Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. if the t stop is T2.1, is the f stop f1.8?

A: There isn't a constant F to T-stop conversion ratio since the T-stop is a measurement of the light being passed through the lens where as the F-stop is the size of the opening of the aperture. The F stop is only dependent on distance while the T stop is effected by all the things that change the amount of light passing through the lens to the sensor. But it is safe to assume that the F-stop is going to be a smaller number than the T-stop.

Q: 2. What is the rear PL flange depth?

A: The flange depth of the Meike 50mm T2.1 FF-Prime Cine Lens (PL Mount) is the standard 52mm depth of most PL lens mounts.

Q: 3. can i use it with zcam e2 m4?

A: yes you can with a MFT to Ef mount adapter on the Z-CAM

Q: 4. Does this really have a 90mm outer diameter? I thought that it was 85mm but the item description says 90mm. Is this a mistake?

A: The product has a 90mm front diameter and an 82mm filter thread, as that thread is found on the inner part of the front end of the lens.

Q: 5. Can this lens kit be used on a C200 effectively even tho it's not a full frame body?

A: Yes it can.

Q: 6. Is it possible to change the lens mount on my own?

A: This lens is not user-swappable. Duclos Lens offers premium cinema modifications for Meike lenses in Micro 4/3, Sony E, and Fuji X mounts.

Q: 7. What's the image quality between the full-frame version and the super 35 version, for say the pocket cinema 6k pro?

A: The image quality is approximately the same. the difference is that additional glass, "a 45mm image circle for full-frame sensor coverage" is added to the full frame version VS the 33.6mm image circle on the super 35 version.

Q: 8. Does the lens come with any shims to adjust the back focus?

A: The Meike 35mm T2.1 FF-Prime Cine Lens (EF Mount) does not ship with shims included.

Q: 9. Is there a matte box that fits this lens?

A: Yes there is. Here is a compatible matte box from a selection of several we offer: Wooden Camera 2-Stage Clamp-On 4 x 5.65" Zip Box (80-85mm) B&H # WO241600: https://bhpho.to/3wUawfV

Q: 10. These lenses vs the Rokinin cine lenses? What would the difference be exactly?

A: The Rokinon's have faster apertures The Meike lenses are smaller and have longer focus throws (which makes them more accurate to focus). It is also worth noting that Rokinon has several lines of cinema lenses from their DS series to their Xeen and Xeen CF. The Meike are closest to the Xeen CF in build quality. The Meike are compact sturdy lenses.

[50mm] I've used ROKINON lenses which were quite above average. The Sirui anamorphic lens was even better. I just finished my first feature using the Sirui. Now that I just used this Meike FF on my Bmpcc4k for my trailer.... I am just blown away by the depth of field, bokeh and color depth of this lens. The quality, the weight, the build quality is on par to a much more expensive cine lens. This is the range of a 5k plus cine lens. I'm planning on buying the other focal lengths as well

[T2.1] Super happy with the image from this sub $1000 lens. Great focal length when paired with the 24mm,35mm, and 50mm.

Hope to get a lot of life out of this!

[82 mm] I was looking for sharpness and found it. While some of my other lens may be faster, I rarely open them up all the way. Shooting this lens at 2.8 resulted in very sharp images.

[45.0 mm] A seriously good lens. Well built nice glass. Super sharp and easy to focus
I will be ordering the 85 mm. Anyone thinking of moving up to cine lenses you can't go wrong with theses lenses.

[82 mm] I was in the market for cine lenses and while doing research I stumbled across this lens. It was delivered quickly and I took it out the box and immediately fell in love with the design and the build quality. The long focus throw makes focusing so much easier for both handheld and focus pullers. I took the lens on a shoot the first day I got it and the image I got out of the lens was stellar. I had worked with 50mm lenses in the past but this lens has a very nice look to it. The shoot went well and I quickly adapted to the difference in focus throw when focusing on moving subjects.

I took the lens out on a wedding photoshoot and surprisingly it did very well! Normally you want good autofocus for weddings, especially the one I was at, but with a little help from the focus assist on my camera, I was able to keep focus on the subjects the whole time.

If you combine the T2.1 aperture with slow motion, you can get some absolutely dreamy shots with this lens. It's at the perfect focal length where you can get close to a subject and it won't look distorted, but can also serve as a bit of an establishing shot lens. Overall, 5 out of 5 star rating. Don't pass up on this lens.

[11] So far, I can't seem to find much wrong with this lens. It's not just a great cinema lens under 1000.00, it's a great cinema lens, period-and I have hands-on experience with a HUGE variety of lenses from every price range. Perfectly sharp, near-zero breathing, CA is well controlled (but, yes, there is a tiny bit.) All that in a very well engineered, professional housing with smooth-as-silk action on both gears and a lovely compact form factor. Ordered the 35mm this week, and will order the 75 as soon as it's in stock. I'm actually saddened that they're not making a 24 or 18 of this lens, that's how much I like it. Super glass at a super price point.

[11] This is a perfect step up from photo lenses into Cine lenses. If your wondering if you will see a difference between a set of Sigma Art glass and this... You will! I personally think the falloff and flaring on these lenses are perfect for the Modern/vintage blend with a slightly warmer tone then DZO Primes I find these to be a little more welcoming to skin tones.

If you're wondering if this is worth the price tag. I'd say so!

[45.0 mm] This glass is has little CA , is built well and neutral so you can use these lenses in the real world... the DZO vespids are smaller and have a full set already...true!(as of writing only the 35mm,50mm,85mm and soon the 24mmare avail) But for about the same money you get lenses that are marginally softer and I mean barely... but but THE lack of CA cant be understated... the size and weight is small for cine not as small as dzo but I LIKE the fact they dont look like toys on my Red Gemini... I have all the current PL 35-50-85 and I used recently on Green screen all 3 performed brilliantly... these are the best BUDGET cine lenses I have ever used and Meike is straight forward about how they are able to that. Personally I can manage with just the 35 50 and 85 for most corp stuff etc but my cine work I am waiting on them to release 16mm Hopefully the 24mm ships in Nov but times are tuff.... Anyway- I cant belive the IQ and Build Q at this price - I have NO issues with filter threads as another reviewer mentioned however a good basic matte box for these on the cheap is the Tiltaing Mattebox that takes 1 4x5.65 if you just need a solution -note-you need the 85mm outer adapter for the Tilta to work in clamp on mode*its in accessories I think... anyway this is a fantastically clean lens that gives me build and mechanics needed to work in the real world...so long sigma art photo glass. !!!
