A: well let me answer this question like this. there are 3 different surround modes .if you select different ones you get levels of base depending upon which you choose. also (its been a while)but i remember when i first got it set up i raised and lowered the channel volume level separately through the control pod on a certain input setting. but i use the optical audio from my pc to this system excursively. i can change the surround setup at the click of a BUTTON.
