Engineered and optimized for astrophotography with mid-sized optical tube assemblies (OTAs), the Celestron Advanced VX 6 150mm f/5.0 GoTo Telescopedelivers the performance required for clear images through the use of dual-axis low-cog DC servo motors and backlash compensation. Added to this are encoders on the motors and Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PPEC), which help to improve positioning and tracking precision and ensure your target object stays centered for long-exposure photography techniques. Supporting the mount is a large 2" stainless steel tripod that has a wide stance for stability on most terrain and a center tray that holds 1.25" and 2" eyepieces and accessories and acts as a leg lock to further stabilize while helping to minimize vibrations.

The brain of the system is the NexStar+ computer controller, which is equipped with a database of over 40,000 objects, including the planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and the complete Messier catalog; it can also be programmed with up 100 custom user-defined objects with filters to create custom object lists. Its intuitive menu-driven user interface makes observing the heavens fast and easy; features such as guided tours, extended information on 200 popular objects, and multiple alignment options make the NexStar+ controller an invaluable tool to new users and experienced stargazers alike.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the mount come with a cable to connect the NexStar hand controller to a laptop?

A: It does not. You will need a micro USB To USB-A cable: BH# PECUAMUMBM6Q

Q: 2. Is the dovetail compatible with an Orion Starseeker IV mount?

A: The Celestron C6-A-XLT CG-5 6" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope has a standard Vixen dovetail rail so it will fit any brand mount that uses a Vixen dovetail. We do not sell Orion brand mounts but based on the specs on Orion's website, the Celestron telescope not will fit. Plus the Orion mount only supports 13 pounds. The Celestron scope weighs 10. I would recommend using a stronger mount for the Celestron such at this scope and mount kit: https://bhpho.to/2YyNBqG

Q: 3. It's says that the focal length is 200mm but it's 1000mm correct?!

A: That is a web error the focal length is 1,000 mm

Q: 4. Does it come with a polar scope?

A: It comes with a 6x30 Finderscope 1.25" 90° Star Diagonal

Q: 5. Does it comes with the NexStar+ controller with the USB port?

A: Yes, the NexStar SE telescopes now ship with NexStar+ Hand Control with mini USB port. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Q: 6. Does the Celestron Illuminated RACI Finder Scope fit on the 9.25 OTA?

A: Yes, the Celestron C9 1/4-A XLT 9.25" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (OTA Only, CGEM Dovetail) is compatible with the Celestron RACI finder scope: https://bit.ly/3HnwhMC

Q: 7. I see the mount handle obstructing the polar bore scope ? how do you polar align this with handle obstructing ?

A: The CGX and CGX-L mounts utilize the All Star Polar Alignment routine. It is substantially more accurate than a polar finder scope. However, if a customer insists on using a Polar Scope, we do offer one that is used off axis. But trust me, once you use All Star Polar Alignment - you will never want to use a polar scope again.

Q: 8. The description does not describe the telescope, only the mount. Is the Celestron 8" Newtonian is included?

A: It comes with the telescope, the Optical Tube Assembly (OTA) There is very little information available on Celestron website. 8” (200mm) f/5 optical design provides excellent wide field views Parabolic primary mirror minimizes spherical aberration to produce a better image.

Q: 9. Hi, Does this OTA supports the Celestron Fastar and can accommodate the Starizona Hyperstar?

A: The Celestron C6-A-XLT CG-5 6" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope is compatible with the Starizona Hyperstar. The Celestron Fastar is not made anymore.

Q: 10. What adapters are needed to install **Astromania 2" Multiple 5-Position Filter Wheel** on the telescope?

A: The Starlight Xpress USB Filter Wheel with 5-Position 2" Eyepiece Filter Carousel (Female/Male T-Mounts) BH #STSXUFW2T • MFR #SXUFW-2T comes with the necessary adapters to mount it to the scope.

[60.1 lb] I am 83 and wanting to return to a hobby I had as a
teenager. Back then I could not afford a fine telescope. Many years later, here I am prepared to fulfill my childhood wish.

I called B%H this morning and spoke with Jacob. From the very
beginning he was incredibly helpful. I explained to him that I was needing advice on purchasing a good Telescope and that I was interested in Astrophotography.

Jakub was patient with me and help me understand the various options in selecting a telescope and the necessary hardware for Astrophotography. He was polite and happy to engage me in a helpful conversation.

I did purchase a Crestron NexStar Evolution 6 with a number
of Accessories. I am excited that I have finally fulfilled my life long wish to own a fine telescope.

Thank you, Jacob

Robert

[60.1 lb] Just received my telescope. I have used it once so far. Shipping was on time and well packaged. Easy set up of scope. I found star pointer would not adjust completely for vertical use. I called Celestron and they sent me a new one immediately. I have yet to try it
to see if works. To update controllers, you must buy a usb to mini usb cable, the cable doesn’t come with scope.

[7 - 77°] Spent quite a bit of time working out the exact package I wanted, and the SE6 ticked all the boxes but was too pricey in Sydney (about double the cost). I was a bit nervous about shipping it such a long way but B&H managed to get it to me in just 4 days and it didn't even need collimation on arrival. You do need to weigh the value of a local warranty, but when you can buy 2 for the price of a local purchase, it's really an easy choice.

[60.1 lb] I can't say enough good things about this scope. I was apprehensive at first because I know that refractors are the go to when it comes to astrophotography, but not wanting to spend $4,000+ on a mount and scope, I opted for this Newtonian. Granted there is a fairly steep learning curve and many mistakes were made along the way, but I have learned a lot and have achieved some magazine worthy shots, IMHO. Couple of key points - when using the all-star polar alignment feature, BE SURE your scope is pointing within a few degrees of TRUE NORTH. If you are using your smart phone to point you in the direction of North BE SURE you change in your settings that you want your compass to point True North. This has saved me HOURS and HOURS of frustration trying to get the Polar alignment to work. Get yourself a Bahtinov mask - you won't achieve frustration free focus without it.

[7 - 77°] I've been waiting for months for the 8 or 9.25 Evolution to arrive. I have several scopes of larger apertures and my get outside fast scope is my 10 Dob on wheelie bars in the garage. I live in a dense light polluted area, a few miles from Phoenix downtown. Big dob captures a lot of light pollution as well as a few more DSOs so, for the moon, planets, M31, M42 when they're in my narrow window or when I want to just run up to the park a few miles away I can toss this on my front seat, takes up no room, and I have easy quick set-up, true go-to efficiency with the quick three star/planet alignment in the new Evolution. Don't expect to see dark nebulae or faint galaxies with this 6 scope but the optics are very crisp even with the supplied eyepieces. I did add the Celestron 2 diagonal as I have mostly 2 eyepieces and I experienced no vignette effects. Tripod is sturdy enough for this scope but I'd heard others with the 8 not as pleased (9.25 has a heavier set-up). I found it easier to use with the hand piece than a tablet and the Sky Portal app but I run the app anyway control with the hand piece. Overall a great addition to my collection. A good beginner scope but too much reliance on the electronics can be an issue and, the battery will someday fail; not easily replaced.

[60.1 lb] Received my new Celestron Evolution 6 in 2 days thanks to B&H free expedited shipping. The reviews by Ed Ting and others of this scope made it seem terrific, and it is. Many thoughtful design elements throughout and a very attractive, user friendly package. The optics are very clean and the computer aided alignment options work very well. It’s a great grab and go scope for when you just have a short time for observing.
Unfortunately the first scope was defective out of the box and had azimuth motor issues. After contacting Celestron about the issue and waiting a week with no reply, I reached out to B&H by chat. First, every B&H employee was sensitive to the disappointment you feel when a purchase you are excited about is defective. My problem was quickly diagnosed and within several minutes a free shipping label was in my inbox. My return was processed unbelievably quickly and within 6 days my replacement scope arrived and it is perfect!
I have always been impressed by B&H customer service but my experience with this telescope exchange confirms that their service is the best in the business. Between the curated product selection, the expert advice, customer service and value pricing B&H is the best!
