[0.02 lb] I've had a set of 3 Tentacle sync boxes for years now without any issues. The battery in one wouldn't keep a charge, started swelling, and I thought I'd have to spend a lot to replace it. But this battery replacement kit did the trick. Super easy to follow instructions and took maybe 10 minutes to fix.

[0.02 lb] I'm a DP that shoots a lot of doc and corporate style work. When budget is tight, I'm often asked to record audio by myself. For years, I've struggled with issues from my Sony wireless lavs, usually due to interference or other issues that should be solved by a proper audio recordist.


But when I am doing the one-man-band thing, this recorder saves me a lot of trouble. Since it's not wireless, there is no interference to worry about. Since it has 32-bit float, I don't have to worry about gain.


The only thing I need to focus on is making sure I've attached the lav properly.


So overall this device saves me time on set.


Another huge bonus is that you have the audio tracks on a separate memory card, and can share this with remote producers or editors immediately after the shoot, which they love.

Bottom line: I would buy this again.

[0.02 lb] I make a lot of content centered around the sport of rowing, and lately I've started using the Track E as a means of getting audio from the boat for use in videos recorded from a motorized boat following them. I previously used on-camera audio, but that was always drowned out by the marine engines on the follow boats. Having audio coming from the boat itself (specifically the coxswain) has been a game-changer.

The software is also super simple to use, effortlessly matching 1-2 hour audio clips to a variety of shorter video clips shot during the same time. I can then take those clips into my NLE and treat them as though the audio was originally a part of the video, with no need to further sync the audio data.

I did have one issue with one of my units where Bluetooth stopped working, but Tentacle's handling of the replacement process instilled me with a lot of confidence in their company and product and I will definitely be continuing to use these for my content!

[0.1 oz / 4 g] Had a battery bulge and swell the case of my sync box. Ordered the battery replacement kit. Easy instructions and installation. Cranked it back up and put it into the rotation again.

[0.1 oz / 4 g] I produce a fishing show for TV and these replaces six wireless mic systems and a 6-channel digital recorder. The wireless system needed 28 AAs to operate for about 9 hours plus another 28 AAs if it went longer.

These take up a fraction of the space and weight, doesn't require coordination of radio channels and doesn't require bulky battery chargers for remote location work.

Audio quality is very nice, a bit warm. And they ran for 15 hours during a couple of duration tests.

The Tentacle app makes setting up and running them very easy. And it's possible to deactivate the slider switch on all the units so that the person being recorded can't stop the recorder or turn it off by accident.

Of course the ability to synchronize all the recorders, along with all the cameras connected to Tentacle Sync timecode generators makes it very easy to line up all the tracks in post-production.

For me, working as a one-man band, these greatly reduce the workload and worry in the field. And it's pretty easy to add as many channels needed. I was running six independent audio channels. Now I can run more if needed because I'm not limited by the channels of a separate audio recorder.

[Black] Battery died after two years of intermittent use and wouldn’t charge. Took the chance that it was only a battery problem and ordered this replacement kit. Comes with all necessary tools and instructions. Took about ten minutes. Problem solved.

[0.02 lb] My expactations were not super high for something so inexpensive but i did my first shoot with it this week and i'm totally thrilled with it. First of all its very easy to use, the tentacle app works great, i can listen to what i'm recording using my phone but with a slight delay. i plugged in my B3 mic and it took less then 60 seconds to get it setup in the app. once set up it only takes seconds to put on someone, then it will record for like 12 hours, both battery and memory card, its just amazing.

[0.1 oz / 4 g] I picked this up along with a pair of Tentacle Sync-E devices. I was previously just running audio into the top handle of an FX-3, which is fine, but doesn't offer 32-bit float audio. This is a pretty simple solution. My Tentacle Sync app saw it automatically and added it, the sync process was a single button press in the app, and there's a little record-trigger button in the app that let's you start/stop recording remotely without the need to trigger it on the device itself. For anyone wondering, both the Sennheiser ME-2 and RODE Lavalier-II worked for me right out of the box with this, and the locking connectors fit the input jack on the Tentacle perfectly.
