  • Eyepieces are set at a 45° angle to place user's head in a comfortable viewing position
  • Head can rotate a full 360° to make sharing in a lab or around a table easier and more efficient
  • Color-coded objectives provide fast identification of the selected magnification

  • 10x wide field eyepiece maximizes light throughput for bright and clear views
  • Three magnification choices provide a wide range for a variety of applications: 40x, 100x, 400x
  • 4x, 10x, & 40x achromatic objectives
  • Achromatic objectives correct spherical and chromatic aberration, so the color fidelity of the specimen will be accurate and the field of view will appear flat with the only perceptible curvature at the edges

  • Coaxial dual-speed coarse and fine focusing mechanism provides the ability for tack-sharp views far beyond a single-speed design, 0.004" (0.1mm) of travel per rotation of fine focusing knob
  • Dual LED illumination system provides lower (transmitted) illumination and upper (incidental) illumination, making it ideal for solid, semi-transparent, opaque, and transparent specimens
  • Each illuminator has its own rheostat dimmer dial
  • Square 3.5 x 3.5" stage with slide/specimen holders
  • Rotating disc diaphragm has six aperture sizes to easily control the amount of light transmitted up to the specimen
  • Set of 10 prepared slides lets users start learning microscopy right out of the box

  • Runs on three (3) included AA batteries for use in the field
  • The use of LED illumination, rather than traditional halogen or incandescent, extends the battery life for more runtime
  • Included 100-240 VAC power plug
  • A, C, G, and I plug adapters for use in the US, Japan, Europe, UK, Australia, New Zealand, China, Argentina

[Aluminum] This is an excellent field microscope. It's easy to use, the images are clear and the unit seems to be built very well. At this point I can find nothing to list on the downside; only time will tell.

[Yes] Item was shipped fast and promptly. The microscopes works as advertised. You will need to buy blank slides. The lcd screen works much better than standard eye pieces. It is very lightweight and does not take up much space in your home. Don't believe all the negative reviews about this scope. You can see all kinds of living organisms in one drop of pond water. The attached images are some kind of egg sack. (Not sure what it is) that I found in a drop of pond water. Photos were taken from the Pentaview. You can also record video. Comes with a 4 GB SD memory card.

[Aluminum] Somebody had a question whether this works with a Mac. It does. Simple to set up. Optics seem decent. I think one of these would satisfy a kids curiousity. I'm going to use it to look at styli for wear.

[5.965 lb] The digital camera and viewer are second to none. It is better than what is available to me in my science department. As to its limits, I can dimly make out fuzzy bacterial cells on a professionally prepared bacterial microscope slide - as one would expect for 400x without phase contrast or an oil immersion lense. The image quality for eukaryotic cells is crystal clear and outstanding. The batteries fit in the battery compartment just fine and the electric plug also works just fine. The light on the tetraview cannot penetrate a leaf but I have worked with professional scopes whose lighting is powerful enough to penetrate a leaf without further sectioning to make it thinner. Overall, it seems to be a very good product that is professional grade in most of its components and optics. The digital components are outstanding. The light is sufficient, but I think some professional scopes have a more powerful light. Some of the parts, such as the little metal arm that holds a slide in place, seem a little bit more flimsy than a professional scope. I would still rate this scope very highly and it certainly exceeded my expectations.
