Featuring a 1.7 GHz Annapurna Labs Alpine AL324 ARM Cortex-A57 quad-core processor with 4GB of DDR4 memory, this NAS enclosure is ideal for high-speed backups and collaborative workflows.

Connect the dual 2.5G RJ45 Ethernet and two 10G SFP+ ports to compatible devices for bandwidth-intensive tasks with compatible devices such as large backups, data restoration, and media transfers.

With Qtier, the TS-832PXU-4G uses auto tiering to continually optimize storage efficiency by automatically moving data between the installed solid-state drives and 2.5"/3.5" hard drives based on how frequently the files are accessed. The SSD extra over-provisioning feature allows you to allocate 1 to 60% of the reserved space to help avoid performance degradation and extend the lifespan of your SSD.

Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS) technology backs up and syncs your data to other NAS, servers, and cloud storage services for comprehensive disaster recovery planning.

The TS-832PXU-4G includes QNAP Boxafe, allowing you to automatically back up files, emails, calendars and contacts from Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

Four 5 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports are available, allowing you to connect compatible devices such as storage drives and other peripherals.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you download Plex on to the nas and make it a plex server?

A: Yes, you can use a QNAP NAS as a Plex server, but I would recommend a model like the QNAP TS-h886 8-Bay NAS Enclosure, B&H # QNH886D16028, rather than the QNAP TS-855X 8-Bay NAS Enclosure.

Q: 2. Can you use SFP+ to RJ45 adapters to connect directly to a computer?

A: There is no need for adapters, as this has Ethernet ports. If you need more ports, you can use a switch.

Q: 3. Could you please confirm that this doesn't support Raid 5?

A: The QNAP TS-216G 2-Bay NAS Enclosure does not support RAID 5 and is only capable of RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD. Only enclosures with three or more bays (and a minimum of three drives installed) can support RAID 5.

Q: 4. Is there a maximum size drive that this enclosure is compatible with? I have 2 12TB 3.5" drives.. would those work?

A: The maximum size drive of the QNAP TS-433 4-Bay NAS Enclosure is 22TB per bay.

Q: 5. Is the RAM expandable?

A: Yes, the RAM in the QNAP TS-462 4-Bay NAS Enclosure is upgradable to 16GB.

Q: 6. How does it perform as a Plex server?

A: Yes, this QNAP TS-264 2-Bay NAS Enclosure will work as an excellent Plex server.

Q: 7. What are the drive limitations? What size capacity does the unit recommend?

A: The QNAP TS-1232PXU-RP-4G 12-Bay NAS Enclosure, B&H # QNTS1232PXU4, supports up to 24TB 3.5'' hard drives at the time of this message. For a full list of the drives compatible with the QNAP TS-1232PXU-RP-4G, please visit the compatibility list provided by QNAP on the link below. https://bhpho.to/3MLTjPV

Q: 8. I'm considering purchase of this QNAP TS-932PX-4G. My current computer is an older iMac that only has Thunderlboldt 2 and USB 3.0, and Gigabit Ethernet. I'm looking for a storage solution that will work with that Mac but also be a smart investment for use with a new Mac when I upgrade soon. Is it possible to connect this NAS to my current iMac, with some type of adapter, via Thunderboldt 2. 0 or USB 3, since that would conceivably give me faster transfer rates than using the Gigabit ethernet port? I plan to use it for photo and video editing and data storage.

A: The QNAP TS-932PX-4G 9-Bay NAS Enclosure can only connect to a computer via ethernet, either directly to the computer's ethernet port or to a network router/switch via ethernet.

Q: 9. How few of the 9 drive bays can remain unoccupied while the device remains functional?

A: You can technically use only a single bay in order for this to work. If you are setting the unit up in a RIAD, then depending on the RAID configuration you might need 2 drives, 3 drives or more.

Q: 10. Will this work with a standard 1GB ethernet port?

A: Yes, the QNAP TS-932PX-4G 9-Bay NAS Enclosure will this work with a standard 1GB ethernet port.

[Black] I needed to upgrade from an older Western Digital NAS to something with more bays. I landed on this QNAP and I am pretty happy with it as it allows me to have more drives AND is somewhat more powerful. It seems a bit more complex but I have called the good people at QNAP tech support on numerous occasions and they have been very accommodating. They even helped me set up an rsync event (is that what it is? an event?) that allowed me to copy the data from my WD to my QNAP. It was so much faster than having my computer negotiate that transfer. So far so good.

[LED Indicator] Works as advertised. Supports VAAI storage primitives iSCSI and NFS. Easy to configure and using QuTs Hero with ZFS. Excellent performance and flexibility, as well as dedupe and compression with external cloud storage providers as replication targets. Ordered U.2 - 2xNVMe trays and have 8TB of NVMe RAID0 across 4 PCIe lanes for massive cache performance. Easily maxxed out the system RAM to 64GB using non-ECC DIMMs works great even without using QNAP provided RAM. 10Gbe networking bonded with the 2x2.5Gbe ports for 15Gbe trunked to commodity switch is fantastic. Five 7200rpm x 18TB HDD, 4xNVMe 2TB and 2x4TB SSD for 11 total drives and 106TB raw storage even only using 9 bays. This thing is incredible for a home lab setup for vSphere.

[28.37 lb] Just put into service, so far so good. This is our second QNAP NAS. First NAS was a TS-469 Pro that has been online 24-7 with original WD2000FYYZ drives since 2013. Hope the TS-453E has the same longevity.

[LED Indicator] I have recently purchased this Qnap TS-932PX-4G 9-Bay NAS Enclosure to be used as a storage device for backup. The data transfer speed is extremally fast as well as network connectivity. I would recommend this product for a storage solution in a network environment to anyone

[1 x 250 W] This thing is replacing my TS 653 eventually. It is whisper quiet sitting right beside me. It is a faster Celeron than the 653 and it uses metal trays instead of plastic brackets. It gives my system a nice look. One thing all should be aware of is that the holes for the rack mount are smaller than the regular rack screws so keep that in mind. I didn't increase the memory as I bought the 8 GB model, and I love the B&H Payboo Card which saves money.

[AC Adapter] Using with Crucial 1Tb drives in RAID 5 and hitting 1.2Gb read for my home virtualization environment. I have older QNAPs that just keep running without failure.

[2x 70 mm Fans] Great unit for a home rack with only 12 depth. I'd recommend rails though even if the unit is not that heavy.

After an initial fan spinup very quiet, even if heavily used. It's in a closet in a family room and is not audible at all in the room.

Using it with 10Gbit Fiber SFP and one of the integrated 2.5 Gbit interfaces.
Great performance, 200MB/s write, 250MB/s read with NVMe M.2 SSD modules.

Also great for security cameras, includes a license for up to 8 cameras. Running 6 cameras with ~20% CPU load.

A few minor issues:
- Could not get it running with Ethernet SFP modules (tried various), but rock solid with the fiber modules. But given that they consume less power/produce less heat anyway no real issue for me.
- It would be nice if they included M.2 SSD heatsinks.

[28.37 lb] With all those brands out there, I pulled the trigger on this one so far so good, and the build quality is very good

[Black] This was my first NAS setup for video editing, and it's been fantastic. A bit involved to set up, but the capabilities it has are incredible once you watch a few tutorials. I'm connected to mine through a 10g ethernet connection, using an ethernet to thunderbolt adapter to go into my MacBook Pro. It's nearly as fast as the thunderbolt RAID I have on my desk, but much larger and more powerful.
