Bright normal-length prime is designed for FX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras, but can also be used with DX models where it provides a 75mm equivalent focal length.

Impressively bright f/1.2 maximum aperture excels in low lighting conditions and also offers extensive control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.

Three aspherical elements are used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp imagery with accurate rendering.

Two extra-low dispersion elements greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater clarity and color rendering.

ARNEO and Nano Crystal Coats are used to prevent ghosting, reflections, and flare in order to realize improved contrast and clarity when working in strong lighting and backlit conditions. The Nano Crystal Coat controls incidental light from a diagonal direction while the ARNEO Coat controls incidental light from a vertical direction. A Super Integrated Coating is also featured on multiple elements to help ensure consistently accurate colors.

Multi-focus system incorporates two separate AF drive units, which are synchronized, to deliver especially fast and accurate focusing performance. This system uses stepping motors, which offer impressively smooth and quiet autofocus performance that is well-suited to both stills and video applications. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and an internal focusing design is used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.

Programmable Control Ring is, by default, set to adjust manual focus, but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.

Integrated OLED lens information panel allows you to quickly confirm aperture setting, focus distance, and depth of field figures right on the lens in both bright and dark situations.

Assignable L.Fn button works in conjunction with camera-based Fn buttons to provide a seamless point for quickly changing exposure settings and other functions.

Specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Dust- and moisture-resistant lens barrel benefits the lens' use in inclement conditions.

[9, Rounded] The Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S Lens with UV Filter Kit is probably one of the best prime lenses that I've ever owned.

[Autofocus] Excellent lens for low light. A little heavy but the quality of the lens makes up for it.

[47°] Perfect weight balance for the Z9. Those who said it's heavy haven't held a heavy lens. It's hefty but it's quality. The 1st hour I had it, I couldn't stop shooting with it. I had to put it down. Such an amazing lens. Here's the first shot with it of the family cat. Haha.

[Nikon Z] This is far and away, the finest lens I’ve ever owned. It performed perfectly, during a low light ceremony at an athletic event for breast cancer survivors. The clarity and focus are stunning. If there is a perfect lens anywhere, this might be it.

[82 mm (Front)] By far, I reach for this lens more than any other in my kit. The handling of light due to it's fast aperture is freakishly great. This lens makes even a mediocre photographer appear at the talent range of a pro. Build is rock solid and is light enough to carry around all day. Highly recommend that you save up for this lens as it is worth every penny!

[Nikon Z] My first 50mm was a Canon f1.8 paired with a 5D Mark 1. It quickly became my favorite lens because it was very sharp and rendered colors beautifully.

When I made the jump from DSLR to mirrorless, I decided to go with the Nikon Z9. The first lens that was a must have for me was the Nikkor 50mm f1.2. The combination of the Nikon Z9 and the 50mm f1.2 is off the charts!!!

The build quality is excellent and the balance with the Z9 is perfect. Yes, it is heavy but it feels like high quality equipment.

The images this lens produces are stunning! I have captured everything from portraits to fashion to landscapes and the results are all outstanding! This is easily the best, sharpest and highest quality lens you can get, you won’t be disappointed.

[0.15x] This is in my opinion the best street photography lens I had.

I have 50mm F/1.8 S as well. And I don't like super crispy sharp images from it.

But this one due to F/1.2 S aperture is much much better as for me.

F/1.8 S is much lighter and 4 times less expensive.

Yes. It is big and heavy.

But when people on the street see that you are making pictures of them on 1.2 S they are smiling to you when they see a huge lens.
It's like WOW effect. Wow - it's a big heavy (and possibly expensive lens). Let's pose :)

When people on the street see that you are making pictures of them on 1.8 S small lens - there is no any WOW effect :)
It's like some ordinary guy with ordinary lens. Is he spying? :)

[f/1.2] Heck'n creamy bokeh. If you want to save money do not buy this lens. I am already contemplating purchasing more of the higher end Z lenses now...
