This angled-viewing Celestron LandScout 20-60x80 Spotting Scope Kitmakes the ideal companion at the range, in the field, or on the trail—and as a beginner astronomical telescope for lunar and wide-field planetary viewing.

At the low 20x magnification, it can be used for taking in large portions of the terrain to make it easy to find your subjects with the ability to dial it up to 60x to make detailed observations—even at long distances. The scope's large 80mm objective, combined with anti-reflection fully coated optics, draws in copious amounts of light, giving it competent low-light performance at dawn or dusk, or when viewing subjects at long range on high power. The larger objective also improves the field of view and exit pupil diameter, to give you a more immersive and comfortable viewing experience versus a similar scope with the same magnification range but a smaller objective. With its eyepiece set at a 45° angle relative to the optical tube, your head and neck are in a comfortable position whether you're standing, sitting, or lying prone.

Designed as a complete kit, Celestron includes several accessories to help get you observing faster. First is a convenient tabletop tripod outfitted with a simple pan/tilt head, so you can set it up just about anywhere. Then, there is a basic smartphone adapter that allows you to capture photos and video on your phone through the eyepiece to edit, share, and post quickly and easily. Finally, you get a soft canvas carry bag that the scope, tripod, and digiscoping adapter all fit into for easy carrying and safe storage.

Universal Smartphone Digiscoping Adapter    Tabletop Tripod with Pan-Tilt Head    45° Angled Viewing    Powerful 20-60x Zoom Eyepiece    Oversized 80mm Objective Lens    Anti-Reflection Fully Coated Optics    Armored Water-Resistant Housing    Rotating Tripod Collar & 1/4"-20 Mount

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If the 60mm objective lens is recessed for shade and protection, are there any vignetting issues?

A: Yes the lens is recessed about 1 inch on the Celestron LandScout 12-36x60 Spotting Scope. It does not vignette the view.

Q: 2. spotting scopes for birding

A: The TrailSeeker 80 Spotting Scope is ideal for outdoor use including bird watching. It is tripod adaptable, features a strong zoom lens (up to 60x) which makes it a good choice for long range observations. The spotting scope is also waterproof, nitrogen filled, and features a durable rubber armored housing. The TrailSeeker's multi-coated optics provides bright and sharp views.

Q: 3. Some Celestron scopes are refractive and produce reverse images. Does this scope produce true images (vertically and laterally true)?

A: Yes it does. The images are just like in binoculars.

Q: 4. is the selestron landscout 12-36 good for space observation?

A: No, this is a spotting scope which is intended for shorter distances like 100-400 ft. You need a telescope.

Q: 5. Where is this scope manufactured?

A: This Scope is made in the Czech Republic.

Q: 6. Does this spotting scope come with any type of case?

A: It does come with a protective sleeve that you can carry. It does not come in a hard case.

Q: 7. How tall is the tripod? It looks like it's almost a tabletop tripod, but I will be using this at the beach so I'll need something that can be looked through while standing up.

A: This model comes with a small tabletop tripod. If you needed something larger I would recommend going with the Manfrotto MK393-HM Photo-Movie Aluminum Tripod QR Kit. Website link to the tripod: a href= http://bhpho.to/1tBLePC target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1tBLePC/a

Q: 8. would this capture a whale at 2 miles away?

A: That is a hard question to answer. Where I'm at in the Appalachian mountains I don't have many opportunities to look that far. However, I can tell you this. At over a 1/4 mile I can see acorns on the oak trees. I can see all the beautiful craters on the moon and I can clearly see Venus and her moons and see the bands on Venus.

Q: 9. What is the type of integrated tripod plate? (I.e. what head is compatible with integrated tripod mount without extra plate?

A: I don't know what the mount is called but the unit fits ideally with my Manfrotto tri pod with a Manfrotto 498RC2 head. The quick release works no worries.Regards Greg

Q: 10. Celestron has the specs for this scope as Linear Field of View (@1000 yds) / @1000 m): 62.9 - 36.7 ft @1000 yds (21.0 - 22.2 m @1000m) I think the specs you have at 165ft are wrong?

A: Yes thank you for bringing this to our attention I will alert our Web Team on this Specification Error. The Celestron Specification if correct. Thank you again.

[80 mm] My wife and I use this scope to spot Eagles at a local wildlife preserve.
The scope is very easy to use and has a perfect image.

[19.0 to 17.5 mm] Wanted to upgrade to a decent scope but did not want to spend $2000. The Trailseeker 80mm is better than I expected. Some online reviews were not raving about going past 30x zoom as far as clarity. I was more than pleased at 60x zoom, photo taken was using I-phone adaptor on windy day at 60x zoom.

[Angled] The TrailSeeker 80 offers great performance at a value price. I bought it for my wife. We have a small pond outside our backyard and the scope gives great clarity to the waterfowl who inhabit the wetlands. I plan on building a digiscope adaptor which will allow us to easily record videos and pictures.

I spent a lot of time researching the options, and am very satisfied with this purchase. Yes, you can do better, but nothing in the price range comes close. Given the price and ease of setup, this is the perfect package for the price. It's relatively portable and should provide years of service.

[19.0 to 17.5 mm] We have been watching birds from our living room window and this is a great addition to binoculars. Great so far!

[20 to 60x] I bought this for shooting at 800yrds and 1000yrds. Has good glass for those distances. Like being able to rotate body so can change eye piece position for shooting prone. Like side picatinny rail’s, for mounting red dot and angle indicator. Also a huge plus is comes in a durable hard shell plastic case!

[80 mm] For less than the cost of an 'average quality' eyepiece, to get a 60mm spotting scope of this quality with a clear, sharp 12x - 36x zoom, table top tripod and carrying case was the best optics deal I've enjoyed in years. In side by side comparisons, it outperforms my 70mm Maksutov spotting scope (which weighs twice as much) and it is a close 'second' to my 80mm Maksutov. I keep it in my car for observing nature (birds) and for 'basic' astronomy when traveling. Was pleasantly surprised by a detailed view of the Orion Nebula at 36x and the four Galilean moons of Jupiter were 'easy'. Another thoughtful Celestron design, especially the 360 degree rotating tripod mount ring and the 'recessed objective' that acts as a light and dew shield. If I had paid twice as much, I would still be more than satisfied with this spotting scope!

[5.45 lb] I love it! The scope is easy to use and quick to focus. The carrying case is fab! Don't even have to take it off to use the scope when on your trip-pod. It's light and easy to carry and very clear!

[80 mm] I received this and immediately tried it for some moon and star gazing. It was very easy to setup and once it was dialed in, it picked up the picture and I was able to focus easily. The only upgrade I would recommend is the tripod. However, if its set on a table with a stable stationary chair, it will work just fine. Great product for the price.

[20 to 60x] Have Five of the Meopta rifle scopes and have never been disappointed. This scope is a little heavy but the quality is from back to front, the resolution is something you would expect from a much more expensive scope. you defiantly get you moneys worth.
