will slightly bend when you put on all the thermo pads and tighten the heat sink but otherwise perfect. No sound and heat managed very well.

[Full Height] This card is the best combo-card option for a Mac Pro 5,1 (2010-2012) for adding 2 NVMe SSDs and 2 USB 3.2 ports. Note that using the 10 GB Ethernet port will cause a kernel panic, no big deal as the Mac Pro already has 2 1GB ports.

[0.92 lb] I had old 8-bay ARC-8050 (a Thunderbolt [v1]) unit from Areca. While it kept the data that I needed, during the Mac OSX BigSur shutdown it usually timed out when I wrote something to it. I wanted to change to a higher capacity and a new Thunderbolt 3 device. I got it shipped quickly directly from a third party. I checked the order of drives in the old 8-bay ARC-8050 (top one is drive #1, bottom one is drive #8); checked the order of drives in the new 12-bay Areca unit (top left is #1, top right is #6, bottom right is #12); placed drive #1 from the old unit into drive #1 in the new one, .. etc. Connected the new unit to my Mac, booted Mac and... my drive appeared... Very and painless transfer... The new unit is very fast: write is about 1600 MB/s, read about 700 MB/s (that's 8 10TB drives configured as RAID 6 [60TB disk] with about only 4TB free on disk). I'll add more drives when I have the money :-)

[Yes, RAID 0/1] I had the 8 bay TB2 and it worked super. Needed to upgrade and went for the 12 bay. It too works super. Hardware Raid is amazing. Nothing seems to slow it down. It maintains top level transfer speeds no matter what I am doing. It NEVER dips...consistent to drawer performance.

[Yes, RAID 0/1] Bought two of these for our Blackmagic Design Ursa Mini 12K cameras. They worked great. VERY sturdy and well made. Very fast transfer speeds. They get a little warm when under heavy load but all drives do so this can't be counted against them. If you need crazy speed (3400MB/s) this is the drive for you.
