Ideal for advanced high school, biology, college, veterinarian, medical, or technical applications, the Celestron CB1000CF 40-1000x Binocular Microscopeis outfitted with a binocular head set at a comfortable 45° angle to its body for a natural and comfortable viewing position and can rotate a full 360°, so a lab group can easily share it without having to move. The head is equipped with dual wide-field 10x eyepieces that, when combined with the objectives, produce magnifications from 40x to 1000x. To facilitate easier slide and specimen changes, the four-position nosepiece is set in a reverse position, so the unused objectives face away from the user.

Its dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser provides a fast and easy way to achieve tack-sharp views. A large stage has integrated rulers and a slide/specimen holder to make it easy to view a variety of specimen types. The lower LED light is directed through a 1.25 N.A. Abbe condenser with an iris diaphragm to give you extreme control of the light coming through to the stage. To help improve views and contrast through a variety of specimen types, Celestron includes three colored filters that can be easily installed and removed as needed. The microscope is powered by an included AC power adapter that comes with a set of four outlet plug adapters for both domestic and international use.

[40 to 1000x] This is an excellent thing to have if you're in your binos most of the day or are looking far far away and can't hold steady enough. This adapter just connects to my Steiner 10x42 binos by screwing off the center hub cap and reconnecting with the adapter then connect to any tripod.

[10.99 lb] I purchased this microscope for my granddaughter, a grade 5 student. As a retired physician with experience in using a microscope, I would judge this instrument an excellent value for its price. The illumination is of the fixed Koehler type, but there are work-arounds and the achromatic objectives are surprisingly good. Photomicrography can be a problem, not because of the microscope itself, but because of the constraints of available instruments. The Celestrone prepared slides are excellent. Richard Headstrom's Adventures with a Microscope can be highly recommended as manual for activities.
