It offers a custom fit for your Nikon 180-400 TC 1.4X FL VR lens, protecting it from bumps and scratches to preserve its finish and condition without taking up extra room. The insulated design provides a thermal barrier between your hands and the lens surface when you are working in cold temperatures, and it is water resistant so your lens is protected when you are working in rainy weather. The TravelCoat fits over your lens and stays attached with touch-fasteners, so you can get it off easily and start shooting. This cover is made for use with the lens hood on in the reverse position and it is compatible with a stock or replacement foot.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this a true addition or an expensive replacement to the Nikon 200-400 F4?If I slapped a 1.4x TC on the end Id have a similar piece of glass for about half the price.

A: The 180-400 is a VERY significant improvement over the 200-400 f4. I've owned 3 copies of the 200-400. The 180-400 is much better. You will understand the joy of the built-in converter if you've tried putting on and taking off a regular TC. I've even used my 180-400 with internal TC engaged AND added an external 1.4 x TC as well. If you can afford this lens, it's worth it.

Q: 2. Will this fit my Eos SL1 with 18 - 55mm lens?

A: yes!

Q: 3. Will this fit a Leica R6.2 with a Summicron-R 50mm lens and removable hood?

A: Based on the dimension of the Leica R6.2 with the Summicron-R 50mm lens and hood attached, this case can fit.

Q: 4. Hello Ladies and Gentlemen's I just bought this lens and I am about to purchase the camera body to attach it to the lens . I was doing my research and find out from Nikon website that Nikon D6 it is not listed as compatible camera body with this lens! Is it true or Nikon is so incompetent/lazy to update their own website?! I own pretty much all Nikon digital camera's including Nikon D6 but as I am waiting for the lens to arrive I thought that I am doing some research. All sensible answers are welcome, Kind regards S.

A: Though not listed, it should be compatible with the Nikon D6 as the D6 is one of the newest camera options from Nikon.

Q: 5. Does Nikon make a hard case for this lens? I find it hard to believe that a 12k+ lens comes only with a bag for a case!!!

A: Unfortunately, Nikon does not have a hard case designed for use with the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR Lens, B&H # NI1804004E. If you are looking for a hard case for your usage needs, I would recommend the Pelican 1460 Case with Foam (Black), B&H # PE1460FB, as a good option for your usage needs.

Q: 6. Will this fit my Fujifilm X-T50 with a Fuji 15-45mm lens attached?

A: The FUJIFILM X-T50 Mirrorless Camera with 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens will not fit in the LensCoat BodyBag 4/3 (Black).

Q: 7. Used warranty

A: Used items have 90 day warranty with B&H.

Q: 8. Are the minimum focusing distance and maximum magnification for the lens with or without the built in teleconverter?

A: The minimum focus distance is the same with or without the TC being on. With the TC it's .36 and without it's .24.

Q: 9. What are the compatible drop-in filters?

A: The only compatible filters are the drop in polarizer; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1128782-REG/nikon_2221_40_5mm_slip_in_circular_polarizing.html and the clear filter that comes with the lens. You can try other brand 40.5mm filters but I cannot guarantee that they will fit due to the different thickness of filter rings.

Q: 10. What is the main reason to own this lens instead of a Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E?

A: The main reason for getting the NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR Lens is that you would get world-class, best possible image quality. The NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens is very good but is not in the same league. With the NIKKOR 180-400mm, you also get the best possible build quality with one full stop faster f/stop. If your desire is to get the best possible imaging quality for birding or sports or landscape, the NIKKOR 180-400mm is for you.

[0.285 lb] Exactly what I hoped it would be. Fits like a skin, thinking about buying another and cutting end so I can leave it on.

[Camouflage] This item was divided into several sections which fit each part of my lens perfectly. Fits snug and covers the entire lens well.

[Camouflage] When I travel, I put this over my lens and pack it in my carry-on/roll-aboard luggage. It works well. I have similar for my larger 500mm f4E lens

[0.285 lb] I usually have a lens coat on my super-tele lenses, however I went with this and the XX Large hoodie instead for my new 500mm f4E VR FL. I got tired of the way the lens cost fit on the lens, you either have to remove pieces or deal with it. Lenscoats, especially the new ones cover up too much of the lens, such as function buttons, the five main switches, the drop-in filter holder, the manual focus ring. So I slowly started removing pieces until I had barely any left. So I decided to buy this instead and I really like it, it’s thicker and offers more protection than the regular lens coat. It’s on the lens when the lens is in the bag, either my thinktank Airport Accelerator or long lens bag. It’s easy to remove and put on and it protects the lens from getting banged up or scratched, etc. Once I bring the lens out of the bag and out of this, I put it directly onto my monopod or tripod and I’m careful. So far so good, my lens looks like new almost a year later and I’m no longer messing with the lens coat being in my way. For me this is the best option. Maybe someday they will make lenscoats for actually using your lens, but for now I’ll just use this to protect the lens when it’s not on top of my tripod.

[Camouflage] I was looking for a protective cover for my Canon 70-200 L IS II; something that would fit in my backpack. The original Canon lens case is too bulky to place in the backpack. The TravelCoat fits the bill! It protects the lens and does not take additional space in the bag. A pricey item, but it does the job.

[0.285 lb] What a neat accessory! I love this lens coat for my 120-300mm lens because, it's a perfect fit and the peace of mind I get knowing my lens is protected from whatever conditions I my run into.

[0.285 lb] Nikon supplies a very good case and lens cover. The travel coat is very well made and appears to be durable but again it is probably not required for my use with the Nikon furnished case and lens cover.
